McCain adviser: Palin ‘is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone.’

palinboots.jpgThe Politico reports that tensions between the Palin and McCain camps are increasing in the waning days of the campaign. Palin reportedly “has decided increasingly to disregard the advice of the former Bush aides tasked to handle her,” blaming “her handlers for a botched rollout and a tarnished public image.” A McCain campaign source unloads on Palin in an interview with CNN:

“She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” said this McCain adviser, “she does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. Also she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: divas trust only unto themselves as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.

“I think she’d like to go more rogue,” a Republican source said of Palin.

  23. Gregor Samsa Says:

I don't know if this is already the subject of a thread, but here it is nonetheless:

Gov. Sarah Palin's signature accomplishment — a contract to build a 1,715-mile pipeline to bring natural gas from Alaska to the Lower 48 — emerged from a flawed bidding process that narrowed the field to a company with ties to her administration, an Associated Press investigation shows.
    [...]
And contrary to the ballyhoo, there's no guarantee the pipeline will ever be built; at a minimum, any project is years away, as TransCanada must first overcome major financial and regulatory hurdles.
In interviews and a review of records, the AP found:
    [...]
_Despite promises and legal guidance not to talk directly with potential bidders, Palin had meetings or phone calls with nearly every major candidate, including TransCanada.
    [...]
_Under a different set of rules four years earlier, TransCanada had offered to build the pipeline without a state subsidy; under Palin, the company could receive a maximum $500 million.
AP INVESTIGATION: Palin pipeline terms curbed bids

I realise a lot of this information was already available at ThinkProgress, but I find it interesting that the AP is fact-checking Palin now too.

  24. Bob Says:

Sheilded from the media; surrounded by hard core supporters; even the most idiotic things said by her are defended as real truthfulness (truthiness?); events are purely one-sided (no dissent): of course she has a false sence of power and has falsly justified being cocky or sassy. It sounds so familiar, maybe it should be known as bush complex.

  25. Tired of being lied to Says:

Sounds like she's gone all "mavericky" on the ol' man.

  33. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

Palin: Hubris personified. (We've also seen this written large throughout the Bush Administration.)

Hubris, sometimes spelled hybris (ancient Greek ?????), is a term used in modern English to indicate overweening pride, self-confidence, superciliousness, or arrogance, often resulting in fatal retribution. In ancient Greece, hubris referred to actions which, intentionally or not, shamed and humiliated the victim, and frequently the perpetrator as well. It was most evident in the public and private actions of the powerful and rich. The word was also used to describe actions of those who challenged the gods or their laws, especially in Greek tragedy, resulting in the protagonist's downfall.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubris

Palin is also a "diva," under the modern (non-singer) of the term. But she's much more dangerous than just a diva, since she's running for VP currently. This is NOT a woman who should be allowed to hold political power of any kind.

The term is often used with a negative connotation. This derives from the implication that a star who is a "diva" is arrogant, difficult to work with, high-maintenance, manipulative, fussy, highly strung, privileged and demanding. He or she does not believe the law and accepted rules of courtesy apply to him or her. Professional singers and actors often use this term to describe someone who desires the stage spotlight over others. The term "prima donna" has similarly entered common usage with exactly the same negative meaning, likewise the ballet equivalent prima ballerina.

as to donating them to "charity", that is a total waste unless they are auctioned off and proceeds donated...

but, more likely, she'll keep them somehow...

    just some thoughts...

  55. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

    Then there's this of course, which has largely been ignored by the MSM;

But stepping back, it's amazing this scandal is barely generating a whisper in political circles. A candidate for national office has been found to have violated ethics laws, recently, in a major abuse-of-power scandal. The Obama campaign isn't pressing the issue, reporters seem to find this irrelevant, and most voters probably have no idea that the scandal is ongoing. As far as I can tell, John McCain hasn't said a word about any of this, and reporters haven't even asked for his perspective on his running mate's

It's odd. If Joe Biden were recently found to have abused the powers of his office and lied about it, and was still under investigation as Election Day neared, I have a hunch it'd be a bigger deal.

The GOP is about to fracture into two parties. One can have their anti-choice poster girl, Bichress Sarah, and the other can look for someone who resembles the GOP back in the days when conservative meant something other than denying rights to those with whom you disagree. Ya know, that fiscal responsibility thingy.

The Democratic Party is swifty becoming the party of America. Call us elitists if you want, but our tent is far bigger than yours is, GOPers. And if all us hard working, family values, patriotic Americans are Democrats and elitists, that doesn't leave you with much to call your own.

I was a wee bit curious, too, so I talked to a colleague who was in the prep suite in St. Paul with Sarah, and it turns out Tracy was brought in exclusively to apply a spray-on tan to the future Veep. Yup, that’s what Tracy’s specialty is: According to her MySpace page, she runs a company called “tans n lashes by tracy” (that’s Tracy in the picture, and the spray-on tan shot is from her MySpace page, too). Apparently, Sarah had what’s affectionately called an “eskimo tan” when she showed up at the Convention. They needed to brighten her up, and even out her tan for all the new cleavage and leg-baring fashions. And given John’s history with melanoma, he insisted on a spray-on for Sarah. Thorp was paid $900 plus expenses [expenses greater than $300, plus air fare] to come into town for the job..........

Joe the Plumber would hit the ceiling if his wife spent $22,000 in 2 weeks on makeup.

  67. DallasNE Says:

I find it interesting that a McCain advisor would choose a clearly sexist word to describe Palin when her only qualification for being on the ticket in the first place is because she is a woman and McCain wanted to attract disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters. Why would this advisor choose "diva" over a term like "prima donna" to define Palin as "an extremely sensitive, vain, or undisciplined person". Oops, it looks like prima donna also describes the McCain advisor. No room for two peas in a pod with the McCain camp.

Any of her GOP mentors in Alaska could hae warned them that this would happen with this very ambitious woman. McCain should get a food taster if he is elected.

  69. RUCerious Says:

I didn't think you spelled diva with a mix of these four letters

    n c t u....

  70. Chocolate Jesus Says:

    >McCain should get a food taster if he is elected.

Palin wouldnt poison, its would be too easy to trace..McCain is kept alive by an array of medications to combat his numerouse health problems, all she would have to to do is start substituting his medication with placebos..

  71. Max-1 Says:

    .

    $150,000.00 makeover into a Diva...
    ... Priceless!

    .

  72. GL2814 Says:

My oh my, the wheels are coming off the bus! They really need to ship Caribou Barbie's cute little butt back to Alaska.

  73. Timus Says:

Those unaware of history are often amused to see it repeated.

    Do I have that right?

Anyway, long ago there was a veep twit who was laughed at and considered the fault not in himself but the underlings of the Chief who so mishandled him. Oh, were he able to come out from under this rock and shine on his own, what a mighty roar would be heard in the land!

Except - when Little Danny the lightweight was all set to go it alone ... none would follow. The laughter continued. He then found another excuse. I must resign my mission, he sniffed, because of funding. I don't have the money to continue.

Now, dig deeper, Little Danny Not-So-Canny. Just why is it you have no contributors? Can it be nobody wants to pay for a joke?

And now here comes such another!

  74. datadave Says:

Aw, shucks. Can't be true. She's such an innocent!

Really, don't be so sure she's going to disappear after Obama's victory. She's said a lot of dumb things but it's McCain's campaign. I have ?s about who insisted upon the make-up, the 'attack dog' style, the clothes? Was it Sarah? or was it the McCain's (probably Cindy about the clothes?_). So Ms. Palin might have a hell of a lot of justification for how she was handled.

    But.....

she didn't have to take the advice/orders did she?

She DID NOT BLINK! when the call came. Let's see what that means.

good bye, plane crash dummie and Caribou Barbie.

  75. Robt Says:

    To be restrained,
Those who ignore Palin's train of thought, judgement, ideas and the little general understanding of Gov't and the world that she has chose to show Americans is very alarming.
