On Oct. 22, Washington Post media reporter Howard Kurtz ran a story about Bill O’Reilly’s lucrative new deal with Fox News — a four-year contract under which he will make more than $10 million annually. Accompanying the story was a picture of O’Reilly with the label “right-wing pundit.” But in today’s Corrections, the Washington Post says it was “incorrect” to use that term:
A photo caption in the Oct. 22 Style section incorrectly referred to Bill O’Reilly as a “right-wing pundit.” The Fox News host presents himself as an independent.
aka chicken-wing pundit.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:30 pmAnd Fox presents itself as Fair and Balanced. Just because one labels themself as something, doesn’t mean it is fact. The WP should get a spine.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:30 pmActually he’s an independent fundit who struggled up from poverty (private school) to make his way in the world.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:33 pmSince when are psychotic Nazis called independents?
October 24th, 2008 at 4:33 pmKudos to the WP for the correction.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:34 pmWhy give right wingers a bad name?
The WP’s spine died with Katherine Graham.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:34 pmSomehow I think there were lawyers involved…
October 24th, 2008 at 4:36 pmJust like our trolls!!
October 24th, 2008 at 4:36 pmincorrectly referred to Bill O’Reilly as a “right-wing pundit.” The Fox News host presents himself as an independent.
– - The next time O’Reilly votes for any Democrat will be the first time.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:36 pmIndependent(ly) obtuse.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:37 pmI don’t care if he “presents himself” as a 6-year-old Taiwanese girl. They don’t get to just make stuff up. He is what he is, and calling him a “right-wing pundit” is putting it mildly. Extremist radical far-right blowhard would be more accurate.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:37 pmBeing a “right-wing pundit” and allegedly being registered as an “Independent” are not mutually exclusive. I am registered as Independent, but if I had went on a political cable show, it would soon be obvious that I’m a “left-wing pundit”. Besides, he used to be registered to vote as a Republican.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:37 pm“The Fox News host presents himself as an independent.”
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah, oh God, you can’t make this stuff up! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
October 24th, 2008 at 4:37 pmWashington Post correction: O’Reilly is not a ‘right-wing pundit’; he’s an ‘independent.’»
– - WaPo was desperate to lose that moniker of “East Coast Elite Liberal Media” that O’Reilly hung on them.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:39 pmOn the topic of THINKING about PROGRESS, maybe you could have a post that is in that vein.
We’ve got:
McCain
Palin
Palin
Card
Allen
Palin
McCain
Rove
O’Reily
Can we get something to looks toward the future?
October 24th, 2008 at 4:48 pmAs the sucking whirlpool of the whight-wing wacktoids begin to spin ever faster, watch all of our favorite neo-con pundits desperately try to reinvent themselves to keep from being gulped into oblivion.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:48 pmWashington Post correction: O’Reilly is not a ‘right-wing pundit’; he’s an ‘independent.’»
Right-wing blowhard would be more accurate.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:49 pmUpside Down Crazy World!
October 24th, 2008 at 4:49 pmYou know, they say that, frequently, your first instincts are correct. WaPo should have trusted theirs – their initial report was right on target.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:50 pmThey left out “hack.”
October 24th, 2008 at 4:50 pmWTF?
October 24th, 2008 at 4:51 pmWTF?
McCain, Palin and Bill’O: Let it get mavericky in there.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:52 pmCan I “present myself” as President of the United States? Does that make it true?
October 24th, 2008 at 4:53 pmYea RIGHT!! Who’s the last dem you voted for BillO.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:54 pmLipstick on a …
October 24th, 2008 at 4:54 pmI hereby present myself as the Queen of England.
Bill-o can present himself any way he wants, but he is an extreme right wing, blowhard, conceited, egomaniacal a$$.
October 24th, 2008 at 4:58 pmIf Bill O’Reilly is an Independent, Andrea Mackris is a slanderer.
Just saying . . .
October 24th, 2008 at 4:59 pmRadical right-wing hysteric is more like it.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:00 pmAlcoholicInside says:
October 24th, 2008 at 5:08 pmWTF?
What? “Fascist gasbag” was taken? How about “sex offender”?
October 24th, 2008 at 5:10 pmAh! The stupid troll is one of the, out of work, writers from the “Half Hour News Hour” or whatever the 16 episode wonder was called. GOoPers just can’t do satire. Very sad.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:11 pmThese guys will say and do anything dishonest.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:16 pmThis man should be understood as a failed right wing thug. That is, he tries to be one, and the threats and encouragements of violence, from that directly issued to Al Franken, wished upon the city of San Francisco, and many other such incidents, bear out this conclusion. But since his modus operandi is to a) make immoderate, extreme statements, b) psychotically deny making them, c) proceed to threaten, abuse and slander those who point out the video or audio recordings of these statements, he is after all just a laughing stock and a pitiful buffoon.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:16 pmBut it is a tragedy that any decent person takes him seriously, and appears on his dishonest show. Just recently, as Kieth Olbermann pointed out yesterday, he made an utter idiot out of himself for the 50th time, by arrogantly misstating how long ago it was that Gordon Liddy explained how to properly murder federal law enforcement personnel– it was ten years ago in fact, not 20. All of this in the context of claiming some great terrorist status of Ayers, established 40 years ago. Of course that was back when people like the ugly American McCain was helping the USA kill 5000 people a week with his F4’s napalm, anti-personnel weaponry, and apparently 2.5 World War II’s worth of aerial bombs, which ultimately totaled nearly 4 million people. It’s never mentioned as the true context of Ayers.
If he wanted to talk about a time frame around 20ish years ago, he can always mention the fellow right winger Timothy McVeigh, who murdered 170 Americans, while occupying the conservative fringe, just where Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh, and other right wingers pushed him with their lies. At that time, we heard numerous tender explanations of why we should have sympathized with the extremist, from such as Newt Gingrich. So much for domestic terrorists.
But in any case, he has inspired a great new sandwich, the Billo: Falafel on Loofah bread.
Indepundit.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:18 pmO’Reilly “presents himself” as an independent.
Palin “presents herself” as qualified.
McCain “presents himself” as a maverick.
Hannity “presents himself” as a journalist.
Nixon “presents himself” as not a crook.
People lie.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:21 pmThey ALL say they’re independent. Bill may in fact believe that he is. For all I know, he may actually believe he’s, oh, a journalist or something.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:21 pmNorman Bates believed his mother was alive.
It’s all kind of sad.
ANY label for Falafel Bill that doesn’t include the words “bully,” “fascist,” and “shithead” is inaccurate and objectively wrong…
October 24th, 2008 at 5:40 pmDill Do’LIElly is nothing but a incredibly egotistical blowhard. He’s so full of himself it’s sickening. He must have had some serious childhood issues to become the type of adult he is.
On a more serious note, one of these days the mainstream will recognize the poison people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, and the rest of the right wing talk radio hordes inject into our society. For 20 years they have been fanning the flames of hyper partisanship and an us against them mentality that serves absolutely no purpose other than to divide this nation.
In times passed, people like Dill Do’LIElly and the rest would be mocked and rendered to the shady corners of society.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:42 pm.
A Reich Ving Poondit…
.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:43 pmuggghh.. long day at work. Grammar is suffering.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:44 pmYah, right. Independant ultra right repugnant.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:54 pmDidn’t they mean to say “Right-wing-nut”?
Go to: http://www.buttheadpolice.com
Vote for BillO and other buttheads like Palin to get asses stamped on their heads. LOL. And pass it on…
October 24th, 2008 at 5:57 pmWhat I have found interesting, and amusing, is the way the Reichwhiners screech “RINO” over anyone, like Cloin Powell or former Mn Gov Arnie Carlson, who has followed their own wisdom to endorse Sen. Obama. These same idiots who try to maintain that their support is not political are completely unable to admit that anyone can make a choice, that doesn’t tow the party line, without being branded as some kind of traitor.
October 24th, 2008 at 5:59 pmbilly . . . is not aging well.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:12 pmCan we raise the income tax rate on right wing independents to say, 98%??
October 24th, 2008 at 6:16 pmDidgya ever notice how there are fewer and fewer conservatives, Republican, and right-wingers———-and more and more Independents and Libertarians. It’s the same people holding the same views along the lines of Attila the Hun, but they are no longer conservative, or to the right, or even Republicans—–they are Independents and Libertarians. Yessiree.
If I told the Washington Post that I was going to win the NBA scoring title, would they print that as fact, or would they want some kind of proof?
October 24th, 2008 at 6:21 pmI prefer “right-wing doosh nozzle”.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:32 pmHEY dont pick on oliely he is independent
independent of facts
October 24th, 2008 at 6:41 pmindependent of morals
independent of ethics
independent of his own sanity
but he is dependent of the bullshyt he relies on
The Fox News host presents himself as an independent.
———————
Well, I can present myself as the Queen of England, but that doesn’t make it true.
What a bunch of pussy’s they are at the WaPo. I bet Billo called them up and threw one of his patented temper tantrums.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:46 pmJust because a turd calls itself chocolate doesn’t make it so.
October 24th, 2008 at 9:49 pmIf it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck and look likes a duck—it’s a duck
October 24th, 2008 at 11:09 pmor in other words a conservative.
Independent? Independent to the right of Hitler maybe.
October 24th, 2008 at 11:53 pmWe know what Bill O’Reilly is. He’s an angry blowhard, of a type that most of us recognize.
October 25th, 2008 at 1:39 amOK, so BillO is a neocon right wingist that presents himself as a independent.
October 25th, 2008 at 3:58 amLushInterior Says:
You are a liar and a fool and you are NOT a Democrat nor do you know anything about them. You ARE a moron though, that is perfectly clear.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:23 amHe claims he is human too, and I have my doubts about that.
October 25th, 2008 at 12:00 pmYes, O’Reilly is an independent. And I have a bridge in Alaska for sale.
October 26th, 2008 at 1:11 amJust like the cold war when everyone who didn’t agree with the U.S. was either a communist or a communist sympathizer. toki This poor crazy guy spent half a decade being tortured because a bunch of stupid politicians araç sorgulama were sure the NVA was in bed with the Russians (minimal help) and/or the Chinese (ancient enemy of the vietnamese). ssk sorgulama You would think he would have learned from others’ mistakes. Guess not. Republicans need an enemy. key ödemeleri This century it apparently will be all Muslims, health all of whom must be alQaeda operatives.
