Joe McCain, the brother of John McCain, “said Friday he’ll withdraw from campaign activities after calling 911 to complain about traffic.” McCain called 911 in Alexandria, VA, and “used an expletive to the operator and hung up.” Listen to the call:
“I feel terrible about having hurt the campaign over this incident,” he said. “I won’t be doing any more campaigning because of that.”
Get OFF my LAWN!!!
Seems this inflated ego obsessed sense of self import seems to run in the family . . . .
October 25th, 2008 at 1:09 amFunny! Well, pretty funny. I mean, obviously, calling 911 for being caught in traffic isn’t funny, since it means the operator is tied up when someone might be having a real emergency. But Joe McCain’s sense of entitlement and general asshattery, that’s pretty hilarious.
October 25th, 2008 at 1:29 amWell, who woulda thunk it? John McCain is the more stable one in the family!
October 25th, 2008 at 1:31 amEven my six year old daughter knows that you only call 911 for emergencies. http://straighttalkonmccain.blogspot.com/
October 25th, 2008 at 1:40 amNotice that the trolls have been mysteriously MIA lately? Assault on white woman by angry black man for Obama turns out to be a hoax. Joe McCain turns out to be a nutjob who believes he deserves his own highway system. Sarah (just a hockey mom) Palin shops likes a celebrity at Saks and Nieman Marcus with $150,000 of campaign contributions just like all the other real American hockey moms. The republicans are just getting harder and harder to apologize for these days I guess.
October 25th, 2008 at 1:51 amSure he feels terrible for hurting the campaign…and I am curious if he has ever stated that he feels terrible about calling 911 to complain about traffic, or if he feels terrible for saying to a 911 operator (a guy just doing his job) “F#@$ You!”? Does he feel remorse for this? He feels terrible for the impact on his brother and himself, but not remorse for the impact of his hurtful and potentially dangerous actions on others?
October 25th, 2008 at 1:57 ampalin/mccain. more fun than punch & judy.
October 25th, 2008 at 2:16 amTo be fair, he should be prosecuted just as much as any non-famous person would under the circumstances. If they would pursue a criminal case against someone who they know violated 911 use and who they could clearly identify and confirm, then they should do so here. But if an apology is enough to get anyone else off the hook, then that’s what they should do here. fair is fair.
That being said, what an a$$hole.
October 25th, 2008 at 2:19 amIn all fairness to Joe McCain, he thought he was calling American Express’s Platinum Concierge line (1-800-492-8468). Notice how both phone numbers are composed of numerals? And both have a 1 and a 9 in them? In regards to the expletive, McCain had meant to dial the Platinum Concierge’s special “Tourette syndrome” 24 hr hotline.
October 25th, 2008 at 2:24 amSay it ain’t so Joe…..
…hey, where did I hear that before?
October 25th, 2008 at 2:29 amThe McCain campaign is the campaign that keeps giving and giving!
LOL you cant make this stuff up!
October 25th, 2008 at 2:40 amI provide systems administration for a local police jurisdiction PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) This includes both 911 emergancy as well as non-emergancy (via seperate number).
This jerkoff is not going to have anything legally done to him unfortunately. At most a small fine.
Here in California at least, it is only a crime if you abuse the emergancy line, by calling in false calls or other similar things.
We have had people call to find out the correct time!
One thing I dont think alot of people realize is that Dispatch operators are highly trained officers. Yes they have a badge, and some even are able to carry a weapon and have powers to arrest.
I have alot of respect for what these good people do, and what they have to put up with at times. You want to see REAL multitasking, visit your local 911 center.
I could never do it and I consider myself seriously adept at multitasking.
Anyhoo.. He is an Ass, and so is his Brother.
October 25th, 2008 at 3:02 amOh, and I am NOT a cop for you people out there wondering as you toke your splif! LOL You know who we are.
I have DOJ and DOD clearance, but that’s as far as it goes. My private life is no way related to my profession.
Cheers
October 25th, 2008 at 3:07 amThe McCain campaign is going down in flames, one stupidity, one misstep at a time.
I can already see their next attack ad: “I didn’t want to call but Obama made me do it!”
What idiots. No wonder their only tactic is personal attacks and innuendo: They cannot muster enough brain power for anything above gutter level.
October 25th, 2008 at 3:25 am….and Billy Carter was good for his brother too.
¶ AIO
October 25th, 2008 at 3:39 amYa know, those Grampa Abe Simpson (”Man Yells at Cloud”) references just seem more and more apropos.
October 25th, 2008 at 4:21 amthe new and improved straight talk express: now with expanded seating underneath!
October 25th, 2008 at 4:33 amJohn McFailure will blame his brother Joe for losing this election for the rest of his angry life.
GET OFF MY LAWN JOE!!!!!
CINDY CALL 911!!!!
October 25th, 2008 at 4:39 amJohn McFailure will blame his brother Joe for losing this election for the rest of his angry life.
McSame will forever regret getting a woody when he was shown pictures of MILF possible Veep picks.
October 25th, 2008 at 5:14 amI don’t blame Republicans for calling 911. Their party is fibrillating.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYxqSipov5E
October 25th, 2008 at 5:55 amMy friends, Joe the Brother is just like every real American; he shares your frustrations.
And like you, my friends, he takes action — bold, decisive action, which is what we need in these trying times.
You’ll be pleased to know, my friends, that when I’m president, I’ll be looking to Joe the Brother to serve alongside Joe the Plumber in my administration ’cause I’m a maverick.
October 25th, 2008 at 6:55 amIf McCain wins the election I will call 911.
October 25th, 2008 at 6:59 amLooks like the McCain campaign has a new hero – Joe The Dumber.
October 25th, 2008 at 7:06 amAnd McCain’s stepchild, McSurge, isn’t doing so well either:
Iraq’s prime minister won’t sign U.S. troop deal
By Roy Gutman
BAGHDAD — Fearing political division in the parliament and in his country, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki won’t sign the just-completed agreement on the status of U.S. forces in Iraq, a leading lawmaker said Friday.
The new accord’s demise would be a major setback for the Bush administration, which has been seeking to establish a legal basis for the extended presence of the 151,000 U.S. troops in this country, and for Iraq, which won notable concessions in the draft accord reached a week ago.
“No, he will not” submit the agreement to the parliament, Sheikh Jalal al Din al Sagheer, the deputy head of the Shiite Muslim Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, told McClatchy. “For this matter, we need national consensus.”
Instead, Sagheer said, Iraq’s political leaders are considering seeking an extension of the United Nations mandate for the presence of U.S. troops, which will expire on Dec. 31. Russia, a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, has assured Iraq that it wouldn’t veto an extension, he said, adding that one was likely to last between six months and a year.
I would love to see Johnny address this mess, but at this point, what’s the point? President Obama will simply have to prepare a new accord, in line with the “change” theme.
October 25th, 2008 at 7:44 amMcCain called 911 in Alexandria, VA, and “used an expletive to the operator and hung up.”
And what business has he, in the other Virginia?
Mccain should be outraged that his brother is hanging around with “those” Virginians.
October 25th, 2008 at 7:51 amRelax Joe, you didn’t hurt the campaign. It was going down to a historic defeat before your no brainer.
No one could match the damage your brother, John, and his running mate, Sarah, have done to themselves.
October 25th, 2008 at 8:29 amThe predominate theme here seems to be that everyone associated with the McCain campaign feels a sense of entitlement.Joe is entitled to a traffic free drive, because he’s John’s brother…Sarah’s entitled to the VP spot, even though she’s dumber than a box of rocks regarding the VP job, and McCain himself just feels he should be entitled to be President.Funny! Thought he was going to cut the “entitlement programs” out of his budget…COOL! Maybe he could start NOW. Good idea. Get rid of all of you…
October 25th, 2008 at 8:53 amSen. McCain’s tone deaf Campaign is responsible for his double digit deficit among independent Voters…
But the Senator is losing Big Time among other constituencies as well.
John Kerry lost the Catholic Vote by a slim margin, but Sen. McCain is losing Catholic voters by almost 2 to 1. This is largely the result of the collapsing economy, but also from the comments of Paster Hagee.
McCain supporter Paster Hagee called Cathlics ‘The Great Whore,’ the ‘apostate church,’ the ‘anti-Christ’ and a ‘false cult system’?
Sen. McCain also is losing the Hispanic vote 3 to 1 . His move to placate the anti illegal immigrant voters has backfired badly among Latino voters. This has given Sen. Obama the momentum in the critical Western states of Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:13 ami’m surprise little brother joe didn’t learn from from his older brother and call the 9-11 operator a stupid c*unt instead
October 25th, 2008 at 9:22 amMcCain’s stability has been in question recently – signs of senility in speech and behavior — perhaps the brother is exhibiting similarly and should cause the public to look at John McCain with even more scrutiny.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:26 amThese goons sure don’t like first responders much. First that Pennsylvania crazy who lied about her “big and black” attacker and then there’s this. What a crop of liars…
http://www.sunstateactivist.org/ssablog/
October 25th, 2008 at 9:34 amThe Pennsylvania “Crazy”, who lied about being attacked was…well crazy. The “B” (for Barack) on her face was apparently self inflicted, since it was Backwards using a mirror.
BUT…those McCain Spokesmen and political pundits who ran with this story without checking it out first were just Stupid.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:42 amIf anyone’s job is threatened, it’s Jon Stewart’s. I mean, how can The Daily Show top the rank buffoonery and amateur hour idiocy that is the GOP in general and the Gidget & the Geezer show in particular?
“Why am I in a traffic jam?, I couldn’t agree more ? $150 large for clothes for a ‘hockey mom?, I’m a feminist…no, I’m not..er? Acorn, Ayers, Aaaack?
Those angry, racist, lying republicans…the fake, unintentional comedy-reality news show, and a genuine threat to the real fake news shows.
October 25th, 2008 at 9:52 amThose McCain family dinners must have been a hoot Past the fu*king salt you a**hole Tell that cu*nt mother of ours to quit piling these mash potatoes on with a trowel
October 25th, 2008 at 10:09 amRemember this guy is the younger brother, by 7 years. You think of him as grandpa embarrassing everybody at the wedding reception, but Magoo is obviously beyond embarrassment.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:10 amI’m surprised the junior McDepends didn’t call for National Guard assistance to help him out ………….
October 25th, 2008 at 10:20 amI can’t believe that anyone would actually hold this against McCain/Palin… That would just be guilt by association. ;-)
October 25th, 2008 at 10:22 amAs I’ve nothing to add on this ‘Joe The Brother’ story I wandered over to Freeperville to see how “real Americans” were coping with real reality.
Not surprisingly I have to give them an ‘F’ for eFFort.
From a forum about the polling situation I found this little nugget:
COMMENT: “Another insight into battleground internal polling; any state that Obama is polling 50 percent and under is good for McCain, on election day Obama never exceeds the highest number in the polls leading up to election day. At least that was true in the primaries.”
Much to my surprise I have to agree with these ‘insights’; Any state where Obama doesn’t have a majority means that Obama doesn’t have a majority and is less likely to win.
I just don’t think anyone can argue with that logic.
Perhaps more importantly if Obama doesn’t get more votes in the general election than he did in the Party primaries then McCain could still win, because, you know, if all 12 million Clinton voters stay home and ONLY the Obama primary voters show up at the elction booths, then it’s McCain with a mandate!
So as long as that sceneario happens, the fundamentals of the McCain campaign are strong!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:28 amhanshiro Says: If anyone’s job is threatened, it’s Jon Stewart’s.
Funnily enough the BBC interviewed a bunch of comics at the Edinburgh Festival (a couple of months ago?) whose acts relied heavily on G.W. Bush and they all said that Bush’s departure was going to be a real hardship for them.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:34 amDon’t you know who I am!
Get all of these cars outta my yard!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:38 amJoe the Jackass!
October 25th, 2008 at 10:41 amOh yeah, Joe McCain also ‘explained’ before his ‘apology’ that when he said “f-ck you” to the 911 operator he “thought his phone was on mute”.
Personal responsibility doesn’t mean what Republicans think it means.
October 25th, 2008 at 10:49 amthe self-importance is humorous, but the stupidity is all over the place… his voice mail message, if the transcript is accurate is one example:
“i can’t take this message now because…”
no, you can take any message any time you want…
it’s the CALL you can’t take now… just sayin’…
October 25th, 2008 at 10:59 amDear Joe McCain,
Please keep talking. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Democrats and Rational Americans
October 25th, 2008 at 11:04 amMy my my, the McCain boys certainly feel entitled to their contempt.
October 25th, 2008 at 11:04 amHeaven forbid that Obama stand in the way of John getting into the White House, and for god’s sake let Joe get to Commie-ville!
October 25th, 2008 at 11:06 amIt’s got to be rough for Grampy when even his brother is distancing himself.
October 25th, 2008 at 12:04 pmHe should be cited for abuse of a first-responder and for misuse of the 911 emergency service.
October 25th, 2008 at 12:27 pmA mistaken 911 call is really not such a big deal. Not big enough to jump off the campaign. Unless you wanted to get off that sinking ship anyways.
October 25th, 2008 at 12:28 pmJoe the Idiot: What’s with all the traffic??
October 25th, 2008 at 12:41 pm911 Operator: I’m sorry sir. Sarah Palin’s personal shopping entourage heard about the new line of Christian Louboutin Appollonia Padded Ankle Boots at our local Neiman Marcus. They’re perfect for hunting, I’m told. Please be patient.
The wheels of the bus go round and round, as they fly off in every direction…
At this point I just hope people don’t vote for McCain out of pity.
October 25th, 2008 at 1:15 pmDid he call the operator a c*nt?
October 25th, 2008 at 1:18 pmHow quickly the Progs forget how good a brother Roger Clinton was.
October 25th, 2008 at 1:32 pmI don’t remember anyone claiming Roger Clinton an asset…
October 25th, 2008 at 1:55 pmJust evening out the brother bashing is all.
October 25th, 2008 at 2:08 pm“How dare you hold me up in traffic!!! Don’t you know who I am? I’m Joe F#@ckin’ McCain, dammit!!! Get out of my way!!”
Oh, please Joe, call 911 again, you’re a hoot!
October 25th, 2008 at 2:46 pmI wonder if McCain will be bringing up “Joe the a–hole” on the campaign trail?
October 25th, 2008 at 2:56 pmAnother Chris babbles:
How quickly the Progs forget how good a brother Roger Clinton was.
You must have problems keeping up with the news: Bill Clinton hasn’t been president for about 8 years now.
Also, would you care to point out who in this thread -or anywhere else in this blog, for that matter- has praised Roger Clinton? Or explain how he is relevant to this topic?
You are truly pathetic, even for a McCain supporter.
October 25th, 2008 at 4:52 pmLife’s gotta be tough for you when your own brother throws you under the bus.
October 25th, 2008 at 7:00 pmJust like the cold war when everyone who didn’t agree with the U.S. was either a communist or a communist sympathizer. toki This poor crazy guy spent half a decade being tortured because a bunch
of stupid politicians araç sorgulama were sure the NVA
was in bed with the Russians (minimal help) and/or the Chinese (ancient enemy of the vietnamese). ssk sorgulama You would think he would have learned from others’
