Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh said that the only reason Gen. Colin Powell endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) was because they’re both African-American. “Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race. OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed.” On his show today, Limbaugh went a step further and shouted his accusation against Powell:
Let me say it louder, and let me say it even more plainly. IT WAS TOTALLY ABOUT RACE! The Powell nomination — or endorsement — totally about race.
Watch it:
STFU honkey!
October 20th, 2008 at 1:53 pm“I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed.” said Limbaugh, pretending to do some research when he knows damn well that Powell never endorsed anyone because he wasn’t allowed to as a serving general.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:53 pmUgh. Doesn’t Rush know it’s impolite to speak in all-caps?
October 20th, 2008 at 1:54 pmStupid is as stupid does.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:54 pmHey, Rush: YOU’RE A FAT, UGLY, STUPID DRUG ADDICT!!!!
October 20th, 2008 at 1:54 pmLet me say it louder, because that makes it true.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:55 pmAh yes, the perfect bait.
Bigots will be crawling through broken glass to listen to racist-hater Lumpbutt fart through a walkie-talkie about the scary black guys.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:56 pmEven the average Dittohead may have some trouble thinking that Powell thinks that way, right?
October 20th, 2008 at 1:56 pmPROJECT MUCH? Please take the next eight years off and go inflict yourself on a Carribean nation. Maybe they’ll finally catch you porking a teenage boy and salt your lard ass away for good. Got rendition?
October 20th, 2008 at 1:57 pmPoor Rush better take some more “chill pills”.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:57 pmSo if he (rush) can’t find another liberal white candidate
that Powell endorsed he’s right? What a blowhard.
Powell nomination? To the SCOTUS? Not really qualified. Does this fat gasbag know anything about political reality?
Didn’t think so.
October 20th, 2008 at 1:58 pmYesterday, I watched an interview with Mark Levin on C-Span. For anyone familiar with this guy, he’s only a tiny step down from Michael Savage. Guess who helped him get into radio and he considers his mentors and great friends? Rush and Hannity.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:00 pmAnd yet, the image resurfaces….the republican primary debates…skin so bright, you hadda wear shades…
btw: How many black republican congresspersons are there?
Hint: 0
October 20th, 2008 at 2:00 pmI really don’t give a fig what Limbaugh says. He is a miserable excuse for a human.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:01 pmWhat non-white candidates have gotten this porker’s endorsement? It’s all about race for someone.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:01 pmIf Powell’s political choices revolve around race, then why would he have ever registered as a Republican in the first place?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:02 pmchairthrower Says:

Even the average Dittohead may have some trouble thinking.
There, fixed it for you.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:02 pmThat is why he is endorsing MCCain…Totally about race!
October 20th, 2008 at 2:02 pmMcCain will die in office from complications of melanoma and Palin may be ignorant to foreign policy. However, She is WHITE!
Limbaugh the racist would never endorse a Black man and as for Colin…He never did respect him because he just isn’t the right color!
Please, Rush… use an even larger font next time.
Make it LOUDER, Fat Boy. Please.
Go on and on and on and on… I’m sure you’re bringing votes back over to the Dark Side, Rush. Really… you are.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:03 pmLimpballs went into overdrive. It must be the pain killers giving him a reaction. Now, if Powell endorsed McCain and not Obama, would Limpballs say McCain is playing the military card?
Bottom line is that the blowhards like Limpballs are really pissed that Powell’s endorsement of Obama is huge blow to the GOP base in the red states and another nail in McCain’s campaign coffin when McCain is running on empty in this campaign race. You can see that McCain doesn’t have any direction left in his campaign strategy when he went from playing the POW card for so long to now playing the Joe the Plumber the small business owner card.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:04 pmHas Rush been snorting Viagra again?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:05 pmLimbaugh is just yelling into his echo-chamber. Anyone who takes this seriously is already totally out of touch with reality – they probably even think Obama will raise their taxes!
This story is just about how inane Limbaugh is, not at all about Colin Powell.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:06 pmDoes that mean Secretaries of States Henry Kissinger,James Baker,Alexander Haig and others whom McCain claimed that they have endorsed him can be called White racists for doing so? !!
October 20th, 2008 at 2:07 pmIt must be good for Obama if he is so p!ssed.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:07 pmWhy can’t he just refute Powell’s reasons for supporting
Obama and be done with it?
Cue Rush denegrating Powell as a phoney soldier in 3, 2, 1…
October 20th, 2008 at 2:08 pmFor the record, Colin Powell did not say his vote was not based on race!
He is an intelligent American with no reason to view his own decisions through a racial prism. Not a race-baiting lunatic who’s sole mission in life is to get high and hate.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:10 pmOT, but it’s about another delusional righty…
[...] We also talked about Salter’s current view of the press: “I think the media is driven by a need to see this history happen,” he said. “And I think they’ve rationalized it, they think they’re on the level with McCain, that he’s not the old McCain. But he is the old McCain. He just doesn’t know what happened to the old press corps.”
Here is an edited transcript of our conversation.

just happened on that article, thought i’d share…
October 20th, 2008 at 2:10 pmI have a hard time following this logic. I mean, I’m white, right, and I really hate Rush Limbaugh. Since he’s white, shouldn’t I have a big man crush on him?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:11 pmOf course Rush thinks Powell’s endorsement of Obama is all about race.
Just like he thought Donovan McNabb’s success as a starting quarterback was all about race.
But Rush isn’t racist. Not at all. It’s everyone else who’s racist.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:11 pmFirst of all Rush Dim-baugh dumba$$ – there’s not a damn thing cowardly about what Gen. Powell said yesterday. He only said what alot of Republicans have been afraid to say all along – McCain is not what America needs and Palin is not ready to be Vice President or President – PERIOD!
October 20th, 2008 at 2:11 pmDumbaugh, you need to just get over the fact that McCain/Palin aren’t fit to run a dog fight, especially with ignorant people like you supporting them.
Did Powell endorse Alan Keyes?
Did Powell endorse any of the African Americans serving in the House?
Did Powell ever endorse another African American candidate?
finally,
Did Powell endorse any white Republicans?
ok – that story is over. next item, please.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:12 pmYa gotta love it.
Rush is helping Obama more than any direct advertising can. He’s showing himself to just what many suspected…A RACIST.
Racism’s day is gone, fat boy. You see, Obama is bigger than race. He cares about Americans, not corporate wealth.
Rush, Obama may not weigh as much as you, but he’s a much bigger MAN.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:13 pmYou know that didn’t even cross his mind!
October 20th, 2008 at 2:13 pmwhat happened to the globe? did it change hands recently?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:13 pmi keep noticing big right turns, not this, necessarily…
just curious…
McCain closing gap slightly, separating himself from Bush, poll says
Boston Globe – 38 minutes ago
A new national poll released this afternoon suggests the presidential race is tightening ever so slightly. Among likely voters, Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain 51 percent to 46 percent — down from 53 percent to 45 percent two weeks …
The morning of November 5th may be an extraordinary moment in American History, as fatgasbaglardasses like Limbaugh may well entertain us by exploding their skulls.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:15 pmchairthrower Says:
Even the average Dittohead may have some trouble thinking that Powell thinks that way, right?
not any more…
the Rush has spoken.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:15 pmWhich African Americans has Limbaugh ever supported? I guess that means every time he supports somebody it’s race based.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:16 pmGee I have never supported a black candidate for president.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:16 pmWhat does that make me? (I’m a euro mongrel)
Rush, you poor misguided bloviating bag of republodung, you didn’t listen to Powell talk about how off course the republican party is. It’s not about race, it’s about direction.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:22 pmWell, I think many of you know how I feel about Hope vs Hate
But, just in case:
Hope Defeats Hate in 2008:
October 20th, 2008 at 2:25 pmhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfZxP3hOCcc
Limbaugh turning on General Powell is almost as good for Obama as Powell’s endorsement itself. Keep up the hate speech, Fatboy!
PEACE
October 20th, 2008 at 2:25 pmCan’t the racists just suck it up and vote for THE WHITE HALF?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:26 pmRush is the center of his own whacked out Universe. A very weak Universe, which is about to implode.
Buh bye, Rush. Rot in the hell of your own making.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:26 pmHey Zooey, I appreciate all your support. The Hope Defeats Hate video is over 1500 views now (internal numbers update before the on-page one does)
My wife broke down in tears when she watched it for the first time. I knew then it would be effective.
For fun, Google “Hope Defeats Hate 2008″
whoohoo!
October 20th, 2008 at 2:28 pmThere are other things that are totally about race too rush.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:28 pmTake for example how people don’t listen to your show because they know you are racist.
And Rush’s comment is (LOUDLY) RACIST.
Now don’t quote me, but, “some” people say Rush likes little boys and chickens for his drugged up sex games, but then that is just “some” people
October 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pmZooey Says:

October 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pmNot just that Keith, but when I hear his voice, I RACE to the OFF button!
October 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pmRush has it wrong. If Powell had endorsed McCain in order to prove that he was not endorsing Obama based on his ethnicity, then that would have been about race.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pmSo, if a person crosses party lines in choosing the best candidate, even though Powell clearly backed up his decision with facts, and the skin color just happens to be the same color, it is all about race?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pmHow racist is this? This IS unbelievable.
And Rush supporting McCain/Palin is totally based on race. Let me say it louder, and let me say it even more plainly. RUSH IS A BIGOT AND HYPOCRITE!
There, I feel better
October 20th, 2008 at 2:30 pmAs with Malkin, I believe it to be in my best interest not to listen to anything that Limbaugh has to say.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:31 pmUh-huh. And any white person who endorses McCain does so cuz he’s white.
Calmer than you are.

But, come ta t’ink of it… mebbe it should be. Carry on, soldier, carry on…
October 20th, 2008 at 2:33 pmAs Powell made the effort and so eloquently and carefully stated reasons why he was supporting Obama, did he do this as he knew his party of neocons would resort to racist comments?

Truthfully? Rush did seem a little taller this morning…

October 20th, 2008 at 2:45 pmGosh, does that means that white people who endorse Obama/Biden then they are half-racist or would it be a third-racist? And does it mean that if African Americans endorses Obama/Biden then they are two thirds racist? And if a Native American votes for Obama/Biden then….gosh, this “Limpball” logic is confusing.

October 20th, 2008 at 2:47 pmNot true, He loves little Dominican republic boys! Just ask one of his exwives
Pugilist Rush Limbaugh ensuring that his wallet remains plump!
There’s a bottomline to people like Limbaugh. They are “entertainers” who collect large sums of money for the “shows” they put on for their followers. And they can be bought and sold, making it even easier not to take them seriously.
Limbaugh is not much more than a shock-jock – Howard Stern minus the salacity.
That he has an audience of 13.5 million loyal weekly listeners nationwide is scary. As Election Day draws closer, I won’t be surprised to see violent breakouts in parts of the country, because you can guarantee that these kinds of coded, hate-filled messages will only intensify in frequency and virulence.
This win-at-any-cost strategy is disturbing. Encouraging divisiveness across racial lines is dangerous, especially for a country already seething with prejudice-based hatred. How blind can people like Limbaugh be to this? Unless that is what he wants – a race war.

October 20th, 2008 at 2:48 pmWho is sponsoring his show? If I owned a business, there’s no way I would want my product to be associated with blatant racism.
He needs to be Imused.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:53 pmHow long before Limbaugh call Powell & Obama socialists ?The wing nuts are in a tizzy.
October 20th, 2008 at 2:53 pmFor some reason I have the feeling that a great deal more Republicans will be voting for John McCain BECAUSE Barack Obama has darker colored skin than there will be Democrats voting for Barack Obama BECAUSE he has darker colored skin. Based on Mr. Limbaugh’s skewed reasoning, many prominent Americans who happen to have lighter colored skin can be judged to be racists BECAUSE they endorsed John McCain. Or is it only darker colored skinned Amercans who endorse Barack Obama that can be judged to be racists?
October 20th, 2008 at 2:58 pmI think Limbaugh is drawing only from his own personal experience when he thinks that everyone makes decisions based only on skin color. I’ve always seen his (Limbaugh’s) political preferences as racist and anti-semantic.
October 20th, 2008 at 3:07 pmLimbaugh, George Will, and Pat Buchanan all quickly gave their own explanations that it was a racial decision made by C.Powell to endorse Obama, regardless of what Powell himself said, explaining his OWN decision on airwaves to millions of viewers.
Amazing…!!
October 20th, 2008 at 3:07 pmIsn’t it amazing at how quickly the republican’ts turn on one of their own when they make the slightest variation from the standard party line (”You’re either with us, or against us.”)? It reminds me of the miners in Galaxy Quest attacking one of their own when he was injured. General Powell is an honorable man and I respect his opinions, even if he had endorsed McSame.
October 20th, 2008 at 3:21 pmLimbaugh is only endorsing McCain because they’re both going bald. He wants somebody who looks like him in the White House.

October 20th, 2008 at 3:53 pmRush, just because you’ve upped your self medication of OxyContin and Hydrocodone, and the result is another loss of hearing, doesn’t mean your listening audience can’t hear you!
No need to shout, unless you spot a young Dominican Republic adolescent boy on the street corner!
(fair warning trolls: I have no, none, zilch, nada, NO! respect for Oxybreath here. I will vigorously attack him (?) any chance I get. He is utter vile! So do not EVER patronize me over my attacks. I’m usually a peaceful person. Gluteal boil cyst here, tho, gets no such restraint from me. In my business, I’ve seen many an individual lie, steal, cheat, and basically ruin any chance of a normal life becoming addicted to meds similar to Rush’s. Yet he, on the other hand, continues to make millions of dollars! Bull Shiite! I will never relinquish my wrath upon him. NEVER!)
October 20th, 2008 at 3:53 pmRush is SO predictable! I’d have been surprised if he’d said anything else.
October 20th, 2008 at 4:09 pmRush’s ignorance is supported by the fact that he is an under-educated college dropout. Why anyone listens to this windbag is beyond logical comprehension.
October 20th, 2008 at 4:38 pmThis is where the Powell endorsement really starts to do some good.
October 20th, 2008 at 5:37 pmNot so much in the straight endorsement, but in the Repub reaction to it.
To a lot of folks on the right, Powell is still a hero. He won the First Gulf War. He was loyal. They would have voted for him for President.
And now he endorses Obama. And the Right turns on him and attacks him and calls him Al Sharpton.
They’ll be screaming like the bystanders hurling insults at the black kids going to school in Little Rock from now until election day.
And there will be an awful lot of people looking at the performance, moderate Republicans who are incensed at being called racist, who will look at wat’s going on now to General Powell and find themselves ashamed of their party.
They may not vote for Obama, but they may stay home.
“He also has a B.A. from Yale and a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard.”
Wouldn’t that make him a NE elitist?
October 20th, 2008 at 5:43 pm.
“R” is NOT just for Rush…
“R” is for RACIST, too!!!
All good RACISTS know that all you have to do is play that RACE card and denounce those that challenge your use of RACE as being sympathetic to minorities…
I have yet to meet a racist that doesn’t plat a RACE card.

October 20th, 2008 at 7:21 pmWho is this “everyone’ who is so positive????
You don’t suppose Powell is trolling for another seat on the Cabinet do you??????
The man lied.
To the World.
One of the biggest and most awful lies in the history of this country.
And he protected the lie for 5 or more years. And still supports the war that was based on his lie.
He watched and did nothing as the Bushies created an international gulag of torture and crime.
As a military leader he watched as the Bushies disemboweled the Geneva Convention rules on treatment of prisoners.
He watched and did nothing as the Bushies rewrote the Constitution of the Unites States of America, and the laws that protect Americans from governmental abuses of power.
He watched and participated in so much evil, in more destruction of the freedoms, and rights and rule of law that have strengthened protected this Nation for over 200 years and he did nothing.
He is a Bushie, he is a traitor, just as Chaneybush and the rest of that criminal cabal are.
Like Lieberman, like the County Clerk of Broward County Florida, he will become a Democrat just long enough to screw things up for them and then just like Lieberman and the county clerk, after the damage is done, switch back to being overtly Republican.
He sits on the Boards of multiple military suppliers. Can we believe that that would not influence his decisions????
When I was in Wichita Falls, and Austin, Texas there were at least three instances in which candidates ran as liberal, ecology minded candidates, won and then showed themselves to be just the opposite of what they had presented themselves to be.
Once elected, all three switched parties and ran again as Republicans.
Why did Powell wait so long into the election runup to make a decision.
He wouldn’t have been waiting to see who would win, would he?????
Both Obama and McCain have sufficient histories, that people inside the belt way should be expected to have known pretty much all they needed to, to make a decision at, or long before the Conventions.
Why did you wait till McCain tanked Colin?
October 20th, 2008 at 10:03 pmThe Palin debacle was clear weeks ago, the economic crisis was clear weeks ago. Why did you wait till now?
Boycott wingnut media. Don’t watch it, and don’t repeat it.
October 20th, 2008 at 11:43 pmColin Powell was George Bush’s most trusted advisor. He sold the war in Iraq to the American people and the U.N. Selling Barrack Obama should be a “slam dunk”.
