Report: Pentagon to begin briefing president-elect’s transition team ‘almost immediately.’

NBC News reports that because “the upcoming political transition will be the first in wartime since Vietnam,” Pentagon officials are prepared to begin briefing the new president-elect’s transition team “almost immediately” after today’s elections. Officials tell NBC that “they intend to expedite the security-clearance process so that transition members would actually be able to sit alongside top Pentagon and military leaders during secure satellite briefings with combatant military commanders from Iraq and Afghanistan.” “We are undertaking Herculean efforts to ensure the transition goes as smoothly and seamlessly as possible,” said one official.

if god forbid caribou barbie by some freak of nature finds herself in that position, the pentagon’s job will be easy since she can see russia from alaska.

Maybe if Flippy and Chippy win. Though, even then, I think it’s far more likely that Bushco will be busy shredding documents and wiping hard drives. Everything we know about Chimpy’s character suggests a scorched earth policy. I just hope he doesn’t start more wars.

De minimis, a term that just popped into my head – that should be the availability of Pentagon cooperation with ..BUSH! Phase the guy out using some of his own administration’s ploys; hide the files in a secret vault; don’t invite him to his own meetings; send Air Force One off without landing clearance; close the Crawford airport for 77 days when Bush lands there next; shuttle Air Force One from here to there without landing clearance; claim executive privilege as a means of non-disclosure to Bush and Cheney. We need the Pentagon to protect us as never before.

Surprisingly, this transition will be the ONLY thing this administration has done successfully in the last 8 years — unless you include ruining our country and ruining our country’s moral standing worldwide. And they successfully stole every penny from our coffers that they could (and then some), enabled corporations to amass historical profits in wartime — effectively encouraging war profiteering, and protecting the criminal corporations engaging in it.
