Perino: Bush hopes McCain wins because he has the ‘right ideas’ on the economy.

During the White House press briefing today, Press Secretary Dana Perino said that “President Bush remains hopeful that John McCain will pull it out tomorrow night and win the election.” Perino added that Bush thinks McCain and other Republicans “have the right ideas when it comes to the economy and national security.” Watch it:

A little over a week ago, McCain told NBC’s Tom Brokaw that he and President Bush “share a common philosophy.”

  5. stateofthedivision says:

A simple look at eight years of George W. Bush shows his right ideas about the economy amount to:

    Make rich people richer

Most other measures show the U.S. went backwards under the Bush Presidency.

  6. Fan of Man says:

    Exxon Mobil Press Release:

YES, YES, YES, keep the bush/cheney economic tactics in place as long as possible. We love mccain and will support him with all our obscene profits because we love America and put our country first, well, maybe second behind profits. . .but regardless, we think Americans love having a model of successful American business despite hard economic times. Aren’t we great

    ?

  13. misshusseinmolly says:

Hmmm…Republican ideas on the economy. That would be funneling more money toward the rich while siphoning it from the poor. And we’ve seen how well this works.

And the Republican ideas on national security consist of p!ssing off the rest of the world and preventing travelers from carrying more than three ounces of shampoo. Yeah, I feel SO much safer knowing that so much of the world hates us, and that my travel toiletries are scrutinized more carefully than cargo containers entering this country.

What in the world will Blondie be doing once she no longer has her current job? She probably couldn’t even be convincing doing late-night infomercials.

  14. Nevar says:

I liked the last phrase of desperate Dana’s little spout:
“He’s (Dubya) also very realistic about the political environment we are in.”

George, sitting in the (empty) Oval Office on his last day…

    (Knock knock knock)
“Heh heh, who’s there? hee hee…”
“It’s Josh sir, your Chief of Staph, it’s time to go to the inauguration.”
“I don’t wanna go. I’m the Deciderer, and I’ve decided I’m going to stay.”
“We really need to leave sir, please come out now!”
    “Make me! hehhehheh…”
“Dick is here with me, Mr. Ex-President, and he brought his Persuader…”
“Uhhh, uhhh, OK, but can I keep my shredder, and Saddam’s pistol? And the rug?”

  15. Zimzone says:

Bush & Cheney should use cover of darkness & move out of D.C. next week sometime.

Let’s see now; Obama has Powell, McLellan & Clinton supporting him.
    McCain has Cheney & Bush.

    What could this possibly mean?…

  16. Dumb_Hussein_Fox says:

McCain has “the right ideas when it comes to the economy”

What would those ideas be? Suspending one’s campaign when markets go schizo? Retaining Phil Gramm as an economic advisor? Privatizing social security?

Those, my friends, are ideas you can believe in.

  17. DidHeJustSayThat says:

Perino: “…and Bush thinks McCain and other republicans know how to implement a good torture policy better than Obama!”

    Their timing is suspicious.

  18. proud liberal says:

Oh God I almost pissed down my leg when I heard this!!!! The SS Bushturd swirling in the bowl of history will go down as the Worst! EVERY SITTNG PRESIDENT Who cares what his opinion is??

  19. Bob says:

Would bush be less hopeful and more confident if McCain had a brother governor of a swingstate or two?

  20. gummitch says:

The Wall Street Journal had an editorial expressing a similar delusion about the soundness of McCain’s economic policies. To them, “lower taxes on rich people and corporations” is sound economic policy, regardless of the demonstrable result.

Of course, the same editorial reported that Biden had made many times more stupid comments than Palin . . .

  21. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

A little over a week ago, McCain told NBC’s Tom Brokaw that he and President Bush “share a common philosophy.”

Yeah, they do share the same philosophy – to be the president of the haves and have mores.

    ____________

Huh? You mean those haven’t been infomercials all this time?

Sheesh… she sure fooled me. To think I almost bought a “diamond-encrusted Rolex for just $39.95, plus shipping and handling”… heh… guess I’d have wasted my money on that one, huh?

  23. NoMoreBush says:

Will Ferrell on line one, Will Ferrell, line one. His SNL skit proved so prescient.

  24. darladooner says:

best part of her quote was: “but he is realistic about the political environment we are in.” which means to say: “even though he hopes mccain will win, he knows that the current political environment is the precise opposite of everything he and mccain stand for.”

  25. Nevar says:

    The Republic of Stupidity Says:

What’s up w/ the people in that picture?

They’re bored. All they have to do anymore is check the boxes on the pre-printed press books of things Dana has already said so many times before.

  26. QUALAR says:

George Bush doesn’t care about the economy because he has already raided the government trough for his supporters. He is, however, very concerned about control of the Justice Department. Many of the Bushites have committed crimes domestically and internationally. They are sweating bullets.

    ____________

Bored? I’d say border-line comatose at this point, just like McCain and his entire campaign. It’s is like a bad “Rocky” remake at this point. Ya wanna shout at the screen, “Fe cryin’ out loud, John… next time he hits ya, STAY DOWN.”

I wonder if John is having any regets about letting “them” talk him into putting Sarah on the ticket? Jes’ askin’…

  28. Max-1 says:

    NoMoreBush,
I thought the very same thing!

“A vote for me… a vote for McCain is a vote for me.”
“When you go into that voting booth, think of this face.”

    Thanks for the anvil, GeeDub.

  30. Nevar says:

I wonder if John is having any regets about letting “them” talk him into putting Sarah on the ticket? Jes’ askin’…

No doubt! I also pity the next plumber who gets called out to John’s place…

  31. upside99 says:

For those of you who remember Susie Chaffee (skier) who changed her name to “Susie Chapstick” for the ultimate endorsement, I now give you Dana “Puppy Chow Purina” the next ultimate sell-out endorsement!

  32. CageyCretin says:

Bush thinks McCain and other Republicans “have the right ideas when it comes to the economy and national security.”

Very telling, actually. “And other Republicans”: implying that ONLY the Republicans “have the right ideas”. A clever wording that reinforces the party first politics of the GOP, and plugs two hot issues.

Will these hateful, bigoted, America-hating, constitution-hating, democracy-hating, self-hating republican retards all just slink off somewhere, anywhere, except leadership positions. Newsflash: nobody likes you vicious, hive-minded people anymore, and all of your policies have now been PROVEN as failures. Take your toys (and ONLY your toys) and go home.

  33. stewarjt says:

This is the best thing the “high functioning moron” (- Paul Begala) said since he’s been in office!

  34. shoeless says:

“Bush thinks McCain and other Republicans “have the right ideas when it comes to the economy and national security.”

That’s nice, but I sure wish the Republicans would share some those ideas with us.

  35. nofltwlt says:

And McCain is not likely to hold Bush accountable for his crimes.

  36. DRxJ says:

Bush thinks McCain and other Republicans “have the right ideas when it comes to the economy and national security.”

    Rrrrrrrriiiight!

Because, watching your retirement funds drop faster than a Detroit Lion’s loss is the “right idea”!

And nothing says national security like doing NOTHING in a school full of children while our country was attacked.
    9/11 = Bush’s watch! Forever and ever!

  37. darladooner says:

“right ideas” = “more money for us”

  38. lm945 says:

Bush hopes McCain wins because he doesn’t want to go to jail.

  39. LibertyLover says:

    There’s that bungee cord again.

  40. MapleStreet says:

And if anyone knows the economy, it is Bush ?

  41. continuum says:

Unless Perino is being paid by the Republican campaign, and is not being paid by my tax dollars, why in God’s earth is she making any political endorsements from the White House.

If Bush wants to endorse McCain, then let him go out on a public street and say so.

Why are my tax dollars being used to pay Perino to advance the Republican political ideas.

If Gore couldn’t use a White House phone to make political calls, then how is it legal for Perino to tout the Republicans from the White House briefing room.

  42. xenon says:

Dana, you are a vile and idiotic wonder.

  43. sacopenapa says:

Perino: Bush hopes McCain wins because he has the ‘right ideas’ on the economy.

    Just like Bush/Chenney did…

  44. marlow says:

In “Opposite Land” where republican pixies dance in a shimmering gold mist, McBush’s certainly ARE the right ones.

  45. dmantelli says:

Please take some time to share this video with your undecided friends on this election eve. Watch this explosive new video on John McCain. It is in the style of Obama attack videos and those of The MouthPiece. It is fast paced and has an excellent soundtrack.

  46. EugeneDebs says:

Bush wouldnt recognize a ‘right idea’ if somone beat him over the head with it.
