After McCain’s mea culpa on Letterman, Larry King wants an apology too.

After abruptly canceling on him in September, last week Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) went back to David Letterman’s show, where he apologized and admitted he “screwed up.” On his blog on Friday, Larry King said that he is waiting for McCain to offer him the same courtesy, after abruptly canceling a Sept. 2 appearance:

Note: Last month, Sen. John McCain cancelled an interview with “Larry King Live” as well. On Thursday, he re-scheduled with Letterman but we’re still waiting for the senator to re-schedule with us.

King has also unsuccessfully invited Palin to appear on his show. In July, McCain promised King that he would bring his running mate on the show as soon as he chose someone. (HT: TVNewser)

McCain, apparently, owes a lot of people an apology — for his actions, his inactions, the words of his surrogates and for those of his running mate.

  2. Crusty Old Bastard says:

Just hang in there Larry Baby, old McSenile will be with you right after he does the Keith and Rachel shows, or when the Catholics declare that the Virgin Mary was a lesbian, whichever comes first.

  3. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Yeah, but Larry King isn’t nearly as funny as David Letterman. I’d rather hear Letterman complain about him.

  4. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Let’s see. Will John McCain agree to come on his show AND bring Sarah Palin, but not agree to take any calls from “viewers”?

OT, but have you heard that Barack is suspending his personal campaigning on Thursday and Friday of this week to head to Hawaii because his grandmother is very ill?

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Senator, and to your family, and especially for your grandmother’s health that she may see you take that oath of office in January.

    PEACE

  7. 5th Estate says:

McCain really should go have a chat with someone in his own age group (two-year age gap).

They could compare notes on their respective childhoods and how they got their first jobs. Then they can talk about divorces and health. McCain should have nothing to fear.

  8. katy says:

hey, mom… like minds… good call!

  9. Jackie says:

Larry King can forget it. Letterman only got him there because evey night Letter hammered away at the issue of being ditched and even talked to his guest about how he was ditched by McCain. Republican Poster Girl Paris even had her say about poor Dave being dumped. It was the talk of everyone not even people who watched the show were talking about it.

For tonights first OT, from me, I present a lighter, yet disturbing, look at the campaign. Hey, if we stop laughing ol’ Flippy might as well win.

Two more weeks to hold their fragile narrative together. That means no media, other than tightly controlled. That leaves Larry out.

The crinkled old guy even stopped drinking the Kool Aide.

Seriously, when you can’t face Larry King who can you face internationally? President of Tuvalu, PM of Togo, King of Tonga???? No, they deserve respect nd understanding of their countries and Caribou Barbie definitely cannot see those countries from her house.

And I defy Palin or the trolls without The Google to tell be where those countries are

  14. BrianFL says:

The mainstream media did not make enough of that Letterman appearance. McCain not only looked/acted bizarre, but he essentially admitted the whole “suspending the campaign” thing was a gimmick. He admitted that at a time our country was facing a crisis, he pulled some bizarre stunt to get attention.

  15. the Lone Voice of Reason says:

There might be hope for Larry King, Blinky might think it could get him a few more loser votes.

Our hearts and prayers are with the Obama family right now, may Mrs. Dunham get well enough to see his special day come true. Amen

First, we all wish O’Bama and his Grandmother all the best. Family should always come first. Good for him for giong to her side.

Second, he scares the hell out of me thinking of him as the President. As much as I want change too, I’m voting against him. Too much at risk for OJT for the lead job.

Now you can all beat me up instead of the silly thing with the far left talk shows.

    funny stuff –

I don’t give a rodent’s rectum if you’re afraid of Obama. The rest of us are trying to put this country back together, and if you don’t want to help, then at least stay out of the way. Thanks.

On topic, I think it’d be a great idea if McCain spend the next two weeks going around to all of the talk shows and endlessly apologizing. It’s a game changer!

  19. pete says:

It is odd how GOoPers can claim they are afraid of what they don’t know about Sen. Obama, while those who see what Flippy McSpin has become are afraid of what we do know about him.

Witness the difference in the reactions to the financial meltdown. Obama was calm, collected, thoughtful, and reserved. Ol’ Flippy, on the other hand, was positively spastic. He’s a reckless radical who “goes with his gut”. We’ve all witnessed what that combination leads to.

Plus, anyone who is afraid of Sen. Obama’s “inexperience”, without being terrified of Bible Spice getting anywhere near the White House, is lying, stupid, or both.

  20. MrSquirrel says:

    Obama scares you as President?

Well, you must have an idea how we feel about McCain as President, then.

He can’t even run a campaign without screwing up twice a week.

Did you see how he handled that economic crisis? That was not at all inspiring as an example of leadership. Combined with his well-known anger problems, I don’t trust him in a crisis.

I don’t think this country can survive four years of his mismanagement.

I don’t even want to THINK about Palin in charge. If you can seriously look at her and think she wouldn’t need about fifty times the OJT Obama will need, well, you aren’t looking very hard.

No need to beat you up. Stupidity is never a good reason to beat someone up.

Don’t you need to go iron your white robe and pointy hat before your idiot meeting with your RepubliKKKan friends or something??

    You must frighten easily.

    BOO!

  25. RUCerious says:

Hey McIIIrd! You owe America an apology for not showing up at the campaign with the honor, dignity and respect for yourself, your party, your country and your fellow veterans.
    Asswhole.

  26. pete says:

Glad you enjoyed it Lone Voice. It was the best laugh I’ve had all day.

  27. MrSquirrel says:

    Dear Larry King,

Sorry about Ms. Palin not showing up for an interview, as was promised.

It’s just that, your show isn’t funny enough. We only let her appear on comedy shows. It’s our only hope of making her look like a serious candidate, by contrast.

Plus, if one of your callers were to ask the wrong question, we’re worried that Ms. Palin’s brain might implode. Which is a loss we could probably sustain, except that it would blow the whole Librarian Fantasy thing she has going with our core constituency.

I hope you understand. It’s nothing personal. We’re just amazingly, mind-bogglingly desperate at this point.

    Insincerely yours,
    Tricky Dick Davis

  28. FaireMaiden says:

Well… so much for campaign promises, eh? McShame can’t even keep the promise to show up to an interview!

Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

  29. DaTruth says:

What kind of presidential candidate appears in national TV and admits he screwed up? McCain has been playing it silly damaging the tone of his campaign. First he picked Palin as VP,and now this?

And speaking of Kings, John King, of CNN, is reporting:

“…that the Republican team is ‘making tough decisions’ as it sees Colorado as well as New Mexico and Iowa drift away.”

Palin was just campaigning in Colorado, yesterday.

I also heard a person who works for Charlie Cook, say that McCain might even lose Arizona.

    Shades of Al Gore!

  32. McWars says:

Mr. King, mush brain Palin doesn’t answer questions because she can’t even answer in complete sentences. Remember, she went to five colleges in six years — presumably a tactic to cut corners when the going got tough until she somehow entered Idaho’s flagship university and got away with an undergraduate degree in Journalism. This alumna certainly isn’t giving anything back to her alma mater.

  33. dbadass says:

Allm right folks, let the beating of ClusterTim around the head and neck with a broken bottle begin…

  34. AllenAllen says:

She won’t go anywhere where she has to answer to the blatant lies she’s been spouting. She wants to hide under a rock with the rest of the creatures of the night.
