McCain forgets that Joe the Plumber isn’t at his rally: ‘Where is Joe?’

At a rally today in Ohio, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) accused Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) of wanting to “spread the wealth.” McCain then summoned Joe the Plumber, who wasn’t even in the audience:

McCAIN: That’s only because Joe the Plumber asked [Obama] the right questions right here in Ohio. … Joe’s with us today. Joe, where are you? Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today? Joe, I thought you were here today.

[CROSSTALK]

McCAIN: All right, well you’re all Joe the Plumbers, so all of you stand up!

Watch it:

Update Joe Sudbay writes: "Maybe Joe was meeting with his PR team trying to get his country music deal. No matter, even Joe the Plumber has gotten what he can out of John McCain."
Update McCain staffers tell ABC News that it was "a simple mix up" and Joe "will join the campaign at a Thursday evening event."
Update Dana Bash updates:
McCain aides called it a “miscommunication,” but once I got on the bus I called Wurzelbacher myself and asked him what really happened. He told me that he had hoped to come to the morning rally, but that no one from McCain’s campaign ever called him back to confirm, Bigger ooops.

What I find interesting is that tax cuts make a small difference in my long-term outlook, while market growth and inflation have a huge impact on my nest egg. The public attention given to tax breaks makes no sense to me. I’m voting for the candidate who will grow the U.S. economy and keep inflation down.

I’d just like to make a point about so-called elitism. Liberals are supposed to be effete, gourmet-eating, late-sipping idiots who are out of touch with “real” Americans. Yet, it is John McCain (multi millionaire, longtime Senator) who is happy to reduce us all to what our quaint working class occupation is. “Joe the plumber”, “Bill the rancher”, “Bob the mechanic”….whatever. Where supposed to have good, happy, “salt of the earth”, American thoughts when considering us, the working classes. It’s all just such bullshit. It’s the same thing when Palin says “we grow good people in small towns…” This is the kind of shit that we’ve gotten for the last eight years so it’s no surprise that we’re just so used to it. If that’s not elite, condescending and pandering, then I don’t know what is.

Eight years of GOP corruption is enough. Pink slips are going out to GOP loons on January 20th. What makes you think a dem majority will be hiring more of them? There’s no chance you’re going to work for our government.

    Bam_Bam Says:

The era of incompetence in government is over. You will be denied a job with the government and it won’t be based on the color of your skin anymore. It will be because you lack the basic critical thinking skills to be involved.

You kinda remind me of ol brownie. Where is he these days?

    Leftside Annie Says:

So, Bam_Bi, tell me – would you let a senile old man perform brain surgery on you (that, of course, posits that you *have* a brain)…?

Would you let some kid right out of med school do the most complicated brain surgery in medical history? When you ask him what experience does he have with this type of surgery he says. “I have never done this type of work before but I have a mentor that hates this profession with a passion. And a close friend that I no longer associate with that’s in this line of work who has killed a couple of patients for the betterment of the field. They have taught me everything I know so just trust me.”

    Bam_Bam Says:

Just to point out how ignorant you obviously are.

Stock market under a democrat(Clinton) went from 3k to 11k

stock market under bush went from 11k to 8k

So seriously, when do you think a smart time to invest in the stock market would be?

ps. I don’t really believe that you own any stocks or a company.

  91. McWars says:

    Shayne Says:
McCain’s entire economic plan hinges on small business owners and yet he couldn’t find an actual small business owner. That’s because anybody who actually has a small business that hires other people knows that McCain’s premise is crap.

Thank you Shayne for the perspectives you provide as an actual small business owner. Too bad the trolls are incapable of processing any rational thought.

  93. Fred says:

No, that’s what happened in 2000. The patient is in critical condition. We don’t want his apprentice to finish the job.

  94. Shayne says:

Thanks McWars. Bambi is going to close his small business and go work for the government. Do you think he’ll he’ll have a big sale on all that Tupperware now?

  96. Shayne says:

Worse than an agent Joe the Plumber got a publicist. As Olbermann said yesterday he doesn’t have a publicist. Most performers don’t or hire one temporarily when they have a new movie out. Publicists don’t work on commission they charge a fee. Joe is quite the business man.

Once this nonsense is over, I’m going to love reading in Howie Kurtz’s column, or somewhere, just how “Joe” was planted by the GOP. If there ever was a plant, it’s this guy.

Of course Sam Not The Plumber is a GOP plant. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that. It is so sad that the “liberal biased” news media will wait until after the election to investigate this obvious ruse. They wouldn’t want to affect the election and upset the dumbass Republican base with the truth before Nov. 4.

    a huge rally:

“A local school district official confirmed after the event that of the 6,000 people estimated by the fire marshal to be in attendance this morning, more than 4,000 were bused in from schools in the area. The entire 2,500-student Defiance School District was in attendance, the official said, in addition to at least three other schools from neighboring districts, one of which sent 14 buses.”

What is it with McCain doing all these appearances at public junior and high schools? It’s distasteful, if not unethical, if not illegal.
He has a captive audience, 2,500 school children and staff who may or may not have a choice to attend.
To be pandering to underage and under voting age citizens in this manner smacks of pure despotism.

How is it legal for a school district to use their entire student body as a political prop for the Republican party.

If I run for office, how do I get the same kind of support from the school district. However, I would like not only Defiance ISD, but the Columbus ISD and all intervening school districts.

Please let me know ASAP because I may want to run for president, too.

This just does not pass the smell test.

  123. justsayin says:

I’m surprised McCain remembered his name.
{I also think Joe the plumber is the PERFECT rep. for “ordinary Americans”, he wants to own his own business, but there’s no way in hell he ever can, he owes back taxes (damn there’s a lot of people out there with that problem, really), he’s kind of a liar, or at least “stretched the truth”, I mean how is NOT the great example of American?)

  125. rizingstarz says:

Enough is enough! I have had it with this fraud “Joe the Plumber” Your campaign has chosen not to respond to this bogus “Every Guy” but I can’t let this go on. I have been a repeated victim of the “Special Interest or Do nothing” Republicans and John McCain’s failed Veteran policies since 1993 and a victim of the Bush/McCain Economic policies since 2003.

My name is Charles Stanley Marion; I am a 53 year old African American disabled Veteran and yes I am a LICENSED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, PLUMBING AND CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR, and I already own my company:
    Rizing Starz Plumbing and Construction
California State Contractors License # 773326

I also created a program that would generate nearly $50 Billion in State revenue and create a job for every California veteran, while California struggles with a nearly $20 Billion deficit, but I can’t even 5 minutes with Governor Schwarzenegger yet this jackass “Joe the Plumber” is on every news channel.

So the next time you or one of your staff happen to run into McCain’s bogus plumber tell them to call me, I have a few questions for them.

The government does this all the time. They just did it when they took TAX DOLLARS and gave them to the financial bigwigs instead of letting them fail. The government redistributes income UPWARD all the time and you buttkissers to power LOVE it when that happens but just HATE it if anyone in need is actually helped. You Ebeneezer Scrooge loving weasels are dinosaurs.
