Mahoney a no-show for debate.

mahoney.jpgA sell-out crowd at the Forum Club in West Palm Beach did not get what they came for this afternoon. A scheduled debate between Florida congressman Tim Mahoney (D) and his Republican challenger Tom Rooney did not take place as scheduled because Mahoney did not show up. He objected to the presence of TV cameras. Mahoney, who has admitted to having multiple affairs and may have paid off one of his mistresses, said the cameras would create a “circus” atmosphere. Rooney attended today had the entire event to himself, responding to questions posed by the moderator.

Update ABC reports that Mahoney demanded his mistress "attend fundraisers and 'tease c-ck' to bring in more donations from the male members of the public." He also reportedly demanded that she "engage in sexual conduct with another woman for his enjoyment."

If Mahoney loses I won’t complain. The man is a disgrace to his office, his family, his party and humanity. We’ll pick up more than enough seats to offset this asshole’s loss. No loss as far as I’m concerned.

  2. Trixie says:

Good for the goose. Good for the gander. He needs to go, whether he has a D or a R behind his name. It’s time for real CHANGE!

  3. chasemonster says:

This moron Mahoney was a Republican his entire life until he switched all of a sudden back in 2004.
Probably figured it would be easier to get elected as a Democrat.

  4. RandomChaos says:

Mahoney the Phoney. Closet (R) neocon trying to ride the coattails of of the (D)emocrats.
He can go the way of LIEberman, we don’t need him.

  5. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

Off with his head. We don’t need or want people like this in the Democratic party. Besides, he’s been more of a Republican than a Democrat in his lifetime. I say the Republicans can have him back.

  6. ralph the wonder llama says:

Don’t need ‘im. Don’t want ‘im.

    Kick ‘im to the curb.

  7. Coloradan says:

    Wow. Just, wow.

Talk about an election where “None of the above” should win.

  8. Wayne A. Schneider says:

This is not the behavior of one whose formal title includes the word “Honorable”. I hope he loses, and that the people in his district are well-represented by whoever wins.

    good bill maher tonight.

take the advice of tim robbins seriously.

    EVERYBODY MUST VOTE.

    it’s not a done deal…

    that’s all… g’nite.

  12. Mr. Evil says:

Mahoney, he’s nothing but a low down, dirty dealing, back stabbing, larcenous, perverted worm! Hanging’s too good for him! Burning’s too good for him! He should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive!

Shitty politicians (which is most of them) always find ways to bring out the best in me.

  13. Jim says:

I agree with the commenters above. This guy is an unmitigated scumbag, and he doesn’t deserve to represent the people of Florida in Congress. Rooney is a garden-variety Republican whom we’ll need to oust with a DECENT Democrat in 2010.

    More Democrats, BETTER Democrats!

  14. mdeemer says:

Ewwww. Let the process eliminate him! Amazing that the guy hasn’t crawled away to hide in shame, but we all know some political people have no sense of limits…

  16. scytherius says:

This moron needs to go. I could give two hoots in Hell if he is a Dem or a R. If I were in that district I’d vote for the R and I don’t even know who it is.

  18. The Republic of Stupidity says:

I have never known him to do anything immoral… see? Unless maybe the Preschooler’s Prostitute Ring…

And he has never done anything illegal… unless you count all the times he sold dope disguised as a nun.

Liberal or progressive does not mean you leave your morals and ethics at the door – just the opposite – I have no respect for anyone who cheats on their spouce.

I lost all respect on John Edwards on that one….I understand that it is a personal matter, and none of my business, but I would never, ever, cheat on my wife.

  21. celtic cynic says:

I’m sure that he was ‘preying’ in a church somewhere; just too busy to attend the debate.

  22. impeachcheneythenbush says:

Mahoney was elected in 2006, replacing Mark Foley (of the page emailing scandal). It’s been hard for Democrats to get elected in Florida, and we were all delighted with his victory. Mahoney describes himself as a born-again Christian and a “family values” guy. His behavior is sickening, and I’ve heard his wife is filing for divorce. Good for her! But the worst thing about this guy is the hypocrisy, and it doesn’t matter which side of the aisles that occurs on (remember Vitter). I saw the “debate” with Tom Rooney last night. He’s actually fairly reasonable for a Republican. Sure hate to lose that Dem seat in the House.

The way it should be …………You’re both very lucky people.

    BTW

    Mahoney is a d0uchebag ………

  24. leekinny says:

I wonder if there’s a Green party candidate running. If so, that’s where people, in that district, should place their vote.

I think Greens should be working to be a strong caucus WITHIN the Democratic party, anyway.

  25. bigeugene says:

Why has this guy not quit yet? Unbelievable. What a scumbag.

  26. stateofthedivision says:

Throw out the sleazeballs, regardless of party. There are many CorporaDemocrats that need to clean up their act. Included are:

    Max Baucus
    Kent Conrad
    Evan Bayh
    Harry Reid
    Mary Landrieu

Spending over $5 billion on races has distorted the impact and influence of money.

  27. Imichael says:

WAIT! WAIT! EVERYONE. HE SHOULD USE THE DAVID VITTER DEFENSE. JUST STROLL OUT TO A PRESS CONFERENCE WITH HIS WIFE STANDING BEHIND HIM WEARING A LEOPARD COLORED DRESS AND EXPRESS HIS REGRET. IT WORKS FOR THE REPUBLICANS. US DEMORCRATS SAYS HE HAS TO GO

  28. Zooey says:

What a worthless dooshbag. He deserves to lose this race.

  29. Curlew says:

#6. By saying “off with his head” as you did you just threatened the life of a sitting member of Congress. We complain when the Repignofascists make similar comments about Barack Obama, yet you think its ok for you to make the same threat?? I’d suggest you listen to Rush the rest of the campaign so you can pick up more pointers on being a putz.

    ___________

Get over yourself. Bilbo didn’t threaten anybody’s life.

You’re coming across like a concern troll.

  31. Jeremy in Denver says:

    #33:

If Curlew is a Concern Troll, I gladly join him in that category when I say two wrongs do not make a right and ‘off with their head’ means decapitation which means death, so yes, he did in fact threaten this douchbag’s life. You can’t pick and choose what your words mean, no matter how much you would like to try to.

With that said, I say let the douchbag lose his seat. Yes, it was a big pickup from Foley, but this c*mstain could definitely use to be sent packing and hopefully a good Democrat allowed to take his place. Misanthropes of both parties should be sent home for the good of the nation. Period.
