Racist GOP mailing depicts Obama surrounded by KFC, watermelon, and food stamps.

A local California GOP women’s organization’s most recent newsletter claims that if Obama is elected, his face will appear on food stamps, rather than dollar bills like other presidents. The group then included a picture of “Obama Bucks” — a phony $10 bill with Obama surrounded by racist imagery:

racist16_400.jpg

The president of the organization, Diane Fedele, didn’t understand the charges of racism: “I didn’t see it the way that it’s being taken. I never connected. It was just food to me.” One African-American member of the club said that upon seeing the newsletter, she “cried for 45 minutes.” “This is what keeps African-Americans from joining the Republican Party,” she added. The Republican Party needs to be flat eliminated. It must not exist anymore. We can never again skip ANY election, especially locally even if we think it is useless. From school boards to state senate and all the federal races. We must turn out in droves for every, single solitary election and drive these people from the planet. If you know anyone that even remotely thinks, “I don’t need to vote for Obama he is going to win anyway”, kick them dead in the ass, grab them by the hair, and drag them to the polls. I was a lifelong Republican until around 2002-2003. I will always and forever vote against these people until they are gone for good.

I hang my head in shame. There was, at one time, when I was younger (and not as wise), a belief inside of me that we would end racism and bigotry in my lifetime.
    Sadly, we won’t.

I am reminded of an incident back in 1992. I was on a cruise, and some of my table mates were senior ladies, rich and white, from Louisiana. Now, my neck of the woods (southwest Michigan) sees little racism. Well, at least I didn’t.
Anyway, back to story. It was during the Rodney King vs LAPD verdict. A passenger at our table announced that the police officers were acquitted. I remember being disgusted. What happened next was almost surreal.
The ladies, all dressed up with fancy hats and gloves, clapped their hands and yelled…”Goody” and “Good for them”.
    I was appalled.
But it was that day, April 26th, (my golden birthday), that I realized our country was not color blind.
These (R) ladies from California remind me of those table mates 16 years ago.
And yes indeed, we are still not color blind.

What about those who worked hard and got laid off? Are they not successful? The food stamp program is one of the most efficient in government, and today you see a lot of people using it for themselves and their families until some new jobs (industries) come along.

Also, am I right in recalling that you work for a private contractor doing business with the government? If so, remember that strategic government spending provides your employment and, in turn, puts food in your cupboard.

RaptureReady Says: Polls are flawed and irrelevant.

I agree the polls are flawed, but not in a way that is
helpful to the republicans. There are millions of voters
who only have cell phones and are not polled. The distrubtion
is 62% democrats and 28% republicans.

  83. dasm says:

The president of the organization, Diane Fedele, didn’t understand the charges of racism: “I didn’t see it the way that it’s being taken. I never connected. It was just food to me.”
Sure, you revolting racist– you just happened to pick those particular food items at random. Not only are you a racist, you lie as well. And yes, this is why so many people shun the hateful Republican party. Blatantly racist GOP attacks reveal over & over that the vast majority of Republicans revile people of color.

  84. Steaming Pile says:

They’re doing it wrong. Why Kool-Aid? Why not a 40-oz bottle of Colt 45? Now THAT’S racist.

This happened in CALIFORNIA? Man, and they say that the South is bad.

Any white person over the age of 30 who does not know that watermelon, fried chicken and kool-aid are stereotypically associated with African-Americans is just plain ignorant. There is no doubt whatsoever that the person who designed and created the graphic knew…. there is literally no way that someone would randomly select these food items by accident.

Is this really all that the GOP has to offer America? After all this time, is that really all there is?

To hell with the GOP and those who support it.

    Who would Jesus vote for?

A christian man with strong christian values, a family man who is faithful to his wife and is a devoted father to his children and a man who has compassion for those less fortunate then him. A man who supports peace

    OR

An admitted adulterer, who dropped bombs on thousands of innocent victims, is a serial liar, worships Mammon and is full of hate for those skin color is different then his? A man who supports war?

    You decide.

  89. Fred says:

So daryll, if the republicans show a picture of Obama with a noose around his neck would you consider that racist or would you just equate that with your image of a german eating sausage as not being racist.

Where is the line between decency and evil. You must have an opinion.

  90. Gregor Samsa says:

“I never connected. It was just food to me.”

This denial sounds so hollow, it’s not even funny.

Had it been “just food”, the group could have picked any food -hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza… but they picked a very specific type of food. On top of that, they included food stamps.

Their intent is clear. And they obviously never intended their audience to include African-Americans.

Not to go off topic from my faux brown sugar’s derailment, but I just wanted to share this with all.
One of my (R) friends, who is usually not argumentative, just sent an email wishing that McCain would have addressed certain issues about Obama (like character, and lack of experience) instead of attacking. It’s a move of desperation as he even admitted it was hopefully to sway the fence voters. I, of course, couldn’t keep silent, so I replied, albeit in kind, knowing well that the majority of addresses were Republicans.
well, lo and behold, another response, this time from a right voter, basically calling McCain an A-hole, and that his POW status does not make him qualified for president. It also stated that we need change now from the mess Bush has created. He concluded by stating he, too, was voting Obama/Biden!
    Again, this from a conservative.
I am grinning ear from ear right now!

That “thing” is totally unacceptable, however, it doesn’t make Obama any more electable. Most comments are correct: the neocon-hijacked GOP is a disgrace. Ron Paul pointed this out, but not many wanted to hear it. The two party duopoly is the problem. They are all crooks, thieves and liars. The lesser of two evils is still evil. We deserve better. Vote third party.

Uncle Ho: Is this the same Uncle Ho of FMO fame? If it is, WOW! It’s been a long time.

Tell the originator of this racist trash what you think about it. Call early and often.

What is racist about this? Black people do eat a lot of fried chicken, ribs, and watermelon. I guess people can cry racism over anything these days. I guess when you want something to cry about, any old thing will do.
