Frum incorrectly attributes quote to Olbermann that was posted on satire site.

On Tuesday, after the National Review’s David Frum compared Rachel Maddow to the racist hecklers at McCain-Palin rallies, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann named Frum the “worst person in the world.” Yesterday, writing on his blog in response, Frum attacked Olbermann, attributing the following statement to him:

McCain and Palin have set the table for these outbursts with their attacks and then committed the sin of omission by not truly quelling them. Sort of like standing outside the Reichstag holding a gas can, and calmly suggesting that someone might want to call the fire department.

But as Olbermann revealed last night, what Frum attributed to him was actually a post on humor site 23/6. Watch it:

Frum has deleted the blog post that attacked Olbermann.

Damn you, “the Google”!!! Damn you to heck!!!

  2. Mr. Evil says:

Don’t republicans understand anything about information technology? How easy would it have been for Frum or one of his minions to fact check Keith Olbermann? Dumb, just plain dumb.

  3. larkohio says:

Frum was disrespectful and a grumpy old guy when speaking to a very polite and patient Rachel Maddow. Keith rightfully called him on this. I’m not feeling the love for old Frum these days.

Republicans: Never letting the truth get in the way of a mediocre attack…

I tried to click through to Frum’s mistaken attack on Olbermann before seeing TP’s note that it had been deleted. I, of course, landed on a page headed “David Frum’s Diary” with nothing beneath it.

What a chickenshit. At least issue a correction, if not an apology.

Does a chaced version exist anywhere?

  6. Daddy-O says:

Wow, David Frum? “Axis of Evil” David Frum? One of the Top Ten Stupidest Fking Guys On The Face Of the Planet David Frum?

    No one could have predicted!

I’m getting tired of the fantasies I’m having of rounding these people up for a quick firing squad. We live in a civilized democracy where we can’t do that sort of thing–besides, it might pre-empt “Dancing With The Stars!”

He gets paid to produce crap and outright lies, and there’s no law against it.

  7. Leftside Annie says:

Yer busted, Frum, ya chickensh*t pussy.

  8. Daddy-O says:

Hey. You wrote “chickenshit”. How’d it get past the TP censors?

    Cool, man.

  9. VerbalKint says:

    Dumb, just plain dumb.

Is it? Maybe it’s smart: plant something false, then backtrack after it has already been seeded into the right wing blogosphere. That is their M.O.

  10. unbelievable says:

Perhaps this is their latest strategy: The Pity Vote?

  11. ralph the wonder llama says:

Daddy-O, I think the TP censors are only concerned with words like “anlyze” or “s l u t”. For some reason, “chickenshit” is cool with them.

I was going to mention the same thing. While the Republican rabble are undoubtedly the stupidist people on earth, right-wing propagandists are not dumb at all. They do not constantly make mistakes. Rather, they just continuously throw crap against the wall to see what sticks. They understand that, even though some of their bullsh!t may be cleaned up by responsible people, their dumbass followers will eat all of it, and enough will remained smeared around to cloud the issue at hand.

    I got “moderated” earlier today and I think it was because I used p e d o p h i l e in a line (talking about GOOPers.. hehe…).

BTW, ralphie… when there’s nothing but blank space for Frum’s Diary, that’s a rather telling, apropos comment in its own write, no?

  14. Tawdry says:

Someone should tell Republicans to look before they leap.

  15. Badmoodman says:

Poor David Frum, he’s man without a horse in this race. He can’t stand Palin and can’t stand the blogosphere on the left.

Yeah. Because Republicans are sooooo good at taking reasoned advice.

  17. Zimzone says:

It wasn’t Frum’s diary, it was his new book, ‘Memoirs of an Amnesiac’.

Blank book. Blank diary. Blank stares. America, meet Mr. Frum.

  18. bebop says:

    Did he apologize?

  19. hussein toasterhead says:

Wow – next these guys will be complaining about the way they’re being misquoted in The Onion.

  20. paleolib says:

Republicans never apologize. Just look at the last eight years.

  21. Zooey says:

Frum has deleted the blog post that attacked Olbermann.

    And apologized…?

    Of course not…
