Party’s over for Palin: GOP goes to collect leftovers from her shopping spree.

palingrey.jpg After controversy erupted over Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-AK) largely unauthorized spending spree, Palin announced that she would no longer be wearing the expensive clothing: “Those clothes, they are not my property. … I’m not taking them with me.” However, it seems that a few items did make it back to Alaska with her, and the GOP is coming to reclaim them:

Sarah Palin left the national stage Wednesday, but the controversy over her role on the ticket flared as aides to John McCain disclosed new details about her expensive wardrobe purchases and revealed that a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession.

A new story in Newsweek reveals that Palin “spent ‘tens of thousands’ more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband.”

    Bwahahahahahahaha!

  2. raynman says:

I can’t wait for the YouTube videos of Republican lawyers walking out of Palin’s house with their arms full of clothes…

  3. DidHeJustSayThat says:

This is just another attempt to smear her. Have no doubt, she sucks, but she should get something out of this deal!

  4. joe cantwell says:

    she’s giving back the clothes

but she’s keeping the hotel towels.

    :)

    and the bathrobe.

That GOP lawyer better be careful. She has firearms and she’s a good shot.

Will she keep Checkers the dog too?

  7. Roket says:

Does this mean the RNC is going to have a yard sale?

  8. Buckie Boy says:

And will the people of Walsilla try and reclaim the materials that she stole from the sports center to build their house there?

She is just another Repukian Mafia Criminal, corrupt to the core.

  10. A Patriot Acting says:

She needs to return all the clothes but she has been informed that she can keep the budoir shots of Rich Lowry. Those were a gift. William Kristol has volunteered to go to Alaska personally to retrieve any of the used panties that she still has. KKKarl has dibs on Todd’s used manties.

  11. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

“Those clothes, they are not my property. … I’m not taking them with me.”

You will notice she never said that until after she found out she would have to pay taxes on her wardrobe. All of a sudden it didn’t belong to her.

Sarah the Grifter, here. You betcha. Also.

  13. Patty says:

They might want to check her hotel room desk drawer and make sure the Bible is still there — and the infamous towels.

  14. CallMeBeerBaron says:

Im of the opinion that Palin should go ahead and keep them… if she wants 2012 she’s gonna need them. And god we want her to run again in 2012. easiest race for Dems EVER.

    I’m just saying…

Good-bye and good riddance, well dressed or not, have a nice trip back to obscurity. If our new presidential team needs any executive or energy advise, know that you would be the last person they’d call.

See? The Republicans don’t care about the “little people” and are so greedy that they will steal the clothes right off your back.

    Ha!

  17. wolfz0rz says:

    @Nettles

To be fair, close to 60 million people thought this woman should actually be in the White House. All they’re doing here is pointing out how much of a travesty that would have been.

  18. LibertyLover says:

    Hey Nettles.

Chill. We’re only vetting her in advance of 2012.

  19. barracks9 says:

    Nettles Says:

    Kinda sad, actually.

    Sad, yes.

Sad that the Rethug party perpetrated this elaborate hoax on America, presenting a vapid, vacuous shill as a credible VP candidate.

Pardon us for enjoying our Schadenfreude.

    ‘Cause we are!

  20. DRxJ says:

    Yes Nestles.
    1) Glad you’re our official subject post monitor. You are doing a heckuva job, brownie-face!
    2) This site is about the PROGRESSIVE movement. Failin’ Palin’s wardrobe accountability is in fact, regressive, and should be reported, as well as any other story, as she is supposedly vying for the GOP “top dog” for 2012, which, in itself, is regressive.
    3) Want some cheese with that whine?

Not sad, Nettles. Just funny. Sarah’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Hey, don’t blame us. YOU GUYS are the ones who nominated her.

  23. kasinca says:

This entire episode was an indicatation of the disdain the GOP has for women. As far as I could tell, and I am an older man, they abused this woman for their political gain. When it didn’t work out, they kicked her to the curb. She was a terrible choice for the VP slot and the reason it didn’t work was the fact that McSame never vetted her. He demonstrated poor judgement.

  24. Patty says:

    Nettles Says:
I think someone forgot to tell you that your candidate won.

Call it a public service: pointing out hypocrisy when it rears its toweled head.

Unfortunately for the Senate, she may just be joining the group, as soon as they give Ted Stevens the boot.

  25. Bozo The Neoclown says:

let me make it real easy for the goopers…anything that doesn’t have a wal-mart label in her closet, take it with you! trailer park trash like palin can’t pronounce “chanel” nevermind buy it.

  26. DRxJ says:

Hey Nestles, if I may also add. It just goes to show, that this site, even with America’s progressive victory, is still going to move… (are you ready?)… FORWARD!
We are not going to let are guard down.
It was a long, hard fight. It will continue to be so.
We will not become complacent. Complacency among the center and right is what caused this mess the last 8 years.

    “Times, they are a changin’”
But it’s a slow change. So, relax hershey-face! You’re now free to go about your mental fantasy of showered Failin’ Palin in a body towel!

  27. Uncle Ho says:

Joe Cantwell; according to reporters, the hotel towels WAS her bathrobe.

  28. NoMoreBush says:

This is much less about Palin, although the whole puerile interest is just so satisfying given her abundant arrogance, and much much more about McCain and the judgment of his senior campaign handlers, Rick (Simpson-Face Cartoon Mouth) Davis and Steve Schmidt. Obviously, those two were thinking with their little heads and not their big heads (although they are Republicans, so the little head is likely way more intelligent). McCain should apologize to the American people for running a most unserious campaign (see Palin and Joe the Plumber) for serious times. He needs to reconsider his self-righteous platitudes of “country first” in light of the Frankenstein monster he proposed to unleash on the American people.

As for Davis and Schmidt, they should be prohibited from running a lemonade stand based on their breathtaking incompetence in some of their decision making for the McCain. Each of them need to reflect on exactly the depths each dove over the past 5 months.

  29. sectionop92 says:

Throw in some criminal prosecution and Palin will have a hat trick so few politicians actively strive for.

That you actually believed she was qualified to be VP , and cast a vote for McDepends ; now that’s truly sad ……….

Really, auction it all off – there’s folks creepy enough out there to pay top dollar for something that reeks of desperation and ignorance.

Then the proceeds can go to Battered Women’s Shelters, or Special Olympics, or Public Libraries, or the law suits against Prop 8…

    Just sayin’…

My guess is that all the worn women’s and girl’s clothes will be auctioned internally. Sarah Palin’s name might be a dirty word, but she is still a pleasant thought to many of the GOP male elite. Plus deviancy is a persistent in the party, so the Palin girl’s garbs will also fetch enough money to make the coffers rebound and people like Billo and Rush look forward to Friday’s by themselves.

  45. squidbilly says:

The GOP could sell her clothes booty on ebay!!!!

“6 of the last 12 stories here were about Sarah Palin, the Thursday after Election Day. I think someone forgot to tell you that your candidate won. Guess y’all gotta stick with whomever butters your bread.

No, its not sad…shining a light on this frighteningly ignorant hillybilly biblehumping piece of cult trash is a necessity…this is someone that 55 percent of white folks voted for, to be a 72 year old cancer patients heart beat away from the presidency..white people, usually pretty sensible, if not the best dancers, certainly did NOT vote their best interests this time, unless by “best interests” you mean “dying in a nuclear holocaust”….

Unless this woman is exposed, humiliated, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for every money grubbing crime she has commited in office, her, or others like her, will be encouraged to try for the presidencey again…that needs to be discouraged by any legal means necessary….

Cancer…a word used by one of your guys.. is just the best way to describe her…and just because the cancer goes away, no doctor would say to stop treatment..the treatment must continue until there is no viable chance of return…glad to see some on the GOP are realizing that..

But you’re right; undoubtedly get more money for the clothes she actually wore than the outfits she was saving for the inauguration.

  50. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >Let her keep them — and pay taxes on them.

Yeah, this is probably what will happen if she claims she “lost” them….I’m more than happy to have her pay 15-25 percent of 150,000 $ to keep the clothes..

  51. Bozo The Neoclown says:

the part of this story that always makes me smile is this whole mess is coming from the party of “fiscal responsibility”

  52. gummitch says:

What I remember about the additional $20K or whatever was that the Palins put it on the credit card of some GOP contributor — and that he flipped out when he got the bill.

Let’s not be badmouthing witches. Unlike the biblical portrayal of witches, they are, by far and large, quite Earth-centered, frequently environmentalists, and never “drill, baby, drill.”

  54. Briseadh na Faire says:

I, too, would be interested in knowing which charity will benefit from the RNC’s largess in providing Caribou Barbie such finery.

What should she get? She should keep the clothes that don’t belong to her?? She should be happy that McCain’s inability to discern capable from incapable led to her being the VP pick. Had the vetting process actually worked, she wouldn’t have been touched by a 10 foot poll.

  57. Who Lied Today? says:

I just loves me a nasty, public, break-up.

  58. itistime says:

I really don’t care, I wouldn’t mind seeing her without clothes on at all

  59. MapleStreet says:

If she handled the GOP funds with such alacrity, how would she have handled the American budget and funds ?

Of course, there is a side of me that wants to donate a moose costume to Palin, drop her off in the snowfields, and let marksmen hunt her from helicopters. It would be Karma.

  60. ElBruce says:

The RNC is also dispatching another team to try to locate somebody who gives a rodent’s rectum about this.

  61. jlux says:

I don’t know who all you people are but you are all very cruel people. You should be ashamed of yourselves for treating another person this way. She is a much better, smarter and caring person than any of you will ever be.

  62. amocz says:

jlux, I don’t know whether Sarah Palin is a better, smart, caring person than anyone else, or just a low-caliber local AK politico who got thrust (with no little help from her owndamnself, however) into a situation in which she was doomed to become a laughingstock/scapegoat in the end, because she was just not ready, or able to assume the office which John McCain, to his everlasting abomination, saw fit to offer her — and in doing so, sold out the “Country” that he supposedly put “First”.

As far as I am concerned, she can keep the damned clothes! After all, folks, this is RNC money we are talking about here, not public funds. Every dime they spent on Barbie and Ken makeovers was a dime they didn’t have to push slimy attack ads over the airwaves against progressive candidates. Any bucks the RNC can recover by repo-ing the wardrobe and hawking it to GOPervs on eBay will be used for that purpose, or else for funding kerning research projects in Kenya/Indonesia/etc.

So Barbie, Ken & Co.: keep all the fancy threads, if you can afford the tax hit (unfortunately, that is one issue that has become too high profile to be finessed away!)

Otherwise they are just going to become pricey joyrags in the bottom drawers of the Rich Lowry/Rush Limpbaugh contingent of the God’s Onanism Party, you betcha!

  63. abarts says:

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Thats right you DONT know us so your stupid statement ABOUT us is meaningless except to show how stupid you are. I mean you dont even put a whole two sentences between your contradictory statements and no she is NOT smarter than virtually anyone here. I for instance actually DID know that Africa was a CONTINENT not a NATION and what the countries in NAFTA WERE. She also proved herself to be a liar, arrogant and hateful. No she is ignorant and hateful. Kind of like YOU. You can show yourself out in disgrace moron.
