Yesterday on Fox News Channel, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol predicted that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) has a bright future in American politics even if her ticket does not win today’s election. Kristol noted that Franklin Delano Roosevelt lost his bid for vice president in 1920 only to be elected president twelve years later:
KRISTOL: She has a future, she may not run in four years if McCain loses. Franklin Roosevelt, as a 38 year old, lost the vice presidential race. He became governor of New York and then was elected twelve years from [then]. … She reminds me a lot of FDR. I just said that so that can go — so the left wing blogs can go crazy.

FDR could have had a flatline EEG and would still be more intelligent than Caribou Barbie.
I voted early this morn, the turnout was quite heavy.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:35 amThanks, Bill
We basically owe this Obama win to you, yaknow.
Without your behind the scene wrangling & insisting Palin be the VP pick, we may have been looking at a Republic as President.
Thanks again, Billy, you really know how to pick ‘em…

November 4th, 2008 at 11:38 amI hope Palin runs for President every 4 years forever.

November 4th, 2008 at 11:44 amI arrived to my polling place before 7:00 and was shocked at the line. I’ve never been more than 20 spaces from the ballot table so being 200th was a bit surprising. Sadly, I live in Alabama and I’m sure 90% of the people in line with me were voting for McCain. It was nice to see the turnout though.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:45 amPalin reminds me of Dan Quayle.
I say that so Bill Kristol can go crazy.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:45 amIf that were to happen, i would be the first accurate/honest thing he’s reported in months.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:45 amWell, Palin and FDR are/were both carbon-based life forms, but the parallels don’t go too far beyond that.
Sorry Bill — not even your last gasps can rain on my parade today. You’ll have to find some other liberal to drive crazy.

In Ohio 2004 all votes shunted through a 3rd party IN Tennessee before the final tally !
Election returns are shunted from Ken Blackwell (Sec of State Ohio) through a 3rd parties computer in Chattanooga Tenn.and then back to the sec. of states website .
One wonders if the Reichwhiners love Bible Spice because they know that she’s such a moron that she believes anything her husband, preacher, or any old guy with an (R) after his name, tells her. She would be a perfect tool for the PNACers and other Reichwing entities. Lord knows she’s never given any indication that she has ever had an original thought.

November 4th, 2008 at 11:51 amKristol, Lowry, Buchanen. They all have the hots for Palin. Notice how the stages are built high and how the camera always pans her legs and butt as she walks up the stairs. I’m sure Kristol’s tongue is hanging out every time he watches that spectacle.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:52 amUmmm Bill — reality check Bill — comparing Sarah Palin to FDR is the equivalent of comparing Filet Mignon to a Big Mac.

Bill Kristol, who among other extremely poor judgements, pushed Palin as VP. For him to say that she has a future in the Republican party is the kiss of death for her. No tears.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:55 amWhat a cawicky dink, Palin reminds me of the Depression.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:57 amBill Kristol reminds me a lot of a jagged tool. I only say that so Bill Kristol can go crazy.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:57 amI’m missing something here.
When I look at Palin, I register a lot of really dumb quotes. The lady didn’t even know what the VP does. Seeing Russia is foreign policy experience, etc.
Yet, on an NPR interview this AM, one guy actually said that he was a conservative and would vote for McCain/Palin but he’d rather be voting for Palin/McCain.
November 4th, 2008 at 11:59 amThe first order of business for the new Congress next January should be to pass a law forbidding fascist neocons from comparing either themselves or other extremist right-wing Republicans to FDR.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:01 pmSo Palin is FDR, Bush is Lincoln and according to McCain we are all Georgians. Fine and dandy, dellusional GOOPers. Let’s just hope that tomorrow morning our President Elect IS Barack Obama!

November 4th, 2008 at 12:06 pmKristol is delusional. The “…left wing blogs…” could give a rat’s ass if/when Bill Kristol spews his obvious BS rhetoric. It’s old news, Kristol is a joke, and he and the rest of the miserable scum like Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, etc. should go crawl back into the cesspool they share.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:07 pmThis is his schtick now. He pulled it like three times on John Stewart. This is highly annoying. The only way for a rightie to have any fun at all when his pov is being repudiated by the American people.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:08 pmActually, Obama is FDR. In 1930, after great economic turmoil, Democrats swept to a considerable majority in the House and a small majority in the Senate. Republicans spent ‘31 and ‘32 blocking Democratic legislation to help with the economic crisis. As we all know, in ‘32, Democrats continued sweeping the House and Senate to margins that would keep them in power for 4 decades. With the Executive and Legislative branches under Democratic control, FDR proceeded to enact policy which created the strongest middle class in the history of civilization. In 1980, republicans began dismantling it again. That’s over now. Time to rebuild.

November 4th, 2008 at 12:16 pmThis would be funny if only one of our oddball friends would show up to defend the poor dimwitted annoying lady. Where are all the freaks today?
November 4th, 2008 at 12:17 pmAnd how old will Mr KrisTOOL be in 12 yrs? Hope by then the ugliness has overtaken him, as it has Dick-y, and he’ll depress the ratings even with the mute button on.

November 4th, 2008 at 12:24 pmThis folks is a truly great man. A man who would sacrifice his self-respect, professionalism, and credibility just to tweak leftwing bloggers.
It’s not a joke if what regularly comes out of your yakker is baseless nonsense and predictions that consistently are disproven time and time again. When you take your job seriously occasionally instead of being the worst political salesman in the country and actually get a call right for once in your life, you can joke a little. But being the biggest tool on television and an utter embarrassment to people who actually have some pride, you ought to be digging in and trying to nail one for once instead of worrying about some bloggers who are supposed to be so irrelevant.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:27 pmLooking to get back in with his friends are we. Now FDR is insulted to be compaired to Sarah Boop. First FDR read and understood the US Constitution, Sarah doesn’t read and only gets news from a Starbucks cup.

I think this is the closest we can come to making sense out of Kristol’s nonsensical statement. Hopefully Obama will have even 1/10th the positive impact that FDR had…
November 4th, 2008 at 12:28 pmFDR? How about FU?

November 4th, 2008 at 12:53 pmSarah Palin reminds me of certain lots of Peter Pan Peanut Butter. The jars that made people sick and needed to be recalled.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:54 pmFor the righties, Obama will unify America much as raygun did only for the right reasons.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:58 pmKristol is used to spewing stupid shit and getting praised for it at Fox News. As he showed on The Daily Show if you call him on it he’ll pretend it was a joke. He doesn’t even have the courage of his convictions. He is a coward just like the good neocon he is. I long for the days of tar and feathering.
November 4th, 2008 at 12:59 pmMcCain reminds me of Reagan. The addled brained Alzheimered Reagan that couldn’t remember anything at the Iran/Contra hearings.
November 4th, 2008 at 1:01 pmKristol is practicing for his next career as a standup comic. The pundit bit just hasn’t worked out the way he planned.

With non-stop and uproarious laughter and ridicule of that insanely moronic statement ; thanks , William the Effeminate ……You’ve certainly made the ‘08 presidential election memorable and terrific for progressives , Bill ; keep up the good work.

I’m convinced that Kristol will always have a job, even if he never, ever gets anything right again.
But mark my words, Alaska is going to defecate on Governor Palin.
November 4th, 2008 at 1:36 pmYeah, she reminds me a lot of FDR too, especially because… um… lessee… the thi– no, wait, um… hmmm.
Really, the only thing that I can think of, and pardon my rudeness, is that FDR’s brain no longer functions. It’s been clinically dead for many years.

November 4th, 2008 at 1:43 pmPalin is exactly like FDR. That is if you take away Roosevelt’s intellect, vision, curiosity, fortitude, compassion and obvious greatness. We’d also have to ignore his experience as Assistant Secretary of the Navy during WWI (he created the Navy Reserve FFS!) and his lil’ stint as Governor of New York.
Other than that Palin’s a dead ringer for FDR.

November 4th, 2008 at 1:47 pmAndrew Sullivan Is A Fraud
What does one expect from a guy who wrote an entire book on how fascism was actually liberal in origin?
Which brings to mind another almost forgotten historical tidbit from the early ’30’s. A group of wealthy industrialists who admired the “order” or Hitler-style fascism planned a military coup in 1933 to remove FDR from office. Their biggest mistake was to include WWI hero General Smedley Butler in their plans. He played along, but went to Congress and spilled the beans. The entire incident was covered up by the media. If you don’t believe me, Google on “Prescott Bush” AND “1933″ AND “coup” and find out for yourself.
November 4th, 2008 at 1:50 pmBecause she’s lame?!

November 4th, 2008 at 2:14 pmI was getting kind of a James K. Polk vibe off of her, myself… what?!?
That’s like saying up is down.
This guy has got to be tapped as campaign manager for the Palin / Wurzelbacher 2012 ticket. He’s just too freakin’ brilliant for words. You know, he kinda reminds me of a young René Magritte…
November 4th, 2008 at 2:14 pmMr. Roosevelt had a disease that left him crippled. Sarah has no receipt.

November 4th, 2008 at 3:47 pmBill Kristol reminds me a lot of Bill Shakespeare.
The two of them neatly circumscribe the complete range of possibilities of what one can achieve while writing in the English language.
