Politico’s Mike Allen reports today that Robert Gibbs, communications director in Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and a key strategist who “helped plan and package” his “rapid move to the national stage,” will be named as the Obama administration’s White House Press Secretary. Allen adds that the “announcement is likely to be viewed favorably by reporters because Gibbs has unquestioned authority, access and institutional memory.”
But is he as qualified as Dana Purina?
November 6th, 2008 at 10:56 am“Robert Gibbs will be White House Press Secretary.”
- - Suck it, Sean Hannity.
November 6th, 2008 at 10:58 amDammit, I was hoping he'd go for Olbermann!
/kidding.
November 6th, 2008 at 10:59 amI can see it now. Michael Buffer introduces the new White House Press Secretary under President elect Obama:
"Welcome to the Gibb Zone!"
Now pay no attention to Rahm Emanuel!
November 6th, 2008 at 10:59 amLooks good to me!
The people who helped him run this phenomenally successful campaign should receive serious consideration for posts.
I'm not sure whether this is rational, but I would like to see Obama restrain himself in bringing in Clinton affiliates.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:02 amSean Hannity == mouthy white boy
November 6th, 2008 at 11:07 amI just never get tired of watching Hannity get smacked down :)
November 6th, 2008 at 11:15 amA press secretary that answers questions, that could just send our psyches into shock.
Nonetheless, great news.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:16 amGibbs will be a good PS; he did a outstanding job advocating for Barack during the campaign.
....and yes, Hannity can suçk it.

November 6th, 2008 at 11:20 amI still can't believe this is happening. That we're about to get an articulate and competent President with a professional staff that will be able to speak in gramatically-correct English, and can actually think for themselves without talking points. Wow.
So this is what it's like to live in an Industrialized Nation... I'd forgotten.

_______
Not just that, but he did a good job keeping the campaign and its associates on message. That's why you rarely if ever saw Obama's people contradicting each other and themselves like the McCain surrogates.
I do hope that he will indeed be good for the job. Campaign communications director and White House press secretary are very different jobs, and good campaign people don't always translate into good White House people - think Stephanopoulos.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:25 amUnderstatement of the day:
Hannity's kind of an a$$, ain't he?
November 6th, 2008 at 11:29 amOnce again, Hannity doesn't know what he's talking about or when to shut up.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:35 amGood on you, Robert Gibbs.
Is Sean Hannity King of the Thugs? Vote now.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:45 amDang, I couldn't finish watching that tape of Gibbs and Hannity. The electorate wasn't served in the least.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:50 amMurdoch's NewsCorp made CNBN. The highlights:
30% decline in net income, hurt by advertising downturn. Outlook grim. Stock down 60% ytd, near 12 year low. Ad declines even hit NewsCorp's television division.
Might Sean need to worry about that fat contract he just signed?
November 6th, 2008 at 11:54 amIs Sean Hannity King of the Thugs?
Actually, Little Seanie is Queen of the Thugs. Rush Limpballs is King of the Thugs. Receiving honorable mention as Court Jesters are Savage Weiner, the Beckster and Little Billy O.
The rest of the right-wing rant-jockeys are merely royal fluffers.
November 6th, 2008 at 11:54 amJust the thought of a White House press secretary whos not a Bush mouthpiece spreading Bush propaganda makes me a little happier
November 6th, 2008 at 11:57 amSean Hannity , purveyor of misinformation !
November 6th, 2008 at 12:23 pmHe pals around with racists and can't spew his special brand of hate fast enough to fool anyone !
Does the man ever shut up ?
Take it to the enemy Mr. Gibbs ! It's time that the other side is made to play defense !The indefensible is all they have left to energize their base .
November 6th, 2008 at 12:26 pmDana is qualified to bring Mr. Gibbs coffee while she studies American History for an BA Degree. Yes qualified people will now get jobs and will have to answer to a real President and the American people. Dana's circus and free loading days are over. She can apply for a job at McDonald's.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:29 pmI would be confident behind this guy, He's a real communicator.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:40 pmIt seemed to me years ago a fact that while debating Jason Hendler or Exley , 2 of our best trolls here in the past , they could twist facts and figures to form a good argument ,the moment the ethics or morality of their propositions was attacked , they retreated .
November 6th, 2008 at 12:57 pmIt must be difficult using the supposed Christian right as a wedge issue . They simultaneously had to defend the ideas of Milton Friedman and , unchecked self interest and militarism , as well as good Christian values ?
Someone needs to explain the message of Jesus to their constituency !
Yippee Yippee -- I have a man-crush on Robert Gibbs -- I think he is great and affable.
November 6th, 2008 at 12:57 pmThe spirit not the letter of the law .
November 6th, 2008 at 12:59 pmLet's not forget Kneel Boortz, Hannity's little lap-puppy or "On Call" Fluffer, 24/7!
By the way Boortz's last name is pronounced exactly like,
"The sound of gas escaping one's arse or like this-
BBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTZZZZZZZZZZ!!
'
November 6th, 2008 at 1:12 pmthe sound of gas
I love that video of piss ant Hannity getting his a$$ handed to him. Although I must say if I were Gibbs I probably would have b*tch slapped Hannity.
November 6th, 2008 at 1:44 pmI'm glad to hear this - I loved the way he took down Hannity!
November 6th, 2008 at 2:02 pmI like this guy.
Hannity smack down: BONUS!!
November 6th, 2008 at 4:09 pmDon't know him from Adam.
