Whatever happened to conservatives that want to conserve our environment? Oh yeah, that went out the window a long time ago when the economic cost was greater than the environmental rewards … but now that the economic costs are in step with the environmental costs, the conservatives in the Republican party are still lagging behind — guess change (and the need for it) comes slowly to conservatives …

The environment is an area where I worry a little about Obama. He voted for the Cheney energy bill, one of the worst pieces of anti-environmental legislation ever passed.

McCain missed every vote for 1/2 a year. McCain says he didn’t miss any important votes.

Doesn’t it follow that he doesn’t see any votes as important ?

Could this be because the Congress is subservient to a unitary executive branch ?

Read the accompanying PDF at http://lcv-ftp.org/LCV/omchart.pdf. It gives Obama an 86 on global warming policies and McCain a 24 lifetime score. They gave McCain a zero last year. I guess that shoots holes in his claim that he is a champion of Global Climate Change.

The post was a good one, but they have endorsed Democrats in the past. The significance of the Chicago Tribune is that they are a conservative newspaper and have never, in their entire history, endorsed a Democrat. And their editorial was quite complimentary. It wasn’t a “Well we can’t endorse McCain so that leaves us Obama” endorsement.
