After endorsing Obama’s Pakistan policy, Palin now attacks it.

In September, appearing to endorse Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-IL) position on the matter, Gov. Sarah Palin said that the U.S. should “absolutely” launch cross-border attacks into Pakistan if it is necessary to “stop the terrorists from coming any further in.” In a rally today, however, Palin called this a potential “crisis scenario”:

PALIN: Proposing to meet with a regime in Tehran that vows to wipe Israel off the earth. Let’s call that crisis scenario number 1. Now, Sen. Obama too having advocated sending our U.S. military into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government. Invading the sovereign territory of a troubled partner in the war against terrorism — we gotta call that scenario number two.

Watch it:

Palin may be backtracking on her own policy because Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) strongly disagrees with her. In fact, he has repeatedly criticized Obama for supporting strikes on al Qaeda in Pakistan.

    Sarah wouldn’t flip-flop, would she?

There you go, little moose lover. Let AIPAC know that you are 100% for them, and that you are willing to destroy an already crippled America to “save” Israel. Scary that in her ignorance she displays some clarity: she would NOT be capable of negotiating anything successfully. On the other hand, what a defeatist attitude. L o s e r.

This was the ‘father in the principals office’ moment when he insisted she was ‘having a conversation and – blah blah blah – gotcha question’ with Couric.

I know you must be relentless until this thing is over, but I am so tired of Palin isn’t legitimate stories.

Do they fight all the way to election day, or can they give this a rest yet. They are not even trying to win the election, only trying to tarnish a man’s name. It doesn’t make sense.

  5. alphainfinityomega says:

Sarah is quickly learning her Rethug lessons; just take both sides of any issue, then deny one or the other at your own convenience.

Also, in what reality is an attempt at a diplomatic solution considered a CRISIS? Talking is a crisis? I guess it is if your Sarah — when she talks, it is a crisis.

funny how there’s suddenly these “border problems” with pakistan after they oust our puppet, musharraf.

  8. 49erDem says:

Actually, at this point, “Scenario One” is a landslide victory for Obama/Biden, a 58-seat Senate majority for Dems and 25 to 30 more House seats for Dems. “Scenario One” is the end of the modern conservative and libertarian movement.

Now, now, can you really blame her for that? I mean, Afghanistan and America are right next to each other alphabetically!

Precisely. Seems odd. The disturbing part to me is that it seems that they are trying to stoke hatred for Obama out of their narrow minded “base”, which is not earning any votes (they already have the “base” votes). Considering the proclivities of these hateful people, stroking their fears can only have one purpose with an ugly end. Win at any cost, even if the cost is innocent lives. There’s some good old family values and pro-life thinking for you.

So I guess when Senator McCain stated that he would follow Bin Laden to the very gates of Hell he neglected to say that his hunt would come to a screeching hault at the Pakistani border. I guess as long as Usama stays in Pakistan he could enjoy sovereignty throughout a McCain presidency. heckuva job Johnny McDingus!

  16. Jackie says:

Pakistan has moved on to China and left the US behind after Bush has given them Nukes and billions of dollars.

McCain/Palin have asked Russia for campaign money with a response of NO WAY. Will McCain ask Iran for money next who knows.

  17. Dumb_Hussein_Fox says:

Palin saying we need a permission slip from Pakistan to conduct foreign policy?

If the trolls stopped jerking off for 5 seconds they might recognize that this was a line of attack they used against Kerry.

Well, it’s actually quite elementary my dear Watson, figuring out why she’s saying one thing then and a different thing now: Bambi McAirhead doesn’t speak for the McSame campaign. Or maybe it’s McSame who doesn’t speak for the McSame campaign. Or both. Or neither.

    I think my head’s going to explode…

Palintology isn’t an exact science, folks. You have to consider…

-which way the wind is blowing

    -day of the week

    -which State you’re in

    -are the press present?

-what did McIIIrd change his mind on today?

    -is it fairly unbalanced?

    -the color skirt you’re wearing

    -who’s asking the question?

-is the question more advanced, like 4th grade or higher?

It’s not easy being the President of Alaska, yaknow

It is sad that neither candidate from the gop can remember anything about what they were passionately drooling the day before. We haven’t seen such lying criminals out of government for a while now.
Hope the new DOJ will prosecute those that steal and conspire to destroy our country.

  24. kevinbrown says:

What I really find disappointing in watching this clip is the fact that Joe Biden gave the McCain campaign so much ammunition with his bone headed comment about Obama being tested. Biden “guaranteed that if Senator Obama is elected, we will have an international crisis to test Americas new president” I don’t know what useful purpose those comments were meant to serve but I think that Biden needs to stick to a script from now on – no more talking off the top of his head. Also Biden needs to stop acting conciliatory towards McCain/Palin. For example after making her disgusting “pro-America parts of the country” statement Sarah Palin tried unsuccessfully to back-track while on her campaign plane. When told of this Joe Bidens response was “I accept the Governors clarification”.

  25. A Patriot Acting says:

I seriously feel that the GOP’s tactic is to offer the presidency to someone who holds a desire for the prestigious title (Bush and McCain). Strategically place someone in the VP spot who the neocons can deal with to further their warped agenda (Cheney and Palin). Neither fool from these two pairs of “leaders” is in charge at all. The GOP works like a single entity. It needs to push a candidate for appearances that the masses will accept as their President and his VP. If the vote is anywhere near close, they can fix it with their Diebold friends and voter suppression tactics. Get their puppet in place and it’s off to the races! Sure looks like the way that it worked the last few go-arounds for the GOP and sure looks like what’s happening this time as well.

  26. 5th Estate says:

Dear TP, you might save yourself the agony of carpal tunnel syndrome from having to write new post headlines every 15 minutes by simply adopting the following cut and paste format:

    McCain
    Palin
    Pfotenhauer
    Kristol
    Tucker Bounds
    Hannity

    Denies
    Contradicts

    Incites
    Dismisses

    Praises
    Vilifies

    Speaks For
    Does Not Speak For

    Knows
    Doesn’t Know

    East Coast Liberals
    Real Americans
    Terrorists
    Community Workers
    Elitists

    Policy
    Values

    Lies
    Distorts

    Joe Sixpack
    Joe the Plumber
    Joe Lieberman

    Stupid
    Insane
    Clueless
    Plummets

    And
    The
    Now
    It
    Despite

That lot should pretty much every post headline you will have to write between now and January 20th 2009.

    You’re welcome!

Gimme a break. Palin doesn’t even HAVE a policy of her own. The only thing she’s “backtracking” on is a statement for which she hadn’t been given the proper script.

    Also she sucks moose berries!

Listen folk: Even McCain doesn’t speak for the McCain campaign.

That way, both of them can work on the 20%ers by saying whatever is convenient at the time, knowing that no one will ever fact check them.

And of course the press will not report it. So who is to know ?
