Bayh: Democrats ‘Should Have a Spirit Of Forgiveness With Regard To Joe Lieberman’

Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) met with Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) to discuss Lieberman’s future in the Democratic party. An aide said Reid was leaning toward removing Lieberman as chair of the Homeland Security Committee.

Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) has taken on a more forgiving approach. Interviewed on Fox News yesterday, Bayh said he disagreed with stripping Lieberman of his chair. “No, I don’t think there should be retribution,” he said. “I think reconciliation is in order, not revenge or retribution.” Bayh suggested that Lieberman apologize and “let bygones be bygones”:

BAYH: And I think if Joe came before the caucus and said look, if I said some things that came as offensive, I’m sorry, but they were, you know heartfelt in my support of John McCain. I think we had to just let bygones be bygones. We’re going to need him on healthcare and energy independence and education and a whole lot of other things.

Bayh said Lieberman may have “perhaps crossed the line” in questioning Obama’s patriotism. But he maintained, “I think everybody understands that supporting your friend [McCain] is perfectly legitimate” and that “we should have a spirit of forgiveness with regard to Joe Lieberman and reconcile and move forward.” Presented with some of Lieberman’s more notorious comments, Bayh countered, saying Lieberman “votes with the majority of Democrats, a vast majority of the time.”

“I think Joe Lieberman got caught up in the emotions of the moment and went too far. It’s a human aspect that I think we all can relate to,” Bayh stated. Watch it:

The New York Times reported that “some Senate Democrats and aides say it is unthinkable to let Mr. Lieberman head a committee that will conduct oversight of the Obama administration,” given his ad hominem attacks on Obama during the campaign. An anonymous Lieberman aide said losing the chairmanship would be “unacceptable.”

Bayh concluded that Lieberman is “strong on national security.” “And we’re going to prove that there is a place for Democrats who are strong on national security in the Democratic Party,” he said.

Update Reid spokesperson Jim Manley outlines the next steps: "If Senator Reid and Lieberman don't reach an agreement, his future chairmanship may be put to a vote by the caucus as a whole on November 18th.

I used to have respect for Evan Bayh.

This kills it. Evan Bayh now strikes me as the kind of guy who, as a kid, would get his head dunked in the toilet in the morning and then at lunch share his Ring Dings with the kids who dunked him, thinking he was being “forgiving”.

Only problem is good ol’ Joe isn’t sorry for anything that he’s done. . . after all, he was doing what was best for the country. Hard to reconcile with him when he’ll look you in the eye and say your positions and candidate suck but let me have a significant role in the policy and procedures of the party I have trashed.

No, he is strong on fear…BIG difference.

  12. DallasNE says:

There should be some common ground available. First, a general apology is not enough. He must apologise to Obama for questioning his patriotism, etc. Yes, I would allow him to say that in hindsight he can see where his comments were offensive and wrong. I would then give him the Chairmanship of a lesser Committee with an understanding that in two years he could chair this committee again. He would, in other words, be on probation for two years and have to earn his way back into the good graces of Democrats.

Speaking to 2002 luncheon hosted by AIPAC, a pro-Israel lobby group, Bayh “described his lifelong affection for the state of Israel, beginning with a boyhood vacation there, and deepening with his many official visits as a governor and senator.

Bayh is domestically liberal, but quite the foreign policy hawk.

  17. hussein toasterhead says:

Why does Lieberman still have a chairmanship to begin with? He’s not a Democrat, and thus no longer a member of the Democratic majority. If he wants to chair a committee, he’ll have to wait until the Independent party has 51 seats.

  18. zuch says:

Yeah, I saw that on CNN. Vomit-inducing.

    Look, Evan:

If you don’t punish bad behaviour, they’ll never stop.

Strip his positions, his chairmanship. Punish the misbehaviour. Let him apologise for his sins, and promise to behave better in the future. Then, if and when he can show that he’s seen the error of his ways, and is behaving better (you know, like not sitting with the Rethuglicans as they try to filibuster any Obama nominations), we can think about rewarding his good behaviour.

But if there isn’t actual reward and punishment (and cognisance of his wrong-doing), don’t expect his behaviour to change. That’s the way it works with children….

    Cheers,

  19. leekinny says:

I’m all for forgiving. BUT, this is about being qualified for the job he’s expected to do as a Democrat. His past behavior shows he is not up to performing, even minimally, the duties he would be required to do as a loyal Democrat.

  20. jjm says:

To do as Bayh suggests would add fuel to the Republican contention that Democrats are weak not strong. How can anyone be so silly as Bayh here?

It would be great to punish Lieberman. (“Bring in the rolling guillotine…!”) He well deserves it. However. In victory magnanimity. Maybe if he’s read the riot act and admonished to sin no more and gets with the programme he can be a useful tool keeping the Right (who are invariably wrong about virtually everything) in check.

    ________

How, by siding with them on even worse foreign policy blunders? By continuing to push a pro-Israel agenda that will make us look even worse in the eyes of the world? By continuing to question the patriotism of the President?

Joe Lieberman helped almost put a woman in the White House who couldn’t name all the countries in North America.

I’m all for forgiveness, but forgiveness can only come after repentance and redemption, and he has quite a lot to be sorry for.

He can keep the Republicans in check from his position as an Independent Senator from Connecticut. He doesn’t need a chairmanship to do that.

  33. lm945 says:

And can anyone imagine Presidents Kennedy or Reagan sitting down unconditionally with Ahmadinejad or Chavez? I certainly cannot.”

  40. gus smith says:

Bayh’s comment on forgiveness for Liebermann just does not compute. How can one be forgiven for having a differing opinion and why would it have any meaning? At least, Liebermann should have shut up and avoided commenting against Obama and for McCain; his presence spoke volumes. We are better of if there is less partisanship in Congress but perhaps that means only about the issues. Liebermann is obviously not a Democrat so he has forfeited those perks.

  41. SWBob says:

    #14 DallasNE:

I think you are the right track….the best tactic the dems could employ is to turn him. Reduce his role and condition future regaining of his chairmanship on acting like a democrate in all respects. Joe should know that Obama will throw the kitchen sink at him while the repubs can’t offer him squat when he comes up for re-election.

  42. impeachcheneythenbush says:

I’m relieved Bayh wasn’t the VP selection and was concerned when he was on the short list (for both Obama and Hillary). I can understand Lieberman supporting McCain because they share the same view on Iraq and Iran, as well as their friendship, but it’s not only his campaigning for him plus the crappy things he said about Obama that bothers me. He also campaigned for down-ticket Republicans! And expressed his fear of what would happen to the country if the Democrats achieved a fillibuster-proof majority.

There is NO WAY this guy should even be allowed to chair any committee, small or large. He’s not a Democrat, and they only made the deal with him because he agreed to caucus with the DEMS. Well, he’s broken that promise big time, on the biggest issue. But I’d just as soon he was allowed to stay within their tent, until the new Congress in Jan. of next year. I’m concerned about the majority rule shifting toward the Republicans at this late date, and every single tie vote having to be broken by Cheney. And in fact, if he actually switched parties at this late date, it would be 50-50 in the Senate. No majority…and who chairs any of the committees under that circumstance? He could possible, theoretically, tie up the Senate for the next two months. As Rachel would say, I “need to be talked down” on this one.

  43. freeman says:

Whatever happened to the violent radicalization and homegrown terrorist act that sits presently in Joe’s committee ?

  44. DidHeJustSayThat says:

Even if the dems pick up the three seats still in contention, they won’t have the filibuster proof majority.

If the republicans are going to be vehemently partisan, 56, 57, 58, nor 59 will get it done. There is going to have to be a bipartisan effort to get any legislation passed.

Joe LIEberman did more than just abandon his party, he was quite unprincipled in doing so. To oppose one candidate, or favor another is one thing. To participate in the ridiculous smear job, to intimidate Jewish voters is completely another. He doesn’t need the senate, he doesn’t need the democrats. The democrats don’t need him and on principle should excommunicate him.

Just what we need, a crap corroboration of democrats being weak on national security. How/when/where/why is there no place for a national security wing in the democratic party, Evan? People are looking for smarts on national security, and being strong (reckless) doesn’t necessarily translate to gains in national security.

I’m tired of blue dogs. No wonder I’m wary of the word ‘bipartisan.’ The losing right can shape ‘bipartisan’ outcomes tilted in their favor.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has reached out to Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) about the prospect of joining the Republican conference, but Lieberman is still bargaining with Democratic leaders to keep his chairmanship, according to Senate aides in both parties.

“Senator Lieberman’s preference is to stay in the caucus, but he’s going to keep all his options open,” a Lieberman aide said. “McConnell has reached out to him and at this stage his position is he wants to remain in the caucus but losing the chairmanship is unacceptable.”

A Republican Senate aide said Friday morning that there was little McConnell could offer in terms of high ranking committee slots, which is why Lieberman is resisting overtures from the Republican side.

  54. A Patriot Acting says:

Excerpts from Lieberman’s speech at the RNC:

“I think you know that both of the presidential candidates this year have talked about changing the culture of Washington, about breaking through the partisan gridlock and the special interests that are poisoning our politics, but, my friends, only one of them has actually done it.

Only one of them has shown the courage and the capability to rise above the smallness of our politics to get big things done for our country and our people. And that one is John S. McCain.”

“Trust me: God only made one John McCain, and he is his own man.”

“If John McCain was just another go-along partisan politician, he never would have taken on corrupt Republican lobbyists, or big corporations that were cheating the American people, or powerful colleagues in Congress who were wasting taxpayer money. But he did.”

“Gov. Palin, like John McCain, is a reformer. She’s taken on the special interests and the political power-brokers in Alaska and reached across party lines to get things done. The truth is, she is a leader we can count on to help John shake up Washington.”

“…when colleagues like Barack Obama were voting to cut off funding for our American troops on the battlefield, John McCain had the courage to stand against the tide of public opinion, advocate the surge, support the surge, and, because of that today, America’s troops are coming home, thousands of them, and they’re coming home in honor.”

“So, tonight, I want to ask you, whether you are an independent, a Reagan Democrat, a Clinton Democrat, or just a plain-old Democrat, this year, when you vote for president, vote for the person you believe is best for our country, not for the party you happen to belong to.”

This was no mistake on Emanuel’s part. Rahm Emanuel has a long history of militarist ideology behind him. His father was a member of the ultra-right-wing terrorist organization Etzel that killed British civilians as part of their anti-British struggle in Palestine in the 1940s. Emanuel, himself a citizen of Israel as well as the United States, has been one of several Congressional leaders enforcing the “Israel Lobby” concensus on the Democrats, in the process shutting out the peace voices that believe Israel’s security would be better served by the U.S. putting pressure on Israel to end the Occupation, move the Wall to inside the pre-67 boundaries, and remove the settlers from the West Bank or tell them to live there as Palestinian citizens.

This a man (Lieberman) who used the support and the campaigning of then Sen. Obama who btw is now (say it with me) the “Next President of the United States” to win over some crucial Black votes in his I Lieberman CT campaign against Mr. Ned Lamont. He also said that he would get to the bottom and hold hearings on the Bush administrations lack of response to Hurricane Katrina, and issue with those same voters. Well a funny thing happened, first he won, then he decided that we dont need no stinking hearings, lets all get past Hurricane Katrina.

So why let a man chair a committee that he doesnt sit at and use? Why let a man who thinks its a good question to call “The Next President Of The United States” Mr. Obama, a Socialist? Why keep man on your side who sat back and let his “friends” say a vote for “The Next President Of The United States” Mr. Obama, means the death of Israel? WHY?

Had the results been different would we be having this conversation of reconciliation with Mr. Lieberman, or would he be basking in his self-absorbtion of piousness?

You all know the answer to that.

I dont believe in kicking a man when he’s down, but when the mans thats down is the one who started the fight and had his friends there to back him up, it’s only fair or karma. Pick one.

Stop defending the indefensible. President Obama no doubt has his own feelings and will weigh in accordingly, but believe me this man is not sorry for what he has done, he’s just sorry he lost……………..PERIOD!!!

To the curb with all the “old money” in the government — or at least those unwilling to change and move forward. We need some new blood in the government. Time for changes, and we the people expect to see changes.

Obama does not, contrary to the reichwingnut perception, have a free ride. We put him in place, and, when his time comes, we expect him to deliver (with reasonable expectations, seeing as how the republicans have singlehandedly almost destroyed this country).

It’s fine if Joe liked McCain and stood by his friend, but in the process Joe showed us that he is far more like a Republican in his actions. This cannot be tolerated and it should be done very publicly.

Yes. Of course, the republican strategy will be to scream and whine about the revenge and abuse of power (ad nauseum) at every move. Brace yourselves, its going to be a bumpy ride, and the rpugs will spin their little hearts out from now until we can finally put the headstone on their grave. I am feeling a LOT less secure in our current situation where global opinion runs a lot more against us than in our favor, where Al Qaeda is managing to use our foreign policy as their greatest recruiting tool, and where so many of our National Guard (you know, the men and women who are supposed to protect us here at home) are deployed to fight senseless wars elsewhere. “National security” is not synonymous with “bullying the rest of the world in order to steal their resources and impose our way of life on them”.

  81. motorfingaz says:

Now we know why Obama didn’t chose Bayh for VP!!!

  82. BrianFL says:

This is like urging a post-op transsexual to remain a man after the transformation surgery has already been performed.

Traitor Joe is already a Republican, and has been for some years now. There is no turning back.

  83. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

    CageyCretin Says:
Here’s the spin: Lieberman is striped of his chairmanship, the republicans take him in (with no explanation as to why he can’t remain independant), and the republicans point out how ‘revenge-minded” the nasty mean-spirited, petty minded democrats have become. Limpballs, CULTer, etc. all jump on the theme and ride it for all its worth.

I really don’t care what the right says and I think all the people who have Obama’s back don’t care either. If we don’t show that there are consequences for bad actions, we will become as bad as the Conservatives are.

  84. livelongandprosper says:

    CageyCretin Says:

    livelongandprosper Says:
The Democratic Party does not have to be mean spirited and spiteful like the Republicans, they just have to be honest with themselves and the country. If that means ejecting the mole or prosecuting the misdeeds of the last 8 years, then so be it.

Yes. Of course, the republican strategy will be to scream and whine about the revenge and abuse of power (ad nauseum) at every move. Brace yourselves, its going to be a bumpy ride, and the rpugs will spin their little hearts out from now until we can finally put the headstone on their grave. The “demonize your opponent” tactic will remain firmly in place.

Your right CageyCretin. The Repulican’s are still bullies – that probably won’t ever change. I can listen to them spin and spin as long as they aren’t in charge. Politically, President Elect Obama and the Democrat’s would be best served to get the messy shit over with ASAP. They cannot let bygones be bygones and they cannot let it spill over into the next election cycle.

  85. texasbob says:

Here’s a suggestion as to how to move forward. Since Lying Joe’s an Independent, if he wants to become a Dem again let him come in as a new freshman Dem senator. Maybe even the seniormost of the freshman class. But for crying out loud, the schmuck said that if the Dems got 60 seats the world would end. And he sat on his committee and effectively killed it during Bush’s last two years. Letting him start over at the beginning is a very generous offer to the jerk.

I heartily second the motion to have Bayh taken out back and beaten with a birch rod until he stops screaming inanities.

  86. tarazan says:

Lieberman has been forgiven many times…but he always becomes uglier when he is forgiven.

I say just ignore him ’till next elections in Connecticut arrives.

Democrats owe Lieberman nothing. He is the one who owes Democrats a lot.

I say to Democrats, don’t trust this snake in your pockets.

Bayh is another war monger who is in bed with Necocons.

  87. DvlsAdvocat says:

To hell with Lieberman, he lied to his constituents to get reelected, promising them he had learned the error of his ways, then pulls out the long knives in the presidential campaign. if he wants to caucus with Repubs, let him. His ass is out next cycle.

  88. SP Biloxi says:

“Bayh: Democrats ‘Should Have a Spirit Of Forgiveness With Regard To Joe Lieberman’”

I don’t think so, Bayh. What if McCain was the elected President and not Obama? Would Bayh be so “forgiven” to Zelllieberman? I think not. Zellieberman’s chairmanship needs to be stripped.

  89. thomthum says:

Yes “forgive and forget” right? I say forgive him…and forget him…totally.

  90. Namtillaku says:

NO WAY. First off, the people in Connecticut should be ashamed that they voted for this ‘person’. Lieberman has done nothing but support extreme right-wing ideology, which was repudiated in this last election. If Reid does leave him a chair of the committee, it will confirm Reid’s lack of backbone. Now is the time to rid ourselves of reptiles such as Lieberman.

  91. mongo says:

We’re fighting 2 wars; I doubt *anyone* in Obama’s government wouldn’t be “strong on national security”.

And just because you need someone strong on national security doesn’t mean you implicitly reward an individual who was explicitly selling out “his” caucus in the hopes of getting a plum job in the palin-mclame administration.

He backed the wrong horse in a very public and spectacularly disingenuous fashion.

lieberschmuck at the gop convention reminded me of Kent Brockman:

“And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.”

  92. tarazan says:

In a very crucial election, Lieberman was invloved in a very ugly campaign to discredit Obama ,and Democrats for months.

    Why should Democrats forgive him?

Mr. Bayh: You are out of your mind.!

  93. pdennany says:

I would hope that Lieberman will invite Byah to join him in his return to his homeland in Israel. Byah is making a bundle as a result the criminal US wars in the Middle East.

  94. tom says:

From where I sit, this matter has little to do with Lieberman’s disgusting display of affection for McNumbNuts during this election cycle.

It has everything to do with his dismal performance as chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs for the last two years.

This is a key Senate committee charged with oversight of the Executive Branch and assuring accountability in the administration of this important area of national security. He decided not to pursue any accusations of wrongdoing against the Bush administration.

Lieberman’s House counterpart — Rep. Henry Waxman’s Oversight Committee — was a vigilant watchdog, holding hearings, issuing subpoenas, and launching multiple investigations. Lieberman preferred to let his committee do no real work at all. It was arguably the most pathetic display of this Congress.

Lieberman should be relieved of this committee chairmanship for no reason other than his sheer incompetence and lack of initiative in discharging his duties in that capacity. Reid has the right — indeed, the responsibility — to replace him with someone who will take the role seriously . . . no matter how much Deputy Dawg whines.

  95. misshusseinmolly says:

Imagine an independent Senator who had been a long-time Republican, and who still chose to caucus with the Republicans, but who had jumped ship and campaigned hard for Obama, toured with Obama, spoke at the DNC, and was even rumored to be on the short list as Obama’s veep pick.

How would the Republicans feel about this guy? My guess is that if they needed him to make 51 in the Senate, they’d tolerate him. But if they didn’t, they’d strip him of any committee chairmanship he had, and possibly even kick him out of the GOP caucus.

I can’t imagine the Repubs embracing him and saying “let bygones be bygones”.

  96. wolfsinger says:

    Senator Evan Bayh

Call. Be Polite! Those who answer his phone are very pleasant. They listen and don’t rush you.

    Joe Must Go!

  97. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre says:

Joe L. the Zionist and Evan B. the Apologist. Heck of a team, you got there, Evan. Go away.

  98. stedew says:

Joe is toast regardless. Bayh is taking some hits for this, but one hopes Joe will remember it in the next couple years – when he has few friends left. Why give Lieberman a reason to be (more)difficult for the rest of his last term. I think of this as a bi-partisan move, of sorts, which also helps contridict the current republican narrative about Bayh. Bayh seems to be giving Joe an opprotunity to play nice – a vote is a vote after all – and defining his role in the next administration.

  99. CageyCretin says:

No free rides! Liebernman has already proven to be a castrated politician who serves the republicans, claiming to be independent, and nuzzling up to whichever party at the moment seems to have something to offer him. He represents one of the kinds of politicians that we need to oust from our government.

  100. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

If you want to tell Byah what you think of this go to:

    http://bayh.senate.gov/contact/email/

Make up an address then use Indianapolis 46204 and enter a 317 area code for telephone ad you will get past their filter.

  101. Shayne says:

From the bile spewing at Rahm Emanuel by so called progressives you’d think Obama had picked him as VP or SOS. The man isn’t even close to taking office and you’re already characterizing his first pick as his ruination. If you people had any interpersonal relationships you’d know to pick your battles.

  102. Shayne says:

The Democrats need to give him the boot so that when he runs in two years he has no leverage.

  103. the brown acid says:

SHOW BOTH OF THESE F*&@CKING IDIOTS THE DOOR DEMOCRATS.

  104. lurker says:

Bayh said Lieberman may have “perhaps crossed the line” in questioning Obama’s patriotism.

Perhaps?? He did cross the line and is nothing more than
a republican mole. He should go away.

  105. Bozo The Neoclown says:

yes, because we ALL know how forgiving waahhhpublicans were of Bill Clinton.

  106. Marie says:

Screw Joe Lieberman (and you, too, Birch Bayh) for even suggesting it. After all the traitorous words and deeds of Joe LIEberman, he deserves to lose his chairmanship. He should consider himself lucky that he is even allowed in the ranks of Senate Democrats.
Petulant Joe, however, has aides saying that if he loses his chairmanship, he will not caucus with Dems.
Watch that door, Joe — don’t let it hit ya where the good lord split ya.

  107. dasm says:

Any politician who questions the patriotism of other politicians, particularly a presidential candidate, with no basis whatsoever for such a comment other than to smear someone, should be tossed out completely.

  108. EugeneDebs says:

I think Dems should have a spirit of lets kick the wrinkly self righteous bastard in the balls and show him the door with Joe Lieberman.

  109. impeachcheneythenbush says:

Watch that door, Joe — don’t let it hit ya where the good lord split ya.

Which would only prove the man has absolutely no real principles, and only caucused with the Dems from the beginning because of politics. This cycle isn’t the first time the guy was willing to betray his fellow Democrats. Check this out:

In February 2007, Lieberman spoke before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in support of the confirmation of Sam Fox as ambassador to Belgium. Fox, a prominent Republican businessman and political donor, was a contributor to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign in 2004.[135] Fox is also reported to have donated to Lieberman’s 2006 Senate campaign.[136]

Time for Holy Joe to pay the price of disloyalty. Throw his sorry ass under the bus. Then back up and run over him again.

  111. Abu Ben Hussein Leporello says:

    To quote from Iris Dement,
“’cause God may forgive you, but I won’t
Yes, Jesus loves you, but I don’t
They don’t have to live with you and neither do I
You say that you’re born again, well so am I
God may forgive you, but I won’t
    and I won’t even try.”
This is a nation of Freedoms. In the end there is the final Freedom, the Freedom to Face the Consequences.
    Impeach, while There’s Still Time!

  112. southrnbelle says:

    NO WE DON’T!!!!!!!!

  113. Heynow says:

Lieberman is a piece of shit… Traitor, two faced piece of crap.

  114. pbg says:

You don’t forgive behavior that’s still going on.

  115. Marie says:

    #111, impeach,
I did not know that — thanks.
The man is a weasel — a two-faced deceptive weasel.

  116. abarts says:

LIEberman has been given enough chances. Goodbye, Joe.

  117. Brain From Planet Arous says:

    00mpp00 Says:

This is a shocking pander to the Israeli lobby and Republicans. Lieberman should have no problem with Obama considering they’re so similar ideologically..

Agreed. Lieberman and Rahm Ezekiel (Emanuel) should just simply move to Israel. It is also true that Obama and Lieberman are similar. Looking at their voting records, they go along with the War/Surveillance/Extortion Party at almost every issue.

Keep up the pressure and observation of the new president, since many Democrats will let him get away with his pro-corporate and pro-Israeli direction. In 6 months, we all will see what direction Obama goes.

  118. MusicLover says:

    APOLOGIZE?????? APOLOGIZE???????

  119. MusicLover says:

APOLOGIZE??? Lieberman threw the Democratic Party nominee for President of the United States under the bus, then drove back and forth over him for several months, slamming the nominee and the party repeatedly in the process, and Evan Bayh thinks he should APOLOGIZE and turn the page?

This isn’t about an inappropriate vote in a committee meeting, or even a faux pas. This is about a Senator who did everything he could to sabotage the Democratic Party during a national election.

I can’t believe this is even up for discussion. Why in the name of God would you want a known turncoat privy to the caucus discussions? Does Bayh actually TRUST him? Does anybody think he won’t be doing the exact same thing in 2012? Then again, maybe Obama will nuke Iran to get on Joe’s good side…NOT.

    What a freaking idiot.

  120. dfwdraco76 says:

Remove him from his chairmanship AND forgive him. The new administration will sacrifice too much time to battle every bogus investigation Lieberman wants to spearhead. Take no chances with him.

If Lieberman has to THREATEN people to keep his position, he doesn’t deserve it.

  121. ariuszme says:

Such ignorance abounds in the United States.

Bayh happens to be right. Lieberman followed his heart and put country ahead of party. Many liberals did not approve of or vote for the fraud known as Obama.

FYI, the Dems did not get the 60 seats they needed to avoid a filibuster. They need Lieberman.

Joe will be given a lesser role than the powerful position he has now, whatever it is, they’ll come to an agreement on it.

As for the mention above of a “caucus” vote to solve the issue, maybe they can corrupt and manipulate that outcome just as they did the primaries that handed the no resume, no qualifications unvetted Obama the nomination and stole it from the person who had the majority of actual votes.

As for the poster half way up the page who dares to refer to anyone as being stupid, you, as others, show yourself as foolish when you can’t even correctly spell words such as “lying” instead of the 3rd grade incompetence you post with “lieing”.

  122. republicanSScareme says:

I don’t know how much money AIPAC is giving Senator Bayh, but I’m sure it’s proportional to the size of his forgiveness.

Good Christians are to admired for their forgiveness of campaign contributors.

Is it possible to kick someone out of th Democratic Party?

  123. Jubbly says:

…we’re going to prove that there is a place for Democrats who are strong on national security…

The Nineties called, they want their Republican talking point back.

  124. k says:

that’s adorable…at the end of the day they’re all just really good friends…so come on everybody! let’s leave the fear-mongering AIPAC check cashing traitor alone!

  125. Yankeluh says:

…and we wonder why Republicans kick our ass all the time.

  126. DallasNE says:

In post #14 I proposed giving Lieberman a lesser Committee Chairmanship. According to CNN, this is exactly what is being considered.
