McCain still supported funding for embryonic stem cell research as late as January, 08. He changed his position to get support from religious fanatics.

From the Washington Post, in January of this year: “Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is running for the Republican presidential nomination, on Thursday while campaigning in Florida said he continues to support human embryonic stem cell research, the Washington Post reports. When asked whether recent advances in nonembryonic stem cell research would change his stance, McCain replied, “I have not changed my position yet” (Milbank, Washington Post, 1/25).”

Hey a-holes! Stop trying to stick up for the old bastard. If he doesn’t support embryonic stem cell research, he doesn’t support the most promising avenue towards cures for a variety of diseases. Just because the old crackpot is spewing out bullshit about “adult stem cell” research doesn’t change the fact that he and his republican religious fanatic friends have been standing in the way of medical research.

this is unnecessary. He has flipped on immigration from
supporting some sort of reform with Ted K. ,but now
says he wouldn’t vote for it.

There’s no need to get upset over this one. Tommorrow he’ll either actively deny ever saying it, or someone from the campaign will jump up and deny that McWorse speaks for the campaign, or that his remarks were taken out of context. It is flat out wrong to say that he is opposed to stem cell research. While he is opposed to one particular kind of stem cell research, it would be flat out wrong to say that he is opposed to all stem cell research.

I’m not trying to defend McCain here. I’m trying to help TP see when they are being the left version of redstate.com.
