What are you supposed to do choose the greater of the evils? Sometimes choosing the lesser evil mitigates the harm.

Choosing the “lesser evil” does “mitigate” the harm in the sense that it slows down the disaster. But it does NOT stop it. And as such it is, in the end, en exercise in futility.

And no, I do not think that voting Nader/Paul/Whatever-other-hopeless-candidate is a “solution”. When the game is rigged, you are going to get the short end of the stick no matter how you play it. The only way to “win” such a rigged game is to kick the game board over and punch the cheating crooks who rigged it in the face. And that is the hard truth many here do not wish to hear, desperately hoping that some miraculous “messiah” will somehow, against all odds and against all empirical evidence deliver a miracle. And each time when your last idol persona fails to deliver, you desperately latch onto the next, whilst accusing those who point out your folly of being guilty of … that very folly, as you cannot even imagine that someone can possible not be a cheerleader for some pointless “team” in the game (Paul/Nader/Greens/etc). It is sad really.

What is the solution? Damned if I know. But that does not in any way invalidate my observation that playing the rigged game must, and will, in the end lead only to the “honest” players’ (in this case the “voters”) complete and utter defeat.

This is an easily winnable election with a few TV commercials exposing this nutjob!

I would expect her apology, her resignation and her voluntary commitment to an asylum.

Making humor out of tragedy just for the nihilistic hell of it and to get under the skin of certain types is hard work. But I’ve mellowed with age. I’ve been accused to selling out. I am sick and tired of the “Lesser of Two Evils” crap.

Actually I have to agree with Brian here. While standing on the sidelines of this (an probably because of that) it seems to me that the whole of US politics somehow came to be rigged (probably purposefully by the likes of the corporate MSM and people like Murdoch) to become akin to some brainless “sporting” event, where cheering for “my team” (full of overpaid idiots who flock to the highest bidder) and the “personalities” within has replaced any rational thought. Its one thing to consciously advocate some policies of your candidate, quite another to succumb to a personality cult of your “star”, which sadly appears to be the case with a large portion of both the Democrats and Republicans.

Also, the “Lesser of Two Evils” is a logical fallacy. Unless one can prove that at each election cycle the “lesser” of the evils becomes truly lesser then the last time, all one does by voting the “lesser evil” is to slow down the descent into the abyss, only to discover at the next election cycle that the “lesser evil” this time is deeper into the dark pit then the last time around.

Frankly, I am starting to seriously question if the entire scheme of the US (and by extension those in many other Western countries) “democracy” has really had it and has been irretrievably corrupted by the confluence of big business, politics and mass media working hand in hand to replace (unfortunately quite successfully) the citizens with brainless “consumers”.

Brain, there is absolutley no need for you to resort to charactor assasination…..we know who uses those methods.
