O’Reilly: Can we arrest Obama spokesman Bill Burton ‘for being mean’ to Megyn Kelly?

On Monday, Fox News host Megyn Kelly interviewed Bill Burton, a spokesman for Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). As she repeated the right-wing talking points alleging Obama has a “socialist” agenda, Burton criticized Fox’s constant coverage of the ridiculous claims. After Kelly described the interview to Bill O’Reilly last night, O’Reilly lept to her defense, wondering — slightly in jest — whether they could “arrest Burton and charge him with anything for being mean to Megyn.” Watch it:

In 2006, O’Reilly infamously threatened a caller into his radio show with “a little visit” from “Fox security” for having the audacity to utter Keith Olbermann’s name.

  1. stewarjt says:

Mean? Him? She was the one that needed a leash.

  2. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

Uh, no, he wasn’t mean to Kelly. I couldn’t watch more than three minutes of that interview. She was hostile to Bill Burton.

  3. Curlew says:

Why on earth does any entity, including TP, continue to post stories about the ridiculousness of the Fixed News Channel? Is it primarily to make us laugh? If so it may have value. If not, then its a huge waste of everyone’s time. Why not focus on things that really matter instead of giving space to the foolishness that is spewed out daily in the name of “news” from those jerks?

  4. misshusseinmolly says:

I realize that O’Reilly was probably kidding with his customary tastelessness, but I am truly amazed that he and the rest of the Fox crew seem to have a bizarre sense of entitlement — they can say whatever they want (even blatant lies), and nobody else can criticize them, question them, or rebut them. If they do, they should be shut down, arrested, or intimidated into submission.

Would somebody explain to me how this isn’t fascism? Trolls?

  5. raynman says:

Heaven forbid that anyone actually question the ‘truth’!

  6. misshusseinmolly says:

What in the world will Fox News do when they no longer have the government on their side once the Democrats are in power?

  7. A Patriot Acting says:

After Obama wins the Presidency maybe he can work with Congress to pass legislation that will close the loopholes that allow FOX/PRAVDA from spreading their neocon propaganda under the guise of “news”.

  8. WaltB says:

Hey, O’Rumbass just can’t get over that neo-Nazis like him will be out of power soon. He’ll go on and on for a few more months and then have to figure out if he needs to emigrate to Australia.

  9. SteaM says:

ahhhhh… Is the big-headed meanie mad that someone else is being mean to a woman and its not him?

  10. ahistoricality says:

I get most of my news from blogs and NPR, so this is an honest question: is there any other network besides Fox where the hosts/journalists routinely talk over or shout at or attempt to shut up their guests/interviewees?

  11. RUCerious says:

He’s a legend in his own mind. All these Fauxians will watch their ratings tank as the next administration explains the cost of cleaning up the mess the reichwing has made our nation.

  12. Badmoodman says:

After Kelly described the interview to Bill O’Reilly

    – - Yeah, cuz O’Reilly isn’t interested in watching anyone else on his channel and has no clue how to use the YouGoogleTubesWeb.

  13. Shayne says:

I thought SHE needed a muzzle. She was doing a great imitation of that Florida woman who attacked Biden. I guess they figured out a way to get some extra press for themselves.

  14. stormkrow says:

Can we arrest O’Really for his hate rhetoric that has lead to hate crimes against humanity??
It’s going to be a bright sun shiny day when Obama wins the White House and FOX has to actually earn their press credentials.

  15. freeman says:

Perhaps lying to the AMerican public to get us into a war of choice inorder to control oil , resulting in the deaths of 1 1/2 million people (including Americans)could be seen as a punishable offence as well as treasonous ?
This I say and NOT in jest !

  16. Uncle Ho says:

When do we get to arrest Brillo for being a fascist pig?

  17. Joe Sixpack says:

BillO is such a slug. Wouldn’t it be great to see BillO shoot his mouth off while face to face with Burton, and watch Burton get “mean” and kick BillO’s ass?

    I mean, that’s a fight I’d pay to see.

  18. Marie says:

Burton actually did a pretty good job in the face of the ignoramus Kelly.
As for Billo — as my grandma would say “jacasse!”

Fox is going to continue this slanderous reporting of the news as they see it for the next 4-8 years at least. They will find more bloviating Glenn Becks, Megyn Kellys and maybe even Sarah Palins to fill their air time with libelous remarks.
Just what we need more of in America — a TV channel devoted to racists, bigots, and blind hatred.

  19. Nevar says:

    I miss those days.

All the doors at FAUX must be shaped like T’s in order for these people to get their big ass heads through the door. You can also bet they have a ‘get your composure’ room for the frigging WATB’s.

  22. Angstone says:

From that look in BillO’s eye, it looks like Megyn is gonna be tangling with the business end of a falafel real soon…

  23. proud liberal says:

Can Billo take some of that 10 million a year and buy some common sense? What a PRICK!

  24. mk3872 says:

Fox News has completely gone off the deep-end now into the tank for McCain and the GOP. Gotta wonder what is in it for them any longer.

BTW, can anyone tell if this is an actual news agency home page (FOX) or a Drudge aggregator? You gotta be kidding …

It is an odd choice of words, now that I think about it. I mean, a “headquarters” in a military or business sense is the command center – the place from which troops are commanded and directives are issued.

So wouldn’t an “Election Headquarters” be the place where the conduct and outcome of the election is decided, rather than the place where it’s merely reported on?

Well, let’s see — over at MSNBC, I can honestly say I can’t imagine Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, or Chris Matthews doing such a thing. And I’ve never heard of Larry King operating that way over on CNN (can’t say anything about Glenn Beck — I’ve never watched him, and I understand he’s going over to Fox anyway).

Hmmm…not even over at Comedy Central does this behavior exist. Stephen Colbert is a PARODY of Bill O’Reilly and he doesn’t even do it.

  33. Keith H. says:

Good point, after the last two it must be easy for them to feel as if they’re in control at their command center.

Not gonna happen. Fox is going to turn from the pro-administration cheerleader it is now back to the anti-administration hate machine it was during the Clinton years.

Arrest? Maybe Bildo the Falafel Stalker Pervert should have been the one arrested for his actions….but he can just pay off his victim, now can’t he.

Rush Limbaugh wouldn’t have a career without Bill Clinton, and Fox News certainly used Clinton to springboard their operation. Once Obama is in office, you can count on 100% 24/7 anti-Obama programming. And the same red-meat audience they have now will continue to watch because they’re so desperate for affirmation.

  37. hotelal says:

Why would anyone watch Fox anyway ?? Billo is just that.. a clown.Whats 100% worse in Hannity… talking about a non stop obama bashing….

  38. Crusty Old Bastard says:

O’Liely’s problem is that he has to think with his little head because his big head is firmly implanted in a dark hole. Who really cares or has time to waste on such drivel? I would rather watch paint dry or grass grow, in Arizona even, than stoop (that metaphor isn’t strong enough; it probably should be dig or drill) to his level.

  40. Shayne says:

I’ve seen Stephen Colbert shout over his guests but usually the guest is laughing.

Bildo was one Letterman Monday night and he’s such a coward he was hyperventilating. Letterman even asked him if he was alright. Loser.

  41. The Shadow says:

Hey Oriely can we arrest you for being a pervert? Yes we can you low life pig. You are the one who was sued for sexual harrassment, you jerk. Why don’t those stupid womena t Fox talk about that? Because they are nothing more than a bunch of propaganda morons like you. Bill you are a total loser who shouldn’t have a job because of your sexual harrassment of that producer who used to work for you. Fox noise should have fire you for being a pervert.

  42. The Shadow says:

By the way Kelly is a pinhead and I’d act mean to her too if she asked stupid questions of me.

  46. A Patriot Acting says:

Sarah Palin, Megyn Kelly, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Michelle Bachmann, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Barbara West.

A gaggle of blathering nabobs spewing misinformation and lies across the networks. These women who are the female face/voice of the GOP and are a main reason why a large majority of women in this nation tend to vote Democrat. They care only about amassing more money and power for themselves and have NO concern for the plight of the average working women and the issues that matter most to them.

  47. Jackie says:

O’Reilly is fighting for his job so he’ll say anything now. Glen Beck the drug/drunk is taking over the idiot spot on Fox. Now O’Reilly has to now to his insane act to get attention.

  48. LibertyLover says:

How sexist of Billo. It seemed to me that Megyn Kelly was perfectly capable of handling herself. Billo’s side of the aisle will never accept women as fully human beings until an exchange like this is passed by without comment.

  49. Xisithrus says:

This socialist talking point wont gather any weight because it was Bush, Paulson and Bernanke [Republicans all] that wanted the socialist bailout.

  50. Gimme a Break says:

Those two are giving the Irish a bad name.

  51. Xisithrus says:

As for O’Reilly, I ignore him.

  52. SWBob says:

Billo represents the model for many repubs. They will not tolerate any differing opinion and view it as their obligation to squash anyone who holds such an opinion. Their world created GWB and allowed an unintelligent fool to become President because they are willing to attack via the press and other media anyone who disagrees with them. Arresting someone for possessing a differing point of view is only the next step.

  53. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

What’s with these female “reporters” who get creamed by the Obama campaign then running right to O’Reilly? Can’t they stand up for themselves. Do they need Big Daddy O’Reilly to stand up for them? I am so glad to finally see Democrats stand up to Faux Noise and all other RNC Talking Points reporters. When they stand up to these faux reporters, they show the world how biased and silly those so-called “reporters” are.

  54. stewarjt says:

What in the world will Fox News do when they no longer have the government on their side once the Democrats are in power?

The same as they did to President Clinton. They will deluge their audience with fake scandals and outrage over every action President Obama takes.

  55. DaTruth says:

‘Arrest and charge him with ANYTHING for being mean’ those words are an indication of a society teetering on the edge of fascism. Just make something up, ANYTHING, and have the guy arrested. There it is folks, a democracy gone stale and starting to rot footsteps away from a closed fascist state!

A lot of the same stuff happens on NPR, albeit with more subtlety. Many of NPR’s “objective” hosts and commentators seem to be shilling for McCain. Check out this site.

  59. cage free brown says:

Can we just make FOX a police state where anybody who doesn’t agree that they are “Fair” is made to sit in a stockade and allow FOX hosts and viewers to throw their garbage at them?
