Today, the Washington Post published statements posted on al-Hesbah, an extremist website with ties to al Qaeda, which declared the terrorist group “will have to support McCain in the coming election.” The site said if al Qaeda wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, “impetuous” McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The McCain campaign swiftly disavowed the statements, arranging a conference call with top national security advisers Randy Scheunemann and James Woolsey. Woolsey declared that the post was not an endorsement but was in fact clearly intended to boost McCain’s opponent, by providing a “kiss of death” to McCain’s campaign:
WOOLSEY: This individual knows that the endorsement of people like him is a kiss of death, figuratively and literally. So it seems to me it’s pretty clear that, by making this statement, that he wants — it would be a good thing for McCain to be president, he’s clearly trying to damage John McCain, not speaking from his heart.
However, just minutes earlier in the call, Scheunemann went through a laundry list of “bad guys” who support Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), cited dubious quotes from Hamas, Iranian President Ahmadinejad, and Muammar al-Gaddafi of Libya. In fact, the McCain campaign pounced on Hamas’s endorsement of Obama in March. “If Senator Obama is favored by Hamas, I think people can make judgments accordingly,” McCain declared ominously.
When a reporter pointed out the contradiction, Woolsey replied that the difference was that McCain’s endorsement came from “simply an individual blogger,” saying that this extremist’s true concern about a McCain presidency “seems very clear to me, frankly.” So when a terrorist supports McCain, it’s a head fake, but when one supports Obama it’s a legitimate issue voters should “make judgments” on?

Then again, it doesn’t take too much to make the McCain camp look stupid these days — and most of it is their own doing. 1) the people that Woolsey referred to are actually leaders of countries/areas that are legitimate “targets” for improved diplomatic relationships; the endorsement of McCain comes from pure terrorists interested in damaging the U.S.
2) the “endorsements” of Obama have been made in an open fashion through media; the al Qaeda support for McCain was found written in Arabic on a password-protected website (hardly directed at an American audience as a “head fake”).
McNumbNuts and Woolsey aren’t fooling anyone with their desperate press conference. Any American who has watched the folly of the past eight years knows that the terrorists are very interested in seeing to it that GDumbya is replaced with an unstable, erratic, senile old fool like McNumbNuts.

Historically speaking AlQ has endorsed democratic candidates and this election isn’t really any different except they finally realize that when they attempt to ‘endorse’ a candidate, it looks extremely bad. I mean, duh, right?
It sounds silly to say that they’d be playing head games but its probably true. The spokesmen for the group are well aware of the ‘terrorist’ bullshit charges that are being tossed in Obama’s direction and this is an attempt to walk that back a little and yet still do their best to think of themselves as politically relevant in the US.
Their interests, either way, are tough to understand but if the base motive (minus the violence) is “West out of the Mid-East”, which is also the Leftist view, and my own, then sure, a Democrat is a better idea.

Not only did the morons in the Chimp administration do al Qaeda’s bidding by taking out their old enemy, Saddam, but they also wanted to expand the war to take on al Qaeda’s other enemy in the region: Shia Iran. Double plus good for al Qaeda, not so good for us.
Now, thanks to Smirky the Chimp’s brilliant “war on terra,” the US is broke and our economy is in the toilet, our armed forces are over-stretched, and al Qaeda (via the Taliban) is once again breaking bad in Afghanistan. It looks like we’ve got them right where they want us.

His policies (and, by extension, McCain’s) have led to an unprecidented surge in al Qaeda recruitment and a complete destablization of the Middle East. Both our CIA and our State Department have reported that there are more terrorists and terrorist attacks today than before the 9-11 attack so Bush/McCain style foreign policy is, by definition, better for terrorists.

And of course, AQ cannot win USA militarily so they need to make sure “the great satan” (or whatever they call USA) uses massive amounts of resources and thus bleed sort of to death in this way. Nothing suprising about this nor about blowbacks. With operation cyclone Zbig + Carter made sure that the Soviets had their own ‘Nam in Afghanistan in the late 70’s and also during the 80’s. It contributed to the downfall of the Soviet Union. So of course AQ would want to use the same tactic. They need US presence in the middle-east so that a “holy war” is an easier sell.
