Palin derides ‘elites,’ but then says she rejects labels.

During an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams which aired tonight, Gov. Sarah Palin offered two contradictory statements in the span of just a few minutes. When asked who is “an elite,” Palin answered: “Oh, I guess just people who think they’re better than anyone else.” Moments later, here’s how Palin responded when asked if she’s a “feminist”:

I’m not gonna label myself. And I think that’s what annoys a lot of Americans – especially in a political campaign – is to start trying to label different parts of America, different backgrounds.

Watch it:

Palin seemed not to realize that, just minutes earlier, she was labeling different parts of America.

Palin is most definitely not elite, she is a calculating, ignorant, superstitious, parasite on the tax payers of Alaska and her own party. She and her family are nothing but a bunch of 2 bit grifters. Want a label, Welfare Queens soulds appropriate.

Holy moose poop she is the one labeling parts of America.

  3. gummitch says:

Elite! Rove was blathering earlier about the “media elite” or the “elite media” or whatever childish b.s. he was mouthing. As if Karl Rove was a Man of the People, driving around the country in his Chevy Impala, eating at the local diner, and buying his clothes at J C Pennys.

Palin is going to have a difficult time selling that to any but the mouthbreathers now that her shopping spree is all over the news. “You elites! Put that on my charge card!”

  4. lurker says:

gummitch Says:“You elites! Put that on the RNC’s charge card!”

    I fixed that for ya.

The gift that keeps on giving. She’s as mean as she is stupid.

  6. Shayne says:

Oh she thinks she’s clever doesn’t she. Too bad she never learned to form a coherent sentence.

  7. dasm says:

Palin is a very sorry, confused individual. She has, apparently, no clue whatsoever about American politics. She is, bluntly, a loser, an ignorant, an American non-important.

  8. ChrisSEA says:

“is to start trying to label different parts of America, different backgrounds.”

Wait a minute. Hasn’t she been out talking to parts of the country she labels more ‘pro-American’ than others.

Big scoobie-do moment on that. Yikes.

  9. Bozo The Neoclown says:

i got a label for palin but, it’s not used in polite company outside of a kennel

  10. spencers mom says:

Palin seemed not to realize that, just minutes earlier, she was labeling different parts of America.

Isn’t “labeling” the basis, if not the entire substance, of their campaign?

Palin’s complete lack of depth makes her as unable to engage in self-reflection as her running mate, John McScreed. You betcha.

    PEACE

Bush is stupid and cold-hearted: Cheney is evil incarnate with a steel-encased heart, and ice in his veins.
McCain is old, confused and soul-less: Palin is clueless, phony, selfish and mean.

I warned Brian Williams to take some aspirn with him to the interview with Palin because she will give you a headache with her dumb answers. I guess I was right, hope Brian listen to my advice.

Not to mention she’s the one labeling parts of America either “pro” or “anti” American.

She’s like a 14 year old special ed student. Idiot.

apparently, repeatedly claiming to anyone who will listen obama “pals around with terrorists” isn’t a label in her book

  20. one more clue says:

OK, I know I don’t pay closse enough attention to shifts in the language, but when did “elite” come to mean “I suspect he’s smarter than I am and I don’t like it”? Is this just a normal part of the dumbing down of a certain portion of the American public?

  21. RandomChaos says:

    Bozo The Neoclown,
I am so sorry to hear of your affliction you have named. I am sure there is some sort of medical treatment that will rid you of it. PreparationH comes to mind ;-)

  22. KayInMaine says:

Ummmm, Sarah Pee? An elitist is one who has the money, power and education. You didn’t know that? I suppose when you’re immersed in a pile of clothes worth $150,000 and running with the guy who is worth $100,000,000, owns 7-10 houses, @ 13 cars, and is inline with George Bush’s policies, I suppose this might escape you.

    Spit.

Enough. Stop trusting that the Republican party is honest, upholds the constitution, and can be trusted to do anything for the citizens of this country (unless those citizens are lobbyists for dictators, oil companies, and banks). Can somebody please tell Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Rahm Emmanuel and Steny Hoyer they need to prosecute somebody?

  26. AngryOne says:

In a 21st century update to the Republican war on “welfare queens,” John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin have tried to brand Barack Obama’s tax-cutting policies as “welfare” and “socialism.” But as it turns out, it is Palin who has emerged as the welfare queen of the 2008 campaign. From her family’s taxpayer-funded travel and gubernatorial perks in Alaska to her toney $150,000 wardrobe courtesy of the Republican National Committee, Sarah Palin is living the high life by depending on the kindness of strangers.

    For the detais, see:
    “Sarah Palin, Welfare Queen.”

Palin the Parasite. Maybee old John the Repetitious will remember to add that name to his endless stupid daily litany of Joe the P. The last Republican plumbers were involved in the Nixon crime wave in the early 1970s…

  33. Tawdry says:

When asking Palin about William Ayers and terrorists, Brian Williams missed an opportunity to question her about the Alaska Indepencence Party and founder Joe Vogler. He’s quoted as saying “my government’s my worst enemy. I’m going to fight them with any means at hand.” Vogler spoke at the UN in 1993 and convinced Iran to sponsor his remarks. Todd Palin, Sarah’s pal, was a member of the AIP for 7 years. Can’t understand why she gets a pass from the media on this.

  36. BobKincaid says:

Thank heaven for ironically-challenged blitherheads like Brian Williams. Had he any intelligence or wit at all, that comment from the Gawdzilla from Wasilla would’ve made his head explode and America would’ve had to watch an endless loop of it on NBC for the next two years, not to mention having all our dinners spoiled.

C’mon: is there anyone among us who can imagine a pitiable, pathetic answer like that being given to Walter Cronkite? Can any of us imagine even Andy Rooney tolerating such a loopy excuse for human speech?

We live in an age where the last people in the country who can actually give an appropriate response to Palin’s sort of drivel are Jon Stewart and David Letterman.

    And that’s the way it is . . .

I ran out of words to describe the Alaskan twit. I should get a medal just for surviving in watching the Geezer and Gidget show. Her interviews are just nauseating to watch.

  40. smallcheese says:

In that same interview, McCain chimed in and said that he knew where the elites lived. In New York City and Washington D.C. Elites, McCain?? Like those “elites” who were killed by terrorists on 9/11 in New York City and Washington D.C.????
McCain is a total disgrace for a human being!

  41. Shin Gallon says:

Republicans are perfect case studies of cognitive dissonance in action.

  42. CageyCretin says:

Well, that republican/neocon definition of elite explains why their military ventures do so poorly:

“We have a problem, let’s send in the elite corps…”

“No, we don’t want those elite, snooty, think-they’re better than us soldiers in there…”

    “But, that’s NOT what eli….”

“Quiet, you! Send in those young down-home boys. They are real-americans, not those elite ones. Those elite soldiers are anti-American. You betcha.”

Every special forces soldier should kick the nearest republican in the groin simply for that this comment was spoken by someone in the republican party.

The Republican party: rewriting the definitions of the english language since the 1940’s.

  43. misshusseinmolly says:

Sarah continues to amaze us all with her grasp of the English language (or rather, her lack of it).

Sarah — the word you want is “elitist”. That could refer to somebody who thinks he’s better than everyone else, and furthermore thinks that’s important. “Elite” applies to somebody who actually IS better than everyone else, whether he thinks it’s important or not.

Obama is elite in a number of areas — intelligence, leadership, knowledge, scholastic ability, and good old-fashioned class. But he’s no elitist.

Could someone please explain to Palin and her supporters that a whole lot of Americans would love to have her income and net worth.

SHE IS NOT THE AVERAGE INCOME BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.

Not to mention that rather than using the Mean, the average income is more accurately reflected by the median !
