McCain surrogate Joe the Plumber questions Obama’s loyalty to the U.S.

Recently, Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher has been hitting the campaign trail for and with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). Last week, he was sharply rebuked by Fox News’s Shep Smith for agreeing that a vote for Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is a vote for the “death to Israel.” Today, Fox’s Neil Cavuto was taken aback when Joe questioned Obama’s loyalty to the United States:

JOE: McCain has fought and bled for our country, and loves our country. There’s too many questions with Barack Obama and his loyalty to our country. And I question that greatly.

CAVUTO: Well, you’re not doubting that he’s a good American. Or you are?

JOE: Oh you know, his ideology is something that is completely different than what democracy stands for, so I had some question there. In my opinion.

  3. dbadass says:

Come on Sam Joe, you’re just milking this thing now. Have a little dignity dude. Do you really want to end up like the forgotten “where’s the beef” old lady or that pothead kid from the Dell commercials?

  4. misshusseinmolly says:

The McCain campaign appears to have embraced this guy as being representative of the “typical American” they are aiming for. But the guy’s an obvious LIV. He’s bad at math, he’s deluded himself into thinking that he could buy a business that will net him a quarter million dollars a year (the only thing keeping him from this dream is Obama’s plan to move the upper tax bracket up 3 points), he has bought into every paranoid idea fed to him by the wingnuts, and he’s an apparent idiot.

So why does the McCain campaign think that parading a moron as their spokesperson is a good idea? Do they think the moron vote is that large a segment?

  5. Darth Vulgar says:

That is all he has left dbadass.

  6. Greytdog says:

At least the “Where’s the Beef” lady could arrive on time to deliver her lines. . . the only thing Joe the Plumber is plumbing is his I wanna be a writer motif. . . ugh

  11. dbadass says:

With all respect sluggo I am prepared to put all of what little I have left on both of them disappearing into the woodwork. Ms Palin will hang in a bit longer but the novelty thing has already way left so she will ride just on the reality that the national party will have to give her some props for a little while. If she is smart she’ll try to cop a highly paid position within the party apparatus as community organizer

  12. fletc3her says:

I question Joe the Plumber’s intelligence.

  13. Chocolate Jesus says:

wow…the sheer stupidity of this is ludacris…

the guy would be taxed LESS under obamas plan? did they mention that? (i suppose the irony would be lost on a crowd who thinks we needed to invade iraq because he’d had those nasty WMD’s we sold him…)

oh wait, doesnt matter, this guy doesnt pay his taxes anyway!

could some decent person at the IRS please investigate joe the plumber, I have a strong feeling he’s guilty of tax evasion.

id love nothing more than, after the election, to see this fraud on tv in handcuffs.. also, isnt there some statute against plumbing without a liscense?

is the mcccain campaign deliberately trying to get the skinhead vote by having some spokesman who both looks AND sounds like one of them?

  21. straighttalkonmccain says:

I can’t believe Fox is really interviewing him. I mean, he was good for a soundbite, and McCain made his point, but now he’s talking as if he’s a policy expert. Come to think of it, in the McCain campaign, maybe he is. http://straighttalkonmccain.blogspot.com/

  22. dbschell says:

  23. Marie says:

Joe is a good fit for Sarah Palin — maybe the Palins can hook up with Joe in Alaska and secede from the union.
They so cavalierly challenge Obama’s patriotism and loyalty to the USA when it is people like him, who espouse McCarthyism of the 21st century, and people like the Palins who agree with him and appoint themselves as sole arbiters and judges of others’ loyalty – it is they who are un-American and subversive.

  24. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

Remind me again why this a$$holes opinion matters. He is a known liar and a tax evader and he questions Obama’s loyalty

  26. Xisithrus says:

Democracy is a form of government in which the supreme power is held completely by the people under a free electoral system. It is derived from the Greek ?????????? ([dimokratia] (help·info)), “popular government”[1] which was coined from ????? (d?mos), “people” and ?????? (kratos), “rule, strength”

Unfortunately Joe seems to think Democracy is one party rule and that our leader should be a unitary executive, a King with advisors which is actually anti-democratic.

Joe needs to spend his time reading while palling around with a guy who wants the peoples power.

    Mistake on thier part.

  34. stewarjt says:

“[H]is ideology is something that is completely different than what democracy stands for…”

    This is just gibberish.

    1. What is Sen. Obama’s ideology, “Joe?”

    3. How would an ignoramus like you, “Joe,” know any of the answers to the above?

    Zooey, what does that mean?
    November 2nd, 2008 at 8:23 pm

That means as part of the filing fee everyone pays when they get divorced, $10 goes to the County Battered Women’s fund (likely the shelter).

    That’s all it means.

  48. 99Luf Balloons says:

The Group of Perverts (GOP) says that Obama happened upon JOesam Wirlitzer while Obama walked down his street. Did Obama REALLY walk down SHREWSBURY ST?

    and what about this?

    >GEN 3/28/1997 RULE 18, INJUNCTION GRANTED
    > SEE JE. 005/513

Injunction granted? What do you think this might be? Possibly a restraining order? I agree Zo that the filings dont prove domestic abuse but I think the subject of this injuction is a possible red flag.. Arent divorce proceedings public? Is there any way someone can do a little more research to see exactly what this injunction is about?.. any Ohio lawyers know what a “Rule 18 injunction” is?

  59. Zooey says:

    Thanks, Fred. :-)

    CJ,

If it says “Cost Applied” in front of it, that’s part of the filing fee distribution, not part of the divorce case.

Regarding the “Injunction Granted,” who knows? I’m in Idaho, and usually an injunction is in regard to something like not allowing the parties to hide or sell assets. OH could be completely different.

It would be best to look at the divorce file. You’re right, it would be public, assuming it is closed. However, if there was a protection order, that would be sealed.

somethign stinks..keep digging folks.. i’ll bet anything the

In the docket history above, it looks like the injunction was granted on the same day as joe first got the summmons, which means the injunction was most likely obtained Ex Parte (i.e. without joe being allowed to appear on his own behalf)..which means it was most likely an emergency order, as usually only emergencey orders allow an ex parte hearing, since a hearing without one side present has a higher likelyhood of being intrinsictly unfair…

  84. Chocolate Jesus says:

oopps.. small correction above.. it looks like the injunction was granted BEFORE joe was served with the complaint, so its almost certain this injunction was an emergencey one..

  88. nellre says:

Joe the plumber… he’s one of us right? Oh wait, I make the typical American income of $x and he makes 5 times that!
And he’s saying it’s not the American way to tax him more than I get taxed. So he’s saying flat tax? Is McCain proposing a flat tax? That a minimum wage earner pays the same percentage as the CEOs making millions per year (I’m a capitalist, but when I of think these CEO salaries I think the fix is in)?
I’m thinkin’ he’s not talking about Obama’s tax plan when he question’s Obama’s patriotism. I think it’s racism, combined with bias triggered by Obama’s middle name. And “news” organizations like Fox have so many obscene dog whistles such as this…I am ashamed they are allowed to broadcast.

  89. katy says:

jesus… i dunno… maybe ought not exert so much energy on such…

i heard an interview with a relative… the ex still lives in michigan? or alaska?

joe has custody of his son, right?

heard another interview on ed schultz, joe’s “aunt” called in, she’s a truck driver… said joe was mostly harmless…

i’m not so sure about that… but it’s obvious the “fame” has gone to his head…

i mean, he had his best Carhart shirt on the other day…
after sleeping in, no-show at a mcpalin rally…

Why are we listening to a bald-headed bozo who’s not even registered to vote nor licensed to be a plumber?

    >DM20065458 WURZELBACHER SAMUEL J 2006 dissolution, with >domestic violence, dismissed

There you go, that explains the emergencey exparte injunction.
Almost certainly it was because of domestic violence.

Joe “The Wife Beating Plumber”….a perfect spokesman for McCain..

Hussien, thanks for digging up this link, Zoey, thanks for keeping the critique from being misdirected..

    KEEP DIGGING FOLKS!

  95. Chocolate Jesus says:

by the way, the “dismissed” merely means that the divorce was finally “resolved out of court” so to speak..it doesnt in any way mean that the allegations of domestic abuse his wife made were determined to be untrue..in fact, the fact that a judge granted his wifes ex parte injunction probably means he found her claims of physical abuse to have merit

    DR19970476 WURZELBACHER SAMUEL J 1997 divorce

wait..look at the dates… this creep was married TWICE! at least…. and wait…ok…wow..i was a little confused..

ok, so one of this wives got an emergency injunction against him, most likely a restraining order, and 9 years later ANOTHER of his wives made allegations of domestic abuse in the divorce proceeding…

whats the correct title for someone who beats thier multiple wives? “wives beater”?

Joe, could you please give our televiewing audience your opinion of Stephen Hawking’s latest description of black holes? Joe, Joe! Less Filling? Tastes Great? Boxers? or Briefs? Tell me Joe, what do you want to make sure is included in your hero sandwich? Just ham and cheese? A lot of ham and cheese. Ok Joe. A cuppa Joe. No Joebama! Can I call you Uncle Sam?

  102. Briseadh na Faire says:

Chocolate Jesus, you’re jumping to some wrong conclusions.

As Zooey explained above, the fees breakdown is statutory and has nothing to do with the divorce per se. In Ohio, a portion of all divorce filing fees goes to all those various government agencies. That’s all that means.

Next, an injunction at that stage of the proceedings looks more perfunctory than anything else. When one files for a divorce, there is an automatic injunction against the disposal of assets.

And, if you look at the title of the action, only one woman is named. It’s not two separate divorces. The court can maintain jurisdiction for years after a divorce, to see to it that assets, such as pensions, for example, are distributed according to the divorce decree.

Joe the Plumber is enough of a schmuck without having to jump to any conclusions based on an incomplete knowledge of the facts. I mean, look what happened when McCain put the B girl into the media spotlight. It turned out to be bogus. From the looks of it, Joe got a divorce, or, more appropriately, his wife filed for and got the divorce. I guess that makes him the perfect spokesperson for Republican Family Values, right?

  103. Gregor Samsa says:

Someone who refuses to pay taxes to their country is in no position to impugn anyone else’s patriotism.

Someone who claims to be what they aren’t is in no position to question anybody else’s integrity.

  104. MrSquirrel says:

I question Sam-Joe the Almost-Plumber’s qualification to have a public venue for his opinion on anything of import.

He seems easily disoriented. I think maybe he’s inhaled the vapors of one too many urinal cookie.

Heck, I’m not sure I’d trust his professional opinion on which side of the water closet to locate the flush handle for a left-hander. The complexity of the problem would exceed the limits of his cerebral capabilities.

  105. Michael Lafferty says:

This fool is Bo Dietl with no hair. And, he clearly knows about as much about his ‘area of expertise’ as that clown of a former New York City Police detective does about this issues he pontificates cluelessly about.

Why does FOX News elevate such characters—and caricatures—to the national stage?

  106. pete says:

Nixon’s “plumbers” were not really plumbers either but, that doesn’t mean Samjoe is a burglar. I think before one can jump to a conclusion of spousal abuse one would need, at least, a formal charge or a sworn statement from the ex. And even then it would be best to wait for a conviction before leveling such a serious charge. Let’s just hope that we never have to hear from Samjoe the unplumber after Tuesday.

I too have opinions but they are no more or less than any other person’s in the country who is not directly working in the government at some level. This “Joe the plumber” is not worth any of the time given to him. What are his qualifications? Same as mine or mine might be better since I am educated somewhat as an historian and have been elected a library trustee. That is still not a qualification for commentary let alone nationwide exposure.

  111. tarazan says:

Why is Joe the Plumber on Cuvato show anyway? What can be learned for this so called The Plumber?

Joe’s story does not add up starting with him being an invester to later attacking Obama over Israel’s survival, and now he has doubts about Obama’s loyalty….
Who is this guy that Fox and the McCain campaign giving him so much attention?

Did anybody check to see if Joe has 2 million dollars to buy a plumbing business?
Is he doing any plumbing lately?

He can’t be doing plumbing on Cuvato show and travelling with McCain and Sarah..

It is really sad that McCain made the plumber the core of his campaign. A plumber’s story that has no legs.

  113. Briseadh na Faire says:

So now (not)Joe (not)the Plumber is (not)an expert on democratic ideology?

(not)Joe, who owes back taxes, who is (not)going to buy a quarter-million dollar business ia now a spokesperson for the McCain campaign.

(not)Joe knows about as much about the issues as Sarah Palin, so I guess that makes him a perfect spokesperson for what a Palin/McCain, Presidency would amount to.

And we should be calling it like it is; it is not Joe the Plumber, it is Sam the Slacker.

A Confederate secessionist during the Civil War.
    A KKK terrorist during Reconstruction.

  117. McWars says:

The GOP is unable to draw up plans to restore wellness in this country so they draw up cartoon characters like “Joe the Plumber” to create the illusion of giving a damn about this country. I’m sick of the sloganeering. I’m sick of the gimmicks. I’m sick of Mr. Clean when he’s anything but. 6AM tomorrow I am casting my ballot for Obama/Biden, Mark Warner (Senate), and Bill Day (House).

In 48 hours the long last gasp of the GOP will finally result in their death as a major party. The next task will be to marginalize people of bad influence in this country (marginalize, because you can’t fix stupid) so they never again disturb progressives in their work to make this country shine.

The GOP has one brand of expertise, luring people to vote against their own interests out of fear.

TD, sorry for the late response. Your comment gave me further hope that my vote will be of value. You have the whole family going in to vote for progressive candidates, that collective action is a really good sign. I look forward to tallying the Virginia residents here at TP who’ve casted their ballots.

Maybe we can get JTP to explain what America is TO HIM…?
