Last week, Fox News host Megyn Kelly complained that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AZ) hadn’t done enough interviews on Fox. “She has yet to do any Fox daytime. She has not gone on this broadcast. She hasn’t gone on Fox and Friends. She hasn’t done Brit Hume’s show,” Kelly said. Days later, Kelly announced that Palin had finally granted her an interview to be aired today at 9am.
This morning, however, Kelly announced that Palin had backed out at the last minute, less than 24 hours before their scheduled 10-minute sit-down on Sunday:
Now on Friday, we promised you an interview with Gov. Sarah Palin. We did that because the McCain camp promised us, after weeks of negotiating, that the governor would sit down with me in Ohio on Sunday. On Saturday, less than 24 hours before the interview, the McCain camp canceled, saying that the the governor would not meet with us after all. They claimed that the governor suddenly did not have any time over the coming 72 hours to make good on her agreement of a 10-minute sit-down. We apologize for the McCain camp breaking its word. Our viewers certainly deserve better.
Watch it:
Palin has had more than enough time to sit for softball interviews. Just last week, she added to her “near-daily encounters with Fox’s Sean Hannity” and granted a fourth interview to him — who asked what it felt like to have “thousands and thousands of people await you out there” — and another with Greta van Susteren — who asked Todd Palin if his wife was “tough.”
Palin even had time this weekend for a seven-minute phone conversation with comedians posing as French president Nicholas Sarkozy. But when it comes to finding ten minutes to meet with someone who might be a tough interviewer — even on Fox News — like Kelly, Palin suddenly has no time left in her schedule.
Well, I’m surprised.
NOT.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 am“Our viewers certainly deserve better.”
So when is FOX going off the air?
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:18 amThere’s no way they cut her sorry ass loose for an interview, on any channel, the day before the election.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:19 amHigh drama for the low-lifes.
Ho Hum.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:20 amThe fact that McPalin lies, is that really considered news anymore?
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:20 amIs this really the time for the Mccain-Palin campaign to be pissing of fox news? Maybe Palin does not want to be forced to talk about anything but her talking points in the last few hours.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:22 amOh, and there is a typo, TP has Palin listed as (R-AZ)
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:25 amMaybe Palin will learn what it feels like when she finally has her own Fox day-time show.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:25 amPalin the footnote can go to hell for all I care.
Ibid.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 amWe apologize for the McCain camp breaking its word.
**Dries tears**
It’s heartbreaking when you are betrayed by the one you love.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 amWell she is running for veep dontcha know………..
Loser come tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 amJust like she lied about releasing her medical records before the election.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:28 amI never thought I would say anything positive about Fox News, but this is exactly the way the broadcast media need to respond to Palin (or ANY candidate who attempts to evade the media or jerk them around).
First, invite the candidate for an interview (try to do it without whining and kvetching).
Second, stand firm on the policies of the medium — for instance, if it’s policy to not release interview questions in advance, don’t make an exception for any candidate (even if the candidate is a dim bulb and needs all the help she can get).
Third, if the candidate bails on the interview (or demands concessions that violate the medium’s policies), then tell the viewers why they are not seeing the interview they were scheduled to see.
If ALL media stood firm on this, candidates would either quit trying to control the media or they’d lose out.
I’m sick of seeing people masquerading as journalists fawning all over the candidates and caving to their every whim. And I’m tired of seeing Palin given special handicaps just so she can compete.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:28 amIt will be interesting to see/hear the reactions of Alaskans when all of this is said and done.
Does anyone think that they will recall her as governor if they lose this thing?
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:28 amWhat hasn’t this broad lied about?
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:29 amPalin will have a lot of time on her hands in 48 hours. Wonder if anyone will care to interview her then.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:30 amWhat the Fox people should have done, and what Kelly should have pushed for if she had any courage would be to NOT show the live stump speech. Why should they if the McCain campaign broke a promise to them.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:31 amThis dips_t follows the same ol Washington Mantra:
1. Lie
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:31 am2. Obfuscate
3. Rinse and Repeat
Maybe Kelly can get Joe the Plumber for a sitdown. He’s looking for a few interviews to expand his 15 minutes of fame and willing to share his lengthy knowledge of both foreign and domestic affairs.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:33 amwhen it comes to finding ten minutes to meet with someone who might be a tough interviewer — even on Fox News — like Kelly
Don’t kid yourself, Bimbo Kelly would have rolled over if the interview had actually been conducted. She is just another airhead who fits the Murdoch mold — blond, passable looks and in the tank for the right-wing.
Believe me, Failin’ Palin did us all a favor! There is no need for another FoxSnooze circle jerk — Little Seanie Hannity has had the market covered on that during this entire election campaign.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:34 amBut when it comes to finding ten minutes to meet with someone who might be a tough interviewer — even on Fox News — like Kelly, Palin suddenly has no time left in her schedule.
___________________________________________________________
If Kelly would actually buck the Fox News line and challenge a McCain mouthpiece about McCain’s accusation that Obama would raise taxes on the middle class, she would surely not let Palin get away with claiming that Obama is a Marxist, that he’s a terrorist, and that the United States has more oil than Saudi Arabia.
The McCain people realize they can’t afford to allow Ms. Sarah to be asked even one question — not even by Fox News. Therefore, she must stay in wind-up doll mode for the balance of the campaign (which will be over soon, mercifully).
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:34 amMaybe Palin can be the new host of “American Idle” b/c it’s seems that’s where the state of American Politics is anyways…
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:35 amWould Palin’s health records include all of her pregnancies?
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:37 amWould Palin’s health records include all of her pregnancies?
Yes, any and all medical procedures relating to child bearing, you betcha!

Perhaps the Alaskan legislative committee that despite her denials found she had abused her power and/or the Alaska Personnel Board, which is running a parallel investigation?
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:44 amThis tool is awesome: “Your Money” — McCain vs. Obama.
Fascinating stuff. Compares your taxes, markets, inflation, college, and retirement under each candidate.

November 3rd, 2008 at 10:44 am“We apologize for the McCain camp breaking its word.”
Why is Fox apologizing for the McCain camp? I could understand apologizing that they don’t have the interview because the McCain camp decided to cancel it, but apologizing for them? Kinda suggests that Fox is the GOP’s PR arm. Wait, not suggests but confirms.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:44 amThe more I learn about this feculent fluff, the parevnu Palin, the more convinced I am in the absolute correctness of Naomi Wolf’s characterization of her as the Evita of the USer Rightarts…
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:45 amPalin: “The Fox interview with Megyn? I don’t see how I can, I don’t have a thing to wear, doncha know!”
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:45 amI know, why not send O’Reilly’s crack team of ambush toadies to force an interview: commando style!
C’mon Megyn, quit whining and grow a pair. And while you’re at it, get some integrity, switch to decaf and give journalism a shot instead of sensationalistic on-air bickering and talking over your interviews, not that you look stupid doing it or anything….

Right you are, misshm, again. This entire campaign, I’ve visualized Scarah as this mean little girl riding a bicycle w/ TRAINING WHEELS.

SO LET’S PROVE IT. VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So there. =)
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:48 amOT the mccain campaign is using Rev. Wright in commercials now in my red state.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:51 amThe headline has all the information on this we need. Let’s see:
Palin – Lies. Synonymous.
Palin – Blows. Ditto.
And the winner of not holding a single press conference in an election: Palin.
And the winner of not sitting for a single hardball interview: Palin.
Looks like regardless of the election results, Palin will win this years coveted “Loosest Republican Wh0re” award.
Bears repeating: Palin blows.
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:52 amI love this comment by the Fixed News talking head:
Yes and that is why they need to watch MSNBC.

Sure. Except Palin the GOP Vamp has sharp fangs….. OUCH!!!!!
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:55 amFOX: “We apologize for the McCain camp breaking its word.”
Is this a blanket appology ’cause I don’t think a large enough blanket exists to cover all of the times that the McCaign camp broke it’s word!
“Our viewers certainly deserve better.”
No, your viewers get exactly what they deserve, a ticket that can’t keep it’s word twice in one day. Their word carries as much respect as the words of Hannity, O’Reiley and the rest of FOX’s cabal of liars. FOX and it’s viewers back a candidate whose word means about as much as a bucket of warm p1ss on a hot day. AMERICANS DESERVE BETTER THAN FOX NEWS!

‘Ya know, the current wars in Iraq & Iran…’
The bimbo doesn’t even know where the 2 current wars are…is this someone American wants in the White House?
John! Look out! She’s going ROGUE on you!
November 3rd, 2008 at 10:57 amMcCains final campaign rally today, in Roswell.

Ooops – sorry for the long post, all. I accidentally pasted more than I’d meant to paste.
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:05 amJust last week, she added to her “near-daily encounters with Fox’s Sean Hannity” and granted a fourth interview to him …
sarah does know her audience… and sean would be part of that…
he THINKS he’s interviewing her, but she is playing HIM…
that’s how those kind of women are… they don’t get along with other women so well… too much competition…
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:06 amSo…The Blessed Sarah bails on 10 minute interview with you “after WEEKS of NEGOTIATION”???? With YOU?? With FOX??
Get a CLUE Megyn!!!
The empty air space that is Fox News is rivaled only by the space between your ears.

November 3rd, 2008 at 11:30 amDoes anyone else think that the photo of Pailin used in the Faux News video makes Sarah look like she’s a cornered rabid animal? She looks like she’s snarling!
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:30 amThis reminded me strongly of that poor old man who apologized for getting in the way of Dick Cheney’s shotgun…
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:38 am“She looks like she’s snarling!”
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:38 amPity the poor folks back home…
The FACT is this…
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:39 amI think you’ve all got it wrong; this is actually one of the first intelligent things the Palin camp has done. It wouldn’t have been just “ten minutes” for one thing, but would have absorbed hours of time and accomplished absolutely nothing. McPalin already owns the FoxNews votes, and she has nothing to gain by doing an interview where the only audience are the wingnuts.
If Palin could have arranged a softball interview on a real network, it would have been worth the effort to reach the 6% of “undecided” voters.
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:50 amAs usual, the one thing that gets Fox anchors to turn against Republicans is any hint that Republicans might be slighting Fox News.
November 3rd, 2008 at 11:55 amSo Megan pulls out her spurned cheerleader bullying for Democratic campaign staff, but pulls her punches when Republicans treat her like shit, offering nothing more than a half baked apology to her anonymous “viewers,” one that can actually be read as an apology that presumes to speak in behalf of the McCain campaign, an apology she’s not authorized to make.
I see the way it is.
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:12 pmI think that whichever candidate wins this election, global poverty needs to be one of the top issues on the agenda that he has. According to The Borgen Project:
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:16 pm$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.
$540 billion: Annual U.S. Defense Budget.
Obviously Palin is one of those types of women who have to be the most attractive looking one in the room or on stage. With McCain it’s no problem, with Megyn well…
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:22 pmOnce again McCain & Palin cuts and runs from the media.
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:23 pmThey also just blew off Governor Crist of Florida. Mc
Cain told a townhall group that it was “a Republican rat” who was responsible for allowing illegally registered voters, to vote. A direct slap to Christs’ doing the honorable thing by extending voting hours.
As I watch an onslaught of Hate ads here in Arizona, this election will also be remembered as the year this sad old man and his gold-digging sidekick threw away their honor for the sake of more gold.
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:30 pmThis would explain why I heard about the Palin/Sarkozy phone prank from my 70 year old aunt who said she saw it on Fox on Saturday night. Fox eats it’s wounded. Just like St. Paul AA.
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:32 pmOne more day for Steve Schmidt to hold the narrative together. His arms are so tired…
November 3rd, 2008 at 12:50 pmVOLUNTEER TODAY. IT ONLY TAKES A BIT OF YOUR TIME AND IT’S AS EASY AS PUTTING OUT DOOR HANGERS. THEY GIVE YOU A LIST OF WHERE TO GO. TAKE THE TIME, IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO NOT LET UP.
THAT SAID, I AM HEADING BACK OUT, JUST TAKING A SHORT BREAK IN MY OWN VOLUNTEERING. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL, LET’S SWEEP THESE PEOPLE OUT OF OFFICE TOMORROW!!!
November 3rd, 2008 at 2:01 pmWhy is it every time I hear about Megyn Kelly she’s whining about FOX being mistreated? You are not the news.
November 3rd, 2008 at 2:11 pmWell, she’ll have 4 years to get her medical records “doctored up” by 2012 if she’s so inclined don’cha know.
November 3rd, 2008 at 2:34 pmMegyn, please, you’ve got time to fill, call up Bill Burton. I’m sure he’ll stop by and let you know which way the wind is blowing.
November 3rd, 2008 at 3:26 pmWhy is Sarah Palin refusing to release her medical records?
Did she release any information about her medical history when running for the Alaskan governorship? For Wasilla mayor? Did anyone in Alaska ever try to get her to release her medical records?
Something’s fishy.
What if Sarah Palin is refusing to release her medical records because she got an ABORTION years ago during the time when she was competing in Alaskan beauty pageants? And the McCain/Palin campaign is now afraid of what this news would do to their chances of winning tomorrow, especially if their base, the hardcore religious fundamentalists, found out that Palin had once gotten an abortion?
This is probably why Sarah Palin avoids press interviews. This one question “Have you ever gotten an abortion?” would pin her down. But so far, no one apparently has ever asked this question and the follow-up one if she responded no, “Then why won’t you release your medical records?”
Sarah Palin having gotten an abortion about twenty-five years ago is the only reason I can think of about why she won’t release her medical records…since an abortion is a medical procedure…and would have been recorded…somewhere.
November 3rd, 2008 at 3:29 pm> Just like she lied about releasing
> her medical records before the election.
Abortions, STD’s, fake pregnancies…oh my..we’re not in Kansas anymore toto…this woman screams of all these possibilities..
