Where are Palin’s medical records?

By Ali Frick on Oct 29th, 2008 at 4:49 pm

Where are Palin’s medical records?

In an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams last week, Palin said — apparently to the surprise of her staff — that she would release her full medical records soon. On Sunday, the campaign told ABC News the release would happen “early this week.” Noting that “today is Wednesday,” ABC is wondering, “What’s the hold up?

ABC News has asked every day this week about the status of the release of information and received no updates from the campaign. It is unclear what is holding things up. [...]

Aides suggested privately that there was nothing to hide in the records, but that it was simply taking a while to call doctors and round up the appropriate information to release.

But an entire week?

Ignoring the call of journalists and thousands of physicians, McCain has also refused to release his full medical records.

They are trying to redact what the need to.

  2. Art says:

What’s the problem? They said there’s nothing to hide.

  3. 49erDem says:

Andrew Sullivan points out that there is no record of a Trig Palin being born at the hospital we were told did the birthing.

Why would a healthy 44-year old woman hesitate to allow her medical records to be made public?

  4. AverageTodd says:

GOTCHA! And why did she say, “I’m healthy, I’m happy, I’ve had five kids — that’s going to be in the medical records.”

  5. Fred says:

They spent a week purging that information……you know why.

  6. Zooey says:

    Palin’s a liar — surprise!!!

  7. freeman says:

This confirms what most of us already know ….these people are sick !

  8. WaltB says:

They’ve both got things to hide? This is so Republican!

  9. Tired of being lied to says:

but that it was simply taking a while to call doctors and round up the appropriate information to release.

And, they haven’t started calling them yet.

    That’s pretty mavericky, isn’t it?

    I’ll bet she’s a Nexus 6.

  11. Joe Sixpack says:

The fact that McCain refuses to release his medical records should be of concern to everyone. I mean, that guy acts like he’s had a stroke or something, the way he wanders round on stage and seems disorientated half the time.

I’m serious. That guy has a brain-fart and I think the media is afraid to question it. I mean, even Fox News’s Brit Hume mentioned McCain “having a senior moment” but no one wants to demand to see his medical records.

  13. raynman says:

So, the Right Wing continues to hammer the false meme that Obama doesn’t have a birth certificate… but at the same time, there’s not a stink about both the Republican VP AND Presidential Candidates not releasing their medical records?

  14. lurker says:

Well we already know that she has “republican cooties.”

  15. SP Biloxi says:

Palin has put herself in the pickle. And she will be bringing back the suspicion from the public to whether her son Trig is hers. By using the stall tactic with the media on getting her medical records, it will just grow much greater talks of the Sarah-Trig-Bristol triangle rumors.

  16. Nevar says:

My medical records? Well, gosh, a moose ate them doncha know!

  17. Bob says:

Has anyone seen her birth certificate? Maybe she’s not qualified to be the least qualified VP pick ever.

  18. misshusseinmolly says:

I’m sure Sarah figures she can stall until next Tuesday, after which her medical history will be irrelevant.

It still doesn’t make sense why, unless she really DOES have something to hide regarding Trig. Or maybe she just wants to keep her va-jay-jay business private (yeast infection? STD?).

Personally, I think we Americans have a right to know the health of anyone wanting to be considered for the POTUS (or VPOTUS) job. But I know I wouldn’t want my gynie exams and my mammograms blasted all over the papers when they have never shown any condition serious enough to jeopardize my overall health (it’s not that I have anything to hide — it’s just the ick factor).

I wish there could be some sort of compromise — disclose all surgical procedures, cardiovascular disorders, cancers, diabetes, etc. etc. but exempt minor temporary conditions that were treated and have not impacted general health. Unfortunately, there’s really no way to do that and still be able to trust the results.

He said there was no record at the hospital. The issue may be baby Trig’s real parentage. While the hospital may not have the baby’s birth registered (for privacy reasons?) the Dept. of Vital Statistics in Alaska certainly does. Birth records generally also show the hospital a child is born in as well as the name of the mother and father. Those records can be obtained by several services (not free) to provide them; otherwise only the parents or individual can get it.

  20. Buckie Boy says:

No show….maybe because Trig isn’t hers….Trig is her daughters…and medical records will show that she was not preggers….but of course now they have had time to threaten her doctors so that they will forge the documents.

And why was her house (2002) build at the same time as the sports statium, Todd said that he and some “friends” built it in 2 months….could those friends have been the same construction company who built the statium, and TED STEVENS house….oh my, it was….where are the reciepts for the building materials for their house….oh, they don’t have any….thiefs, liars, corrupt scum bags.

  21. impeachcheneythenbush says:

Oops — somehow my first message got posted after the second one!

  22. tom says:

If we can’t get Failin’ Palin’s medical records, let’s go after Bristol’s. After all, that’s where the prenatal visit and delivery records regarding Trig will be found.

I wonder what Dick Cheney isn’t hiding in his man-sized safe.

  24. Jackie says:

Sarah can’t release her medical records because the truth would show she didn’t have a child in 2007. Now the excuse of the doctors not having time to get he records is lam as everyone’s medical history is on computer and it only needs to be printed. This is another example of how well Sarah lies with a smile and a wink.

Bingo. And she’s off the hook because it’s “not her fault” if the process takes too long. “Oooh, I told ‘em to get ‘er done!”

  27. dumbstruck says:

Her “camp” will blame the delay on McCain’s “camp.”

  28. pete says:

My guess is that the records are being doctored, no pun intended, to show that Bible Spice’s personal healer is God. Or Jesus. Or the witchdoctor.

  29. shoeless says:

Her camp will blame the campaign. The campaign will say she is going rogue. Then John McCain will disassociate himself from both the Palin camp and the McCain campaign.

  30. LibertyLover says:

Stalling tactics… the writing is on the wall. Since it looks like Obama is gonna win ( please, bob, make it so… ) I’m betting that she’s betting it will be forgotten about and she won’t have to.

  31. Patty says:

While it may be that the records would reflect that something major is askew, it could be a cute little ploy to get the media and public guessing, assuming, and predicting (along with name-smearing), and then the reports will contain nothing but run-o’-the-mill data (with or without doctors’/hospital’s helpful tweaking).

Can’t tell if I’m making sense here: In short, my guess is that the records will reveal nothing out of the ordinary; then the Republicans can blast everyone who expressed an untoward thought.

  32. 49erDem says:

Patty, according to news accounts in Arizona, the Governor’s water broke, she then gave a one-hour speech and then boarded a 13-hour plane ride back to Alaska to have her baby. Have you ever known of a woman who didn’t immediately prepare for birth when her water broke? I’m just sayin…

  33. pbg says:

Sarah “The moose ate my homework” Palin?

  34. greggp says:

There may be some other juicy tidbits in those records, say for example: Track was not her first child; she had a D&C at some time in the past; she has been treated for an STD; or she has received electroshock therepay. The possibilities are endless.

  35. LibertyLover says:

    49erDem Says:@ 34

    Especially, her 5th baby?

  36. MrSquirrel says:

Pretty fishy story about proceeding to give a speech and then high-tailin’ it back to Wasilla to give birth, after her water broke while in Texas. Plus all the weirdness about almost nobody knowing she was pregnant.

And yet, that would be one heck of a lie to be living, and to have pulled off for this long. And to presumably have to keep secret indefinitely.

Pure speculation… but if the dreaded “a” word is somewhere in there, she would certainly not want her base to find that out. Unlikely as that may seem.

  37. Patty says:

    49erDem @ 6:52 p.m.:

I agree completely with you. I’ve wondered over the past couple of months about different possibilities, too — although we’ve learned during this same time that the lovely governor’s judgment is not always what we might expect from someone educated by so many colleges.

Remember that the eldest son spent at least part of his last year of high school in another state?

That whole “water broke” story seemed unbelievable to me — especially with her fifth child; you just don’t waste time at that point . . . “You don’t blink.”

    Wonder if we’ll ever know.

  38. straighttalkonmccain says:

I don’t exactly believe that candidates shoudl release their public records. I don’t see why we the public need to know. Having said that though, if she said she was going to release them, then she should. http://straighttalkonmccain.blogspot.com/

  39. A Patriot Acting says:

Who knows what Palin has to hide in her medical records? Abortion? Incestual rape (Alaska is the US leader on that front)? NOT being pregnant or having given birth to the latest Palin? We may never know. Just as we may never know the full contents of McCain’s records. The Vanity Fair story about a possible fatal car accident in 1964 involving McCain that has been covered up by the Navy may be the reason for McCain’s secrecy. He was taken to the hospital after the crash along with another party and the records have been kept hidden. Was he drunk? Was he reponsible for vehicular homicide? We may never know. This ticket loves to talk about transparency but they’ve been as transparent as 12 inches of concrete.

  40. madmax says:

    She’s a MAN, baby!

  41. jonathanw says:

Are there any records of medical attention given to her in the long 8 hours flight from Texas to Alaska after her water broke? She is worried that people would ask why are details about Trig’s birth missing in them.

  42. Hardy Haberman says:

As others have conjectured, I suspect it’s because Trig is not her child but her daughter’s. All photos of Palin prior to the birth sure don’t look like a pregnant woman to me.
