Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) continues to dodge the media; she still has never held an official press conference. However, she did make herself available to reporters aboard her campaign plane on Friday, and the Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire blog notes that in the past few weeks, she has been talking to the media more than McCain:
The GOP vice presidential candidate talked to reporters today aboard her campaign plane. It was the second time in 10 days that Palin has taken questions, although she has spoken to reporters far more frequently than her once media-loving running mate John McCain, who last took questions at the end of September.
As his campaign falters and the endorsements go to Obama, McCain’s handlers may fear that left to talk to reporters, the temperamental McCain may fly off the handle.
October 19th, 2008 at 3:39 pmMcCain know it, he lost his bid, so why talk to anybody?
October 19th, 2008 at 3:41 pmAfter Powell’s endorsment it is unlikely that he will be saying much anymore…his head is about to explode.
October 19th, 2008 at 3:51 pmAvoiding reporters, yet running near-even in the polls. This is the one strategy that seems to be paying off.
October 19th, 2008 at 3:52 pmAbout the only unanswered question, is how long it will be before Palin sticks a moose-gun behind his ear, and puts him down for good.
I predict she’ll be field-dressing him on Fox, before the campaign carcass is cold.
October 19th, 2008 at 3:59 pmAfter Letterman decapitated him last week the odds of McCain talking to anything other than a guaranteed (Fox) safe (Fox) interviewer (Fox) are remote.
October 19th, 2008 at 4:00 pmThe only question Wailin Palin has ever given a straight answer to was “How much for a BJ?”
October 19th, 2008 at 4:25 pmHe’s “got them right where he wants them.”
October 19th, 2008 at 4:34 pmThe reason that Palin had to talk to reporters on Friday was to “fix” her real Americans gaff.

October 19th, 2008 at 4:40 pmMcCain now avoiding reporters even more than Palin.»
October 19th, 2008 at 4:43 pm– - McCain got a pretty good working over the other day by that famous Midwestern conservative media-type, David Letterman.
What a shame, because he really has the ability to talk about what he believes in, Gov. Palin of course has no idea what to say to most reporters, so that was understandable.
October 19th, 2008 at 4:45 pmWhen I was a tad during the 1948 election, the campaign chant was: “Truman’s in the White House waiting to be elected, Dewey’s in the garbage can waiting to be collected.” In the present situation Obama may not be in the White House but McCain is certainly in the garbage can.

October 19th, 2008 at 5:09 pmmcchimpy is running his negative, dirty campaign based on lies, silly sound bites and nonsense. Sen. Obama has yet to run such ads.
Included in the above posts of why mcchimpy is avoiding reporters, please add to the list the 175+ people who attended Sen. Obama’s recent rally. Remember how mcchimpy was bragging that plain drew crowds of 10k+ or 20k+ on the Letterman’s show? Then there was the one-two punch by the msm. First it was reported 100K people attended (mcchimpy flipped) then upped the number to 175K people (mcchimpy flopped.)
mcchimpy thought he had Sen. Obama and looked smirky when he interruped Sen. Obama to state that he wants to take your (taxpayers) money, he wants to take your money and he will distribute it as he sees fit(close enough.)
Oh mcchimpy thought he made a zinger of a lifetime. Meanwhile Sen. Obama looked frustrated and sort of embarrass for him.
I believe that it surprised mcchimpy that Sen. Obama meant when he said, “share the wealth” Sen. Obama was referring to your rich, greedy, lying stealing repug robbers, not the middle class. Talk about being out of touch.
HAHAHAHA
October 19th, 2008 at 5:40 pmMcCain’s weirded eyes and “sodden” grin at the last debate reminded me of the face on the Japanese detergent on the Simpsons. Oh, wait, that was the double of Homer! Doh!
October 19th, 2008 at 5:44 pmShe needs to court the press for her 2012 presidential run. Bill Kristol has big plans for her and only four short years to teach her the English language.
October 19th, 2008 at 7:04 pmGame of Life,
I believe it was reported yesterday that Senator Obama had over 100,000 supporters at St. Louis in the afternoon and 75,000 in the evening at Kansas City. The key number is 112,000,000; with that number of popular votes on November 4 he will have exceeded the total for Chicken George WTF for both his stolen elections. The rethugs will have great difficulty stealing this one.
A personal note: Granny and I visited with my brother and his wife this weekend. They are both staunch (or is that stench) Rethuglicans and we were unable to convince them to vote for Obama but they have agreed to travel so they can’t vote at all. At least that is a half-assed victory, knowing my brother.
CONGRATULATIONS, PRESIDENT OBAMA!
October 19th, 2008 at 7:05 pmAs a veteran, I used to respect McCain. His dive into the sewer of typical politics (and both sides have done it) is so far removed from what he claimed he’d do in his campaign that I can’t tolerate it. Today, he’s no worse than the Viet Cong that tortured him to make coerced statements for them (but without the torture). Why has he decided to go this way? Obsession is the only answer.
October 19th, 2008 at 8:06 pmI’m trying to picture the gothic novel of a person running for president by avoiding the very press that give them publicity. Cutting themselves off from the ability to state their side of any argument.
This is really, really, really weird.
And if he can’t deal with it now, how would he deal with criticism while president ?
October 19th, 2008 at 9:06 pmMcNuts is finished now that Obama has “Mei Lai Coverup/Antrax Powder” Colin Powell endorsing him.
October 19th, 2008 at 10:40 pmCrusty Old Bastard
Thanks for the heads up.
October 19th, 2008 at 11:42 pmCrusty Old Bastard, I’ve got family like that too. (Too bad they can’t afford to travel now.) But they are too lazy to vote, thank goodness. However, they are also now of the opinion of “why bother?” If only we could get the rest of them to think along those lines. Sigh :(
