White House on whether Stevens should resign: No comment.

In today’s White House press briefing, Dana Perino said the White House would “decline to comment” on the recent conviction of Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) and whether he should resign:

Q: Sen. McCain today said Sen. Stevens should resign. Does the President believe Sen. Stevens should resign?

PERINO: Well given that Sen. Stevens has said that he’s going to fight his conviction and that he’s going to appeal, and that is his right to do, since it’s going to be a matter of ongoing litigation, we’ll decline to comment for now.

Watch it:

After Stevens was indicted, Bush attended an event in Alaska alongside Stevens. “The United States military has had no better support and stronger friend than Sen. Ted Stevens. Thank you for coming, Senator,” Bush said in August.

So why wasn’t he handcuffed and put in jail to wait for
his sentencing? Oh yeah “rich white guy.”

Follow up question: If it was a senator with a ‘D’ after their name, would the answer be any different?

Better question: Does Bush plan on pardoning Senator Stevens?

After only eight years, the White House has learned to keep its piehole shut.

Not to worry. George Bush’s comment will be a full pardon along with a big thank-you-for-all-you’ve-done dinner and party and a good ol’ boy medal.

  7. Buckie Boy says:

Phuck Stevens, why is Bush and Cheney still in the White House, they should have been removed and in prison long ago.

First let me say that the president has told me that he has been confidently advised that senator stevens’ resignation would in no way adversely affect the profits of the largest corporations doing business with the United States. The White House wishes senator stevens the best of luck in these unfortunate circumstances.

The White House probably shouldn’t comment until after Sen. Stevens has passed away, and after all his living relatives have passed away, and the Stevens name itself has been retired from common usage. That’s the only way to be sure that the liberal media, or its descendants, will not use the White House statement for nefarious political purposes.

Well, then, I guess that means that as long as Stevens is going to “fight it”, then Bush won’t be stepping in to pardon him either. Yeah…right…

I expect after he pardons Stevens, Bush will award him the Congressional Medal of Freedom or whatever that medal is he gives to all loyal Republicans no matter how crooked they are.

No fooling. If it was good enough for Don Siegelman, then it should be good enough for Stevens.

Stevens resign? Stevens resign? Hell yeah, Stevens should resign and take most of the White House, starting at the top, with him.

We have lived in our country with crooks in charge. clean them all out and let’s take back our country!

come on, what about the republican mantra of “innocent until
all appeals have been exhausted”? that usually works when anyone from thier side gets in trouble..

  15. MapleStreet says:

If they’re going to follow their normal protocol and decline to comment while an appeal is in process

can I assume that they will decline to pardon while an appeal is in progress ?

  16. spyder says:

“We wouldn’t want to comment during an: (choose and circle the correct response) investigation, court proceeding, grand jury testimony, criminal indictment, trial, conviction, appeal, presidential pardon…”

If he doesn’t win the vote the vote come next Tuesday, it doesn’t matter. He’ll be going home (jail cell) anyways. http://straighttalkonmccain.blogspot.com/
