Even Texas doesn’t like President Bush anymore.

Though President Bush was once “Texas’ favorite son,” the Lone Star State has now joined “the rest of the nation in registering sharp disapproval of his job performance as the nation’s chief executive.” In a new survey by the University of Texas, only 34 percent of Texans said that they “approved of Bush’s handling of the presidency, with just under 10 percent approving ’strongly.’” Fifty-five percent said they disapproved of Bush’s performance, including 38.7 percent strongly disapproving.

Even a Texan better not mess with Texas.

  2. paleolib says:

Sux to be you Texas. You get him back in 2 1/2 months whether you want him or not. If you don’t want him might want to send him hunting with Cheney.

  3. misshusseinmolly says:

And yet, they plan to vote for McBush. Go figure.

  4. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Wonder what Botch’s popularity rating is in Paraguay?

  5. Dumb_Hussein_Fox says:

Though President Bush was once “Texas’ favorite son”

So Texas’ favorite son is an adopted New England plutocrat? Whoda thunkit.

  6. ken melvin says:

Bush epitomized everything that Texans hold dear.

  7. swilliams41 says:

TEXAS-A place where so many regular folk want so bad to give rich folk a leg up, or a presidency, as long as they promise not to give anythang to them ‘OTHER’ folk. Got to love my state and all the dumbasses that reside here. oh yes, 1 of 4 here still think Obama is a Muslim. 2 of that 4 think Muslim is muslin and you find it in sheets. sheets they wear no doubt…..another story for another time.

  8. Arctic Ghetto says:

I hope Texas likes pirates because Bush and crew are going to steal everything down to the last acorn before they sail off.

  9. Hardy Haberman says:

Back when the “shrub” was elected as a Texan, I was delighted. He wouldn’t be our governor anymore! Bush is an embarrassment to our state and his legacy will take many years to wash off us Texans. Him and his fake Texas accent need to move back to Connecticut where he is really from. Then again I hear Paraguay is lovely in the Winter!

  10. Zooey says:

    Welcome to our reality, Texas.

  11. NOLIESPLEASE says:

Hardest part about life….having to live with idiots who still think GW did a good job.

What would the world be like if the other third were educated??? hmmm

  12. BurningFeet says:

Don’t like him when? Now? How about this Texan never liking him ever.

  13. Doc Rock says:

    They’re a little slow–maybe it’s the summer heat?

  14. ThereIsNoSanctuary says:

What are those 10% who “strongly” approval of his performance smoking? Did they bring enough for everyone?

  15. marcg says:

Does this include the 23% of Texan idiots who believe Barack Obama is a Muslim? Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

  16. galmud says:

Are these the same 1/3 of Texans still thinking Obama is a Muslim?

  17. Joe Sixpack says:

I guess Texas finally figured out that Junior really was a cheerleader for Yale instead of a student cowboy from the University of Texas.

  18. Keith H. says:

They better watch out, bad mouthin’ the rich little brat.
He’s liable get his warmonger friends to buy the whole state and kick everybody out.

  19. galmud says:

Not only are Bush and Cheney leaving a foul lingering stench on the entire Republican party for years to come. Imagine the utter uselessness of the 43rd President to Republicans the coming years. In contrast to the 42nd to Democrats. Clinton and Gore ar both very popular, Clinton campaigning full speed for Democrats all over the country

  20. nofltwlt says:

Well, that’s it, there is no place left for Dubya to go. He must roam the earth for eternity looking for some one/place that loves him – good luck with that.

  21. whosbarmynow says:

Bush is a native of Connecticut. Fake as all get out.

  22. ralph the wonder llama says:

Given the lasting black eye Dumbya has given to the state, I’d have thought texans would be even more pissed at him than the rest of Americans are.

  23. stormkrow says:

I’m a Texan born and bred; and we in Texas do not bestow that right on just anyone. In order to be a Texan you must have been born here, period; Bush is a Yankee fool playing to the bible belt which there are plenty of here.
I stood in line for 2 hours to vote this week along with my fellow Obama supporters. I think America will be quite surprised at the Obama numbers from the large cities here in Texas. I even think Obama may win DFW, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso. Austin is a given; it’s just the rural areas that will be the question.

  24. dbadass says:

A whole bunch of us in a little town in ME don’t like him either…

  25. AustinMike says:

stormkrow Says: “Austin is a given”

Yep, Austin, a blue oasis in a red state.

Only place in Texas worth living in.

  27. SP Biloxi says:

And this does help McCain since he is running the same policies as the clown President. Bush will go down in flames as the man without a country.

  28. zorbear says:

Life has always been hard here in Texas. So hard, in fact, that we don’t have enough energy left at the end of the day to waste any thinking. That’s why we always let others do our thinking for us – preacher, politician, neighborhood gossip – it don’t matter who, as long as they don’t have much in the way of book-learnin’. If you doubt that, look up the grades of our favorite son, the Shrub!

  29. ElBruce says:

Yeah, but how does that compare to the rest of the nation?

  30. konchster says:

Well it turns out those 3 dumb blondes from Dallas knew a hell of a lot more than a lot of Texans DIXIE CHICKS RULE !!!!!!!

  31. ohplease says:

Bush is not from Texas!!! He was born and educated in New England!! His parents are Yankees too. I don’t know how many times this has to be said before people get it through their thick heads. Just because you move here and put on a cowboy hat doesn’t make you a Texan. It’s amazing to me that the same people calling everybody in Texas an idiot, can’t absorb this simple fact.
