Savage: ‘The only people who don’t seem to vote based on race are whites of European origin.’
Yesterday, conservative talker Michael Savage joined Rush Limbaugh and Mike Gallagher in arguing that Gen. Colin Powell’s endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) was based entirely on race. As Media Matters first noted, Savage expanded on his argument by claiming, “[T]he only people who don’t seem to vote based on race are whites of European origin.” Listen here:
Powell said specifically during his Meet the Press appearance that his endorsement was not based on Obama’s race. “If I had only had that in mind, I could have done this six, eight, 10 months ago,” he remarked.

Plus if African Americans only voting on the basis of skin color, Bill Clinton wouldn’t have gotten 80-85% of the “black vote” and Gore/Kerry/Dukakis wouldn’t have gotten +90% of the “black vote.”

So, we now know what they really think. They are projecting their own racism onto Gen. Powell. They are also insinuating that he’s too stupid to vote any other way.
I can’t wait for Obama to win, and win big, and really give these hatemongers something to talk about.

Yes, there are still a handful of Hillary supporters bitter about their candidate’s loss. Things got rough in the primary, and everyone has their opinion about the various candidates. Don’t forget, however, that for every true “I used to be a Hillary Supporter and I absolutely despise Obama for his Primary so I will vote McCain”, there are 2 to 4 “I’m just going to stay home or not vote the top of the ticket, 5 to 7 who will support the Democratic candidate for the General, and … dare I say, at least 5 ‘faux Democrats’ who only voted for Hillary in the Primary so they could have who their masters thought was the weaker candidate for the primary. “Operation Chaos”, anyone?

After the pastor incident they were sucking all the reichwing koolaid big time.
After the primaries ended my Mom started researching Obama, and from what she read she and my Dad became Obama supporters, big time. They saw that there really wasn’t much difference between the candidates positions.
My Dad is spending six weeks at a VA training for the blind and visually impaired, and was watching the Veep debates with his veteran geezer patient mates in the rec room. Every one was hooting and hollering every Palin jab, and booing Biden for his replies.
After the debate one of the louder geezers nudged my Dad on the arm and asked, Well, what do you think?
My Dad replied, as he tapped his cane to the door…

Unfortunately, the fact that he’s still on the air means he has an audience. And it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a number of people in his audience who are whites of European origin who are voting for McCain because he’s a white person of European origin.
Of course, so is Obama. But I guess it’s the half of his genes that AREN’T of European origin that has Savage’s panties in a wad.
October 21st, 2008 at 7:46 pmOn an encouraging note, I think that it’s become apparent that, according to recent polls, the “audience” for Savage and his ilk are the same 20% bottom feeders who were able to outvote an apathetic majority in 2000 and ‘04. I think that the brutal incompetence of the Chimp’s reign has removed the apathy. People are fed up, pissed off, and frightened. While weird things can happen, I think that the “moderate majority” will speak volumes on election day and take our country back from the criminals who have perverted our values.

I just turned down an offer to join some buddies for some raptor banding on the Jersey shore. I could claim it as professional time but I recently had to take some personal time for a family matter so I think it unwise.

I’ve been going with the natural method for a couple years, since my neck got old. I just let the algae flourish and rip out a few hands-full a week. I haven’t done a water change in that time, except when cleaning the filters. The fish have never done better and I still have zero nitrates!
Though, to be fair, it’s not a “true reef tank”. I have home-grown live rock, courtesy of a friends quarry, that I seeded with rubble my favorite store couldn’t sell. I figure, rather than buying hideously expensive live-rock which mostly dies off, I just have the stuff that will thrive in my system.

However, if it were strictly race, wouldn’t Powell have supported Alan Keyes in 2004? (Keyes, also African American, ran against Obama for US Senate in ‘04) And as I think about it (I’m a white guy) millions of blacks have been voting for thousands of whites for hundreds of years – I think it’s way past time that they had an opportunity to vote for someone of their own race and I will be joining them (actually, I live in Oregon, so I have already voted).
