Socialist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez “mocked US President George W. Bush as a ‘comrade.’” “Bush is to the left of me now,” Chavez told an audience of international intellectuals debating the benefits of socialism. “Comrade Bush announced he will buy shares in private banks.”

More than 200,000 registered Ohio voters “may be blocked from casting regular ballots on Election Day because of a federal appeals court decision on Tuesday requiring the disclosure of lists of voters whose names did not match those on government databases.” Once local officials receive the names, they may “ask partisan poll workers to challenge these voters on Election Day.”

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R) is breaking with the conservative line on voter fraud and ACORN, saying yesterday, “‘I think that there’s probably less [voter fraud] than is being discussed. As we’re coming into the closing days of any campaign, there are some who enjoy chaos.”

A revised draft of the Iraq-U.S. security agreement “includes a previously discussed timeline for the withdrawal of American combat troops, with the troops moving out of Iraq’s cities and towns by the middle of next summer and leaving the country in 2011,” according to Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh.

19 days to go: Barack Obama will headline a gathering at Mack’s Apples in Londonderry, NH, and will then attend the Alfred E. Smith dinner in New York City with John McCain. Before the dinner, McCain will attend a rally in Dowington, PA, and then appear on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) third-largest donor “is a $14 billion New York City hedge-fund firm led by a man — nicknamed ‘the Vulture’ — who squeezes distressed companies and countries for their last dollars and boasted that the current U.S. economic crisis is ‘the opportunity of a lifetime.’”

FDIC Chairwoman Sheila Bair criticized the federal government’s bailout plan “for failing to take more aggressive steps to prevent Americans from losing their homes, highlighting a rift between her and other senior U.S. officials over terms of the $700 billion rescue package.” “We’re attacking it at the institution level as opposed to the borrower level, and it’s the borrowers defaulting,” said Bair.

Global markets tumbled yesterday “amid mounting anxiety that the world economy is plunging into a deep and protracted recession.” “European stocks fell 3 percent by midday after Wall Street and Japan’s Nikkei both suffered their worst one-day losses since the stock market crash of 1987, and the MSCI World stock index traded 3 percent lower.”

Several of the nation’s largest banks reported that consumers “are increasingly unable to pay off their credit cards,” forcing them “to hoard cash to protect against future losses and lend to fewer people.” According to J.P. Morgan, “the number of credit card loans in default rose 45 percent in the third quarter from the comparable period a year ago.”

And finally: Think you might be feeling lonely on next Valentine’s Day? Then consider joining right-wing luminaries such as former attorney general John Ashcroft and Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) on a 10-night cruise hosted by the Young America’s Foundation. After all, who can resist sharing “pressing thoughts with individuals who have done so much to advance the Conservative Movement”?

how many Hail Mary’s is this for McCain? Is he in his final throes yet?
I have developed a complicated algorithm to predict John McCains next moves, aided
by cider, xanax, and the green leafy substance of your choice.

    The conclusions I have reached:

John McCain will adopt an abortion.

John McCain will claim Sarah Palin has uncovered a plot
by gay polar bears to siphon off all of america’s oil to Russia.
Putin and his rearing head will be implicated.

John McCain will blame Obama for your grandmother’s burnt toast.

John McCain will annouce that Bristol Palin will be marrying the baby’s REAL father, Joe
the Plumber. Rumors of gay 3 ways with Joe Sixpack and Joe Lieberman will be denied. The
National ENquirer will give salacious detailed of the bizarely homophobicerotic “Joesome”

McCain will offer free kegs and glossy 8×10’s of Sarah Palin skinning a moose in a g-string at the
at the polls on election day. Republican focus groups have not yet determined whether
Sarah or the dead moose will be wearing the G-string.

McCain will release d@mning new evidence that Barak Obama once looked at a picture of
    Willy Horton while smiling.

McCain will publish Obama’s secret recipe for Jewless “Jew Soup” and “Whitey Stew”. Rumours
will circulate that the recipes are not only sinister formulas for the destruction of the white race,
but are also plagarized from Rachel Ray.

McCain will claim Barak Obamas gay muslim arab hermaphrodite pastor shot him down in vietnam.
With bullets made by illegal aliens.

McCain will claim Obama has an illegitimate white baby. Whose gay. And muslim.

McCain will claim Obama invented the “blue screen of death” and enlarged prostates.

McCain will question Obama’s whereabouts on the night Laci Peterson dissapeared.

McCain will reveal Obama’s insidious plan to spend our tax dollars on
    esctacy/viagra cocktails at gay al-qeeedduh weddings..in mexico.

McCain will offer to personally bomb a different country of arab/muslim/terrorist descent every day
until the threat of radical islam, and all its children, have been murdered..

McCain will reveal that Obama once spoke poorly of american beef.

Obama will be identified as authoring a bill to tax or outlaw any pregnancy that
does not end in abortion, vegetarianism, or a gay wedding. In reality the bill was
one meant to ensure babies arent born with AIDs.

Taking his catchphrase “my friends” to its ultimate and absurd conclusion,
McCain will send a Myspace friends request to everyone on the internet,
through a series of tubes that Sentator Ted Stevens was never given a bill for.

McCain will claim Obama is the reason that the Coke machine down the hall only takes
    exact change.

To show how much of a maverick he is, McCain starts ending all his tv ads with “I’m john mccain, and
    I don’t approve this message”

that is all, thank you and good night my friends.

And a good morning to you too, Zooey!

A co-worker of mine said “I’m only going to watch Ohio on November 4th. Once it goes for (Sen.) Obama, the race is over!”

While I admire her optimism, I’m not quite as complacent as is she. There’s still plenty of time for the election to flip between now and November 4th. I’m optimistic about Sen. Obama’s chances, especially now that the debate shows that Sen. McCain isn’t presidential material, but it’s not a done-deal yet!

Silly Republicans. They really thought it would come down to Ohio again in the election, and put all of their voter-disenfranchizing efforts into just that one state. LOL.

CNN has already predicted Obama has won the election – without Florida, Ohio and four others. LOL

  14. McWars says:

When Obama described with great interest the Lillie Ledbetter case, McCain arrogantly brushed it off with a shot a trial lawyers.

All kinds of polls showed the backlash of McCain’s attacks against Obama in the other debates as well as in general, so what does McEinstein do? Attack twice as much as he was attacking before. It made him even more unlikable than before, according to CNN.

I’m so ready for this to be over and for Obama to be President.

George Bush’s hard line approach to Hugo Chavez may be paying off as Chavez recently called Bush “comrade” during a meeting with international intellectuals.

More than 200,000 registered Ohio voters “may be blocked from casting regular ballots on Election Day” is expected to reduce feared electoral confusion this November as Ohio will be less able to muck things up like they did in 2004.

A draft agreement setting the withdrawal of American combat troops by 2011 will allow President Bush to declare victory in Iraq probably before he leaves office.
“Thanks to George Bush’s leadership we will have won the war in Iraq” said Dana Perino in a press gaggle. “In fact, I think that’s the second or the third time we’ve won the war” she added. “No other president in history would dare to make such a claim”.

However, with Pelosi and Reid still at the helm, I won’t hold my breath on Congress supporting him.

I think we still might see some of the Conservative, Corporate-owned Democrats cause issues – even with a true majority. 30. And the beat goes on says:

How Paulson pressed banks to sign intervention deal

The chief executives of the nine largest banks in the United States trooped into a gilded conference room at the Treasury Department at 3 p.m. Monday. To their astonishment, they were each handed a one-page document that said they agreed to sell shares to the government, then Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said they must sign it before they left.

The chairman of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, was receptive, saying he thought the deal looked pretty good once he ran the numbers through his head. The chairman of Wells Fargo, Richard Kovacevich, protested strongly that, unlike his New York rivals, his San Francisco bank was not in trouble because of investments in exotic mortgages, and did not need a bailout, according to people briefed on the meeting.

But by 6:30, all nine CEOs had signed — setting in motion the largest government intervention in the U.S. banking system since the Depression and retreating from the rescue plan Paulson had fought so hard to get through Congress only two weeks earlier.

    No choice

What happened during those 3?1/2 hours is a story of high drama and brief conflict, followed by acquiescence by the bankers, who felt they had little choice but to go along with the Treasury plan to inject $250 billion of capital into thousands of banks — starting with them.

Paulson announced the plan Tuesday, saying “we regret having to take these actions.” Pouring billions of dollars in public money into the banks, he said, was “objectionable,” but unavoidable to restore confidence in the markets and persuade the banks to start lending again.

    Read the entire article at:

    http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_10722647

**Somebody please explain to me why we are forcing these banks to sign on to this plan if they don’t need the cash. What were they really threatened with. This “plan” stinks more and more every day. Are they “hedging” their bets to make sure the Feds get some money back to make this thing look like it’s actually working? I am convinced that everything that is going on is manipulated and we are the victims. They don’t give a $hit about us and our struggles.

  31. misshusseinmolly says:

I heard this morning on NPR that “Joe the Plumber” said in a post-debate interview with CBS that his current income falls short of the $250,000 where his taxes would increase. But he’s concerned about down the road when his “income threshold” might change.

I make about $30,000 (around the median average in my state), and I’d LOVE to have my “income threshold” change to where it’s over $250,000. Give me that, and I won’t object to a tax increase, I promise.

Rolling Stone actually called him a misogynist. Which he demonstrated with the way he treated his first wife, his mistress/second wife, and his female constituents. It’s pretty ironic that he wound up with a female running mate.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again – a society is only as strong as its platform on woman’s issues. When women are considered and treated as equals to men, a society has higher standards of living, health and general welfare. To deny women equal protections and equal pay is simply unconstitutional.

By the way, I can’t stand to look at Cindy McCain any more knowing she ferociously supports a man who abuses her, and would abuse American women.

    ___________________________________________________________

I see two possible reasons for why Pelosi and Reid have been wimping out on holding Bushco accountable for anything:

    1. They figured it was more politically expedient to allow Bushco to continue their dismal policies with disastrous results, as this would benefit the Democrats in 2008 (a blatant example of “party before country”).

    OR

    2. They have been and are being blackmailed.

Either way, an Obama presidency would change things for them.

However, when Obama is elected, he and Congress will have an ambitious agenda ahead of them WITHOUT investigating the past administration, and Obama might figure that as long as they’re gone the country would be better off by just “moving forward”.

That would be a shame, because it would send a message that if you run a corrupt administration, all you have to do is get to the finish line and you’re home free with no accountability.

    Nice rebuttal.
You are the king/queen of debate, especially when the topics are “what if..” and “we shall see..”

Care to substantiate your accusations with facts?
Or shall you continue to play the baseless antagonist du jour?

Joe lectured the media this morning about certain local and world issues, which I could never follow.

You might see his pictures, tool boxes, pipe wrenches etc., all sold on E-Bay in the near future.

Anyway, we’ll just have to check the court records across the country and see how many problems ACORN has when this all plays out.

I didn’t ask for your opinion of my handle. If you’re going to keep peddling these accusations, you are responsible for making the case.

“We” don’t work on your terms. “We” know full well that ACORN isn’t even 1/1000 of the problem that is voter suppression. “We” know that “when this all plays out” you are going to be relegated to the dust bin of history.

Be a man. Be here on November 5th.

Think you might be feeling lonely on next Valentine’s Day? Then consider joining right-wing luminaries such as former attorney general John Ashcroft and Rep. After all, who can resist sharing “pressing thoughts with individuals who have done so much to advance the Conservative Movement”?

Perhaps they could get all mavericky and run that ship right through the Bermuda Triangle.

If I wasn’t married with 4 kids, I’d be on that ship in a heart beat, being confrontational and antagonistic.

Here is a little info your friendly propagandists won’t tell you.

Acorn flagged and submitted a voter registration with the name Micky Mouse because they were required to do so by law. You don’t have to worry, Micky Mouse is unlikely to show up to vote on election day.

    Idiot.

    _______

Do that. You’ll find that ACORN did nothing illegal and has not been convicted of any crime. When they identified problematic registration forms, they alerted authorites as required under the law.

You just hate the idea of an extra 1.3 million black people voting.

How ABOUT that Tim Mahoney? What’s your point?

If the allegations concerning Tim Mahoney are true, he’s a real skunk and deserves what’s coming to him. IF he survives his re-election (a big IF, considering his press lately), he will most likely experience these allegations being thoroughly investigated, and if he violated congressional ethics rules and/or misused taxpayer funds, he will be censured or worse. He may be shamed into resigning.

And you may have noticed that nobody here is defending him.

However, this will only affect Mahoney himself and the district he represents. It will not affect Obama or the Democratic Party.

    Next, please.

    ____________________________________________________________

I suspect that Joe will regret all this celebrity as the media and both sides of the political arena slice him and dice him to find whatever they can.

So far, they have allegedly found:

    1. His relation to Charles Keating.
    2. His not being a registered voter.
    3. At the moment, his income falls far short of the $250,000 threshold.

I predict there will much digging into this business he wishes to buy, including its balance sheet.

The up side is that the business Joe works for (and hopes to buy) will get a lot of free advertising. The down side is that Joe won’t get any peace until his fifteen minutes are up.

I must admit I will miss coming to this site every day to see if you are the next contestant voted out of the US by DHS and JaySus! Can I get an AMEN!

In other news G. Gordon Liddy is said to have made another donation to John McCain’s campaign. When asked why Liddy stated “I want to be John McCain’s go to guy for B&E’s and wiretaps. Maybe I can help bring down another Republican President!”

McCain had this to say about Liddy, “…congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”

Meanwhile the McCain campaign vehemently denies John McCain is speaking for the campaign. And with regards to G. Gordon Liddy one campaign staffer was overheard saying “you can’t account for the odd nut in the crowd.”

The Department of Corrections refused to make a comment saying “We cannot discuss former inmates of our wonderful system.”

For those Alaskans tuning in the Northern Lights will not be visible tonight due to Putin’s head!

At least FOX Noise’s Neil Cavuto had the Socialist Party’s U.S. presidential candidate on the other day and surprisingly let the guy talk. (You should’ve seen Cavuto’s face–unhappy at best.) Otherwise haven’t seen any alternative candidates who eschew capitalism on the corporate broadcast and cable media. Or PBS. Or C-SPAN. So much for political democracy…

It is being reported that Joe the Plumber was a plant.
He does not have a license as a plumber.
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.
