Reagan chief of staff: McCain’s interview with Palin was easier than getting a job at McDonald’s.

Interviewed on MSNBC today, former Reagan chief of staff Ken Duberstein criticized Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for choosing Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate:

images.jpgI think it has very much undermined the whole question of John McCain’s judgment. You know what most Americans I think realized is that you don’t offer a job, let alone the vice presidency, to a person after one job interview. Even at McDonald’s, you’re interviewed three times before you get a job.

On whether Palin is ready to be president “in an emergency on day one,” Duberstein noted, “People have resoundedly said ‘don’t think so.’” Watch it:

Lawrence Eagleburger, secretary of state under President George H. W. Bush, said yesterday that Palin is not qualified.

So, does anyone here think that Sarah Palin could actually get hired on at McD’s?

  2. gummitch says:

She’s got executive experience, Annie. She could be a manager!

  3. misshusseinmolly says:

Anyone with intelligence higher than that of a head of lettuce can see this woman is WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY out of her league.

And they are starting to admit it.

    Uh, ok, Gum…

Note to self: do NOT eat at any McD’s in Alaska after 11/4/08.

  7. RUCerious says:

on the electoral-vote.com site this morning there’s a great blurb, if I might quote in full..

“A new NY Times/CBS poll shows that 59% of the voters feel that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be Vice President, let alone President. These people question McCain’s ability to pick qualified people for his administration. The ironic thing is that the choice of Palin was probably forced on him by Steve Schmidt. McCain barely knew her (he met her once for 15 minutes), whereas he has traveled extensively with his long-time good friend Joe Lieberman. The choice of Lieberman would have enhanced McCain’s maverick status, shown that he was willing to buck his own party (”Country first”) and given the ticket an experienced politician who most people feel could be President (as demonstrated by polling in 2000). Schmidt undoubtedly told McCain that the base wouldn’t accept him due to his pro-choice stance on abortion. The old McCain would have said: “Screw the base” to Schmidt, but McCain V2.0 did what he was told. If McCain loses, the conversation between McCain and Schmidt probably won’t be real friendly.”

    Sounds like McIIIrd got Roved…

Happy Halloween!, courtesy of the assclowns of the Republican party!

  9. paleolib says:

Palin + Fryolator = major workers comp claim.

Better restrict her to working the drive-thru. She does so well communicating with “Real Americans”.

  10. Perry logan says:

Keep in mind, this woman was hand-picked by the “conservative elite.”

  11. Badger says:

I see the Palin or Lieberman Dilemma as emblematic of the Fracture developing in the Republican Coalition.

Go with Lieberman, and the Right to Life Values voters would not show up with any enthusiasm at the polls.

Going with Palin has energized the Foot soldier Base, but alienated Independents and the Low Taxes /Strong Defense traditional Republicans.

I don’t think McCain could have won against the Tide of Anti-Bush, anti-Republican sentiment regardless of his VP Pick, but his choice has FRACTURED the coalition put together by Pres. Reagan 30 years ago.

  12. LividLib says:

sarah and ronald mcdonald would make a cute couple.

  13. RUCerious says:

The minimum wage employees at McDonalds have more integrity than ImPalin. How dare you insult them!

Did the “interview’ consist of a lapdance and a BJ?

  16. stewarjt says:

You got to give it to Duberstein. Good one!

Since when are “lucrative offers” tendered to janitors?

I was only interviewed once, before I was sent a lucrative offer letter. Mr. Duberstein, you are wrong.

I’m sure they were VERY impressed by your CIS degree from Oral EjacuRoberts. How lucrative was that McDonald’s gig, my dark toned friend??

It’s possible that Duberstein was talking about hiring managers for McDonald’s, not the burger flippers.

What are you doing working for McDonald’s? I thought you were out making money with your gold bullion.

Now she can put those props – er – children away until her next run for office. Those poor kids have been schlepped around like inanimate objects.

Were you being interviewed for VICE PRESIDENT? No? Go pour yourself a nice steaming hot cup of STFU

  22. paleolib says:

    RaptureRidiculous

Stop bragging. They give that ten cent an hour raise to everyone who survives the probationary employee period.

  23. wicodemo says:

oh come on guys…couldn’t it be possible that Palin made such a good impression she didn’t need another interview, you know?

  24. dbadass says:

    wicodemo:
Are you suggesting this was one of those kind of “interviews”?

  25. Gregor Samsa says:

With both her executive experience and her foreign policy experience, she could probably get a job at a McDonald’s in Moscow.

  26. Hemlock for Gadflies says:

Ya see how the McCain campaign beat Eagleburger with rubber truncheons and forced him to go on CNN and recant?

Video’s up at Talking Points Memo.

Bombin’ Johnnie’s a proven ol’ horn-dog, so the possibility that Palin was fellatin seems plausible…

  28. MapleStreet says:

I don’t know if McD’s uses foreign or domestic beef.

But assuming Palin gets hired by a burger chain that uses foreign beef, Palin could claim that as another point of foreign experience.

  29. questioneverything says:

One wonders what they threatened Eagleburger with to make him back down so obviously. Same old threats and lies. Blackmail. Hate. Take your hate and shove it–true Americans will vote for the best candidate. Figure it out or stay home.

  30. ElBruce says:

Total gaffe. You can so get a job at McDonald’s after one interview.
