Here in San Francisco, the Chronicle published a separate special section about the election that was sold only on the street for $1. The guy I bought it from had a huge roll of cash, so I think it’s doing well.

Recall when the righties lambasted our, future first lady for saying this: ” Michelle Obama, 44, an Ivy League-educated lawyer (Princeton, Harvard Law), was campaigning for her husband Monday in Wisconsin when she said: “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction.”

Actually, the training was at the Convention Center. I just stayed at the hotel near USF because it was cheaper, and it was near Free Beer!
I was interested in going to game 1 or 2 of the ALCS, but never got around to actually attending.

First thing this morning I went and bought the LAST TWO papers that our local stores had, a Seattle PI and Times, could not find a NY Times anywhere, went to 7 stores looking for one. A guy who had bought the ones before me said he had went to 14 different stores looking for one.

I will preserve them in plastic hidden from the sun to pass down to my grandkids.

i recorded a bunch of parts of the returns on msnbc and cnn and then OBAMA’s speech… i called and woke my mom when it was called and she was thrilled but went back to sleep…
she came by earlier today and we watched his speech together…
really glad i recorded it!

Being a sports junkie, and an avid fan of Detroit, when the team I support wins a world or national championship, I like to horde the papers, commemorative magazines, DVDs, … etc. to not only review for later reading or viewing pleasure (to relive the moment), but also to have as a memorandum for my children and grandchildren.
This is no different, only in that the election was of greater importance.

OT, but I had to share….

On Wednesday, Mandela’s aides released a letter from the first black president of South Africa to the first black president-elect of the United States.

“Your victory has demonstrated that no person anywhere in the world should not dare to dream of wanting to change the world for a better place,” wrote Mandela, who hailed Obama’s commitment to altering America’s foreign policies.

“We wish you strength and fortitude in the challenging days and years that lie ahead,” continued Mandela. “We are sure you will ultimately achieve your dream (of) making the United States of America a full partner in a community of nations committed to peace and prosperity for all.”

yesterday i was looking at one of my OBAMA signs, stuck in a flower bed with an unused signpost (a signmaker with a broken sign)… i thought, “i need another flag out there”, and on the spur of the moment i went out to find another flag & bracket – btw, wearing my VOTE OBOMA NOV 4 t-shirt, getting little appreciation…

i was worried later that i may have put a jinx on things, so i left it alone… after the election was called for OBAMA (!!!), i went out with my cordless driver and put up the bracket…

this morning, my righty neighbor’s stupid (seriously) dog woke me too early as usual… but, instead of laying there stewing, i got up, took my flag up on my shoulder, waving it proudly on my way to the sign post, and placed it above the OBAMA sign…

it was beautiful… early morning light… righty neighbors having to look while on their way to work…

then, i drove to the large supermarket and picked up the chicago tribune, st.louis post dispatch, decatur herald, and usa today… my daughter in chicago got a NYT for me…

later in the morning my righty neighbor pulled up all his righty signs… i’m leaving my OBAMA signs up for a while…
maybe january?
