I agree it’s a good article. However, to set the record straight (no pun intended): Newt Gingrich is actually on marriage #3. He famously told his first wife he wanted a divorce while she was recuperating in the hospital from a cancer operation. He was cheating on wife #2 with one of his female staffers, while trying to get Bill Clinton impeached for an extramartial blow job. He has since divorced wife #2 and married his staffer/mistress.
I really love Republiscum family values, don’t you?

I agree. It’s such a non-issue. The only threat to “traditional marriages” are the multi-married “anti-gay-marraige” folks.

When these people can’t keep their first marriage from falling apart, they rush off to marriage number two.

When they can’t keep their second marriage from falling apart, they rush off to marriage number three.

When they can’t keep their third marriage from falling apart, they rush off to marriage number four.

Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. . . . .

Yup, that is the ONLY threat to (supposed) “traditional marriage” available, but these people try to bring up wedge issues because they have nothing else to do with their lives. Except search for the next marriage. . . . . .

This is beyond stupid. Hagan’s strongest challenger in the primary was Jim Neal, an openly gay man. Neal gained quite a bit of grassroots support, especially given that he had no prior political profile in North Carolina. The fact that an openly gay man could run for Dole’s seat shows you just how much traction this issue has. Loser wedge for a loser candidate. We cannot wait to Dump Dole!

I have yet to come across any religious text that doesn’t have some nice made up stories asking people to act nicely. I don’t find any more convincing than any other. Yes I know you don’t like to consider anything biochemical so carry on. Still I don’t have a clue what the hell that last sentence means but then again there is no evidence to support a hell so I don’t give a damn about that either. You forgot to suggest that without that big old book of quaint stories people might end up wanted to marry hampsters…
