GOP lawmakers repeatedly call liberals ‘anti-American’ on House floor.

CQ’s Jonathan Allen notes that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Rep. Robin Hayes (R-NC), and Rep. Randy Kuhl (R-NY) aren’t alone in believing that progressives are “anti-American” or “hate real Americans.” In fact, on the House floor on Sept. 17, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) said that Democrats were for “anti-American energy, just as many other things that they support seem to be anti-American power and anti-American control.” In the past year, Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) has called Columbia University and a Los Angeles Superior Court judge “anti-American” for opposing the war in Iraq.

UPDATE: Watch Foxx’s comments here:

So what’s going to happen next?

Will the righties start demanding libs meet them on the school playgrounds at 3:00 o’clock to have this out, once and for all?

What next, “Liberals” will have to wear yellow triangles on their clothing? “Liberals” will have their shops and homes trashed by “Right Thinking, Decent” Americans? How far this country has fallen from its ideals is embodied by these…people. Tolerance, decency and kindness, these are Liberal ideas, and they Are Not Anti-American ideas, no matter how loudly and shrily these maniacs screech.
Impeach Pelosi, Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution!
Vote The Maniacs Out on November 4th and Re-Claim America!

It really is starting. I pray (and I’m an atheist so that says something) that Obama wins this election. He wasn’t even my first choice, nor my second or third, but if for no other reason he has my vote because this sh!t is scary.

If McCain wins the election, with Scarah Failin’ as his VP “gettin’ in there with the Senators and makin’ policy changes” you can betcha that it will become increasingly unsafe to walk the streets in this country as an open liberal/lefty/Democrat/socialist whatever.

ACORN employees have received death threats.
People have found their “Obama/Biden 2008″ signs burned on their lawns.
People at McCain/Palin rallies are approaching “Two Minutes Hate” levels of frenzy and rhetoric.
A reporter was assaulted at a McCain rally for laughing when some students started blasting an Obama campaign song from their dorm window.
We’ve already heard about a few wingnuts plotting to assassinate Obama, too bad Bush’s FBI and SS deemed them “not credible threats” even though they had motive, opportunity, and WEAPONS, as well as STATED PLANS to use them.

I’m worried what I will see or hear next.

Can someone explain to me what the fu(k is AMERICAN energy exactly? I’m sure she means off-shore drilling, but how is that strictly American? How can you have energy, which is an inanimate noun, be ANTI anything?

And another thing, just because I don’t think America should control the entire fu(king planet like an evil empire does NOT, repeat, does NOT make me anti-America.

I prefer something a bit more descriptive since there are a$$holes on the Democratic side as well (just look at Steny Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi, Lieberman especially).

    THEY ARE FASCIST PIGS.

  11. Mr. Evil says:

Be a good little American. Don’t ask questions. Don’t hope for a better life. Don’t criticize the war. Support the troops so they’ll want to stay in Iraq. Women should be obedient, not paid more. Be patriotic because and don’t forget to wear your lapel pin flag. We know what’s best for you. Jesus is coming home and that home is America! You don’t want to be considered Anti-American, do you?

In all seriousness, republicans make you want to puke, don’t they? They are diseased.

  12. larkohio says:

I am truly tired of people saying that I don’t love my country, that the people I support for public office do not love the country, and probably my cat doesn’t love the country. This is just smoke and mirrors to get their own darn way! “If you don’t give me another cookie, then I hate you!” Bunch of garbage. And btw, have you ever been in a part of the USA that was anti-American? No, I didn’t think so.

As Obama said, “We all put our country first.”

  13. wearechange says:

The perfect usage. It allows them to throw red meat to their rednecked cohort, while giving themselves a chance to play the “gotcha” victim, if someone objects.

I only said it seems that way, and you liberals mischaracterized what I said!

  26. unbelievable says:

It was not coincidental that Colbert’s book was titled “I am America, and so can you!”

This is how these people think. “I am American, therefore my opinion is pro-America. If you disagree with me, ergo you are anti-American”. People like Bachmann really believe it. It goes without saying they are dumb and dangerous, but it is the Republican leadership which gives them a platform. They are the ones who foment this nonsense.

Have you ever noticed that people who believe in creationism look really unevolved?
“I believe God made me in one day.”
“Well, yeah, it looks like he rushed it.” Their eyes are too close together, and no thumbs. They see people with thumbs on TV all day long, that’s gotta pi$s em off huh? OOH OOH AAH AAH!!!!

    tres americans…

  38. DRxJ says:

So, if Jesus were to return today, he’d be un-American?
    Huh. Never knew that.

The conservative core is increasingly losing it’s base, and popularity. Proof positive is when they have to resort to vile, mAnn Coulter like attacks.

    Obama, you da man!

Let’s take a look at my day today. I have it off. I got the kids fed and off to school. I went to the gym. I’m now eating homemade chili while surfing the Internet, and waiting for my sprinkler system to be “winterized”. Later, I will drop off extra clothing and food to a church organization, pick up the kids, help them with homework, maybe grill a steak or two for dinner, with a nice red wine, then tuck the kids to bed after reading to them.
Wow! Can’t get more anti-American that that!

un-A·mer·i·can [uhn-uh-mer-i-kuhn] Pronunciation Key – Show IPA Pronunciation
    –adjective
not Republican; not characteristic of or proper to the GOP; foreign or opposed to the characters, values, standards, goals, etc., of the Republican party

A TRULY “democratic” Party would have gone to the Fooking wall for ‘habeas corpus,” would have prevented the PATRIOT ACT from being enacted, would have cut off their arms before voting for FISA. They would have actually SACRIFICED to preserve democracy.

Instead there’s Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, and the rest, finding excuses why they HAD to fold like cheap muslin…

  42. liberal traitor says:

A TRULY “democratic” Party would be made up of nothing but people like Bernie Sanders, Ted Kennedy, Russ Feingold, Dennis Kucinich etc.

  43. CageyCretin says:

    Uncle Ho Says:
    GOP = Nazi

Oh, no, no, no, no… goodness, golly willikers, no. That is such a bad characterization. Just because GOP policy and actions and rhetoric and strategy and tactics and wishes all seem to be exaclty like a (barely) modernized version of the Nazi party, the GOP is actually the Republican party. The difference is clear. Nazi doesn’t sound at all like GOP, and it has an extra letter. And, anyway, it was Clinton who was responsible for Hitler’s rise to power, so also, ummm, it is obvious if you look, also, at the information that was out at the time, and it was good information, you betcha, that the liberal democrats are fascist because Clinton was. Gosh darn it.

I deny saying that I denied ever not wanting to think I might say that or something like that in the possible past present or future, perhaps, and with the caveat that I maybe possibly didn’t ever actually do so, relatively speaking.

Wow, Nazi Party tactics at work in the GOP. Of course, it’s not the first time. Next thing you know, conservatives will force all liberals to register and wear an identifying armband. After that comes to labor camps. After that, the death camps.

I’m the only liberal in my entire family. I never bring up politics at the dinner table, for fear they will eat me alive. They all watch the likes of Hannity, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Savage, and an assortment of others (mainly @ Fox News), ad nauseum. Despite my family’s right wing nuttiness, they will never get me to change my beliefs, even if they alienate me.

In the neocon’s defense (as much as I loathe their actions):

in their worldview, it appears that the “Real” America of their experience is imploding. Priviledge based on parental units is eroding. The law is now coming out against the “robber barons” and even doing away with seperate water fountains specifically tailored for personal features. America is no longer the single monolithic determinant of military power nor of the economy.

A monolithic structure is falling to diversity.

To liberals, this represents progress. To the neocons, this is destruction of the American that they have idolized.
