In the New York Times this morning, a Bush friend states the President has come to terms with Barack Obama’s victory because he’s “a realist”:
“President Bush is a realist,” said this friend, who spoke anonymously to disclose his private conversation with the president. “He has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on. The people have spoken.”
That assessment doesn’t quite square with reality. Bush’s disregard for the American people was evident in 2006, when he stubbornly argued, “We’re not leaving [Iraq] so long as I’m the president.” He has said he would veto bills just to “ensure that I am relevant.” And he has not been shy about boasting of his power, calling himself “commander guy” and “the decider.”
Let’s not argue this point. Time to move on.
November 10th, 2008 at 12:58 pmFor me, he’ll always be the President who had a male hooker lob softball questions to him at press conferences.

November 10th, 2008 at 12:59 pmFace it. Bush is a dipshit who had no business rising above the ranks of a failed oil “decider” in West Texas. Unfortunately the gullibility of the American public provided us with 8 years of this moron. Now in 72 days our long national nightmare will be over. Certainly there will be thousands of attempts to justify the Chimp and all of his misdeeds as being something good for the nation. You and I know that is pure horse hockey and maybe in a couple years, just like Caribou Barbie, Chimpy will slide into oblivion and only the most masochistic among us will even think of him any longer.
November 10th, 2008 at 12:59 pmHe better be right. If Obama doesn’t agree to pardon Bush then the problem will be bigger and Bush might have to pardon himself. No matter the United Natiions will charge the Bush Administration with War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity and Daddy Bush can’t help his baby son George W. this time. Yes he got him out of serving in the Military, yes he got the Saudi’s to forget his debt with failed businesses and then Daddy paid for his college degree but this time Russia, China and the Middle East can’t be paid off by the Bush Family.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:02 pmFor George Bush, “coming to grips” translates into “blissfully ignoring”, and “moving on” is equal to “giving a damn”.
It’s like Mr. Bean. Only not as funny.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:03 pm“President Bush is a realist,” said this friend, who spoke anonymously to disclose his private conversation with the president. “He has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on. The people have spoken.”
Okay, by “coming to grips” this anonymous friend probably meant something more like “pretending it doesn’t exist” but what’s the big deal? He’s “moving on”. That’s the important thing.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:06 pmalphainfinityomega Says:
“Bush has friends ??”
Yes and apparently they prefer to remain anonymous.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:06 pmIt doesn’t really matter at this point whether Bush is a realist or not. He’s no longer relevant, and while he is still technically the POTUS, he’s the lamest of lame ducks.
Regardless of what Bush thinks, he’s gone on January 20. All that will remain of him will be his joke of a Presidential Library, which will be a monument to his being anything BUT a realist.
But this little item does show that Dubya still has people who are willing to spin for him, which is something, I suppose.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:07 pmOh forget about him. Pardon him for wrongdoings and make clear to anyone who would come after him that they will not get a former US president. It sets a bad standard. Trust me, we want this guy around for a long, long time to remind everyone what happens when you let conservative values rule over competency. He’s going to need to live a long time to see how he will go down in history. The longer the better.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:08 pmFace reality? This from the administration whose attitude was this? “We’re an empire now, we create our own reality.”
November 10th, 2008 at 1:08 pmIf you create your own reality, then, of course, you’re a realist.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:11 pmAs The Drunken Nazi Chimp looks in the mirror does he face the cold harsh reality that he comes from Crime Family?
As The Drunken Nazi Chimp stares at his War Criminal Face in the mirrordoes he see a man who stole 2 elections?
As the The Drunken Nazi Chimp stares at his Crime-ridden Face does he see man that created a false war on terror?
As the The Drunken Nazi Chimp looks at his reflection does he a face of a man that has sent this country on a reckless path?
(spiritually, foreign policy, economically etc.)
How does this man sleep at night?
November 10th, 2008 at 1:12 pmA lot of bourbon, I surmise.

(sorry, I just wanted to fix my mistakes)
November 10th, 2008 at 1:16 pmOh, I get it. Bush is a “realist” not a realist…
Unfortunately, the difference has been made very clear over the years…
Bringing up the word “realist” in a conversation shows how out of touch he really is. You can’t make this stuff up…
November 10th, 2008 at 1:19 pm“President Bush is a realist,” said this friend, who spoke anonymously to disclose his private conversation with the president. “He has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on. The people have spoken.”
Translation = He really just doesn’t give a shit
November 10th, 2008 at 1:19 pmI wish I could share your opinion that Chimpy is the “lamest of lame ducks”, misshuseinmolly. Other than the lame-brain context. I’m really concerned about what they can eff up in their final splurge. The systematic assault on environmental laws is particularly disturbing.
Between approving anything someone can convince him will improve his legacy, and his own nature, I think that there will be countless hidden crises left by the lame duck in chief.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:20 pmAlong with his anonymous friends he has imaginary ones.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:20 pmBush friend says the President “has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on.”
Yeah, alcoholics have denial down pat.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:23 pmHe has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on.

Q U E S T I O N:
Do we live in the type of society that says to the victim of the auto accident that took the life of their passenger, “Well, let’s move on and not review and look back on the matter”?
“MOVING ON” requires learning from the mistakes that were made and paying the appropriate consequences for poor decisions and actions made. Any failure to do so is a failure to prevent further actions and mistakes AND a tacit permissiveness that says to the public at large that similar actions and mistakes ARE permissible because they bear no consequences.
Only once the ticket is issued, the arraignment is made and bail is set, can the perpetrator of the vehicular homicide face the public and say, “NOW, it is time to move on.”
In Bush’s case, what’s a lie that costs close to a million lives? What’s a lie that costs the lives of 4193 US Servicemen and women their lives? What’s a lie that costs when it costs a Constitutional deterioration?
Just move on?
I fear we are moving into the era of excusing poor behavior, crappy decisions and deadly blunders on the defense, “But your honor, other people kill, too.” You know, where you CAN do really awful things and point to other people’s awful behavior as the reason you did it too.
.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:34 pmHe can come to grips with moving on to a Jail Cell.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:35 pmburn in hell dipshit.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:35 pmStrange, I’ve heard that Shrub has a penchant for “Pay Back”
November 10th, 2008 at 1:41 pmThat’s called having no conscience, one trait common among dictators and serial killers.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:44 pmi love the term “commander guy”, also “the decider”.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:45 pmAs The Drunken Nazi Chimp looks in the mirror does he face the cold harsh reality that he continually stomped on the Constitution and The Bill of Rights.(thus, eliminating the original checks and balances in which this country was founded upon)
As The Drunken Nazi Chimp stares at his War Criminal Face in the mirror does he see a man allowed his Wall Street Banker Crooked Cronies to Steal from the Country and drives the economy to ruin daily
As the The Drunken Nazi Chimp stares at his Crime-ridden Face does he see man that created a false-flag event on 9/11/01 setting in motiion a reckless foreign policy and creating a Military Economy and Gutting the Civilian Economy.
How does this man sleep at night?
November 10th, 2008 at 1:45 pmA lot of Booze, I surmise.
January 20, 2009 can’t come soon enough.
November 10th, 2008 at 1:57 pmBush has a way of moving things that benefit his high dollar friends. He does so with a firm grip on the taxpayer’s wallet.
November 10th, 2008 at 2:11 pmBush has a friend?
November 10th, 2008 at 2:15 pmWhen Bush was in his father’s administration he had the well-earned reputation for being the “enforcer.” Anyone got out of line, GW shoved them back in, or got out the hammer.
Bush is mean spirited and vindictive. (Why do you think we’re in Iraq?) He may not do anything overtly, but you better believe he’ll do whatever he can to sabotage Obama and the Dems behind the scenes. And he won’t leave any fingerprints.
Everybody, watch you backs!
November 10th, 2008 at 2:16 pmBush friend says the President ‘has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on.’
November 10th, 2008 at 2:17 pmThe problem is to be left with the mess and destruction left behind this WAR CRIMINAL after he ‘moves on’…
One of the things that I have noticed about Republicans, and very rich Republicans in particular, is their mastery at saying things that sound good but mean, at best, nothing, or upon further logical examination are actually bad ideas. They sound good on the surface but they’re actually deceiving and very stupid. And harmful. Normal people might call this type of person a “con-man”.
Let’s examine this statement, presented as a great philosophical approach practiced by our dear President. To wit:
“He has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on. The people have spoken.”
Translated into English, this means “I make quick decisions and forget about them. I don’t waste time thinking about too much about anything. For one thing, it ’s a lot of work. Two, my IQ is 67. Too much thinking hurts my brain. The more information I get, the more confused I get. Besides, I’ve got a four-some waiting on the front nine.”
But, the way they say it, they want it to sound like we’ve got a great President who makes “the hard calls and sticks to his principles.” It’s funny how the right description can make something bad sound good.
Sorry, Mr. President, but there are some people out here who actually paid attention when we went to school. bon Voyage!
November 10th, 2008 at 2:21 pm“He has a knack of coming to grips with a problem, not solving it, and them moving on.”
November 10th, 2008 at 2:22 pmThere. Fixed.
OT
I love how uncomfortable Laura and the Chymp look with Obama and Michelle. You can just see it. The Bushies are thinking:
“Crap. wish John and Sarah were. Smile”
November 10th, 2008 at 2:25 pmre: 38
November 10th, 2008 at 2:26 pmToday at the White House
oops. #38
“Crap. wish John and Sarah were here.”
November 10th, 2008 at 2:29 pmI was ready to move on 4 years ago from a Bush administration.
November 10th, 2008 at 2:34 pm“He has a way of coming to grips with things and moving on. The people have spoken.”
I disagree: He has a way of causing catastrophic circumstances and passing them on.
I agree: The people have spoken.
November 10th, 2008 at 2:40 pmThe only way Bush is a “realist” is because he looks at reality in an alternative universe or something. Best example I can think of right of hand: “You’re doing a heck of a job, Brownie.”
November 10th, 2008 at 3:07 pm” And he has not been shy about boasting of his power, calling himself “commander guy” and “the decider.”
And there was a little incident reported a few years ago, where, in a White House meeting, he beat his chest and shouted “I am the president”.
November 10th, 2008 at 3:30 pmThese -> He has said he would veto bills just to “ensure that I am relevant.” And he has not been shy about boasting of his power, calling himself “commander guy” and “the decider.”<- are truely the comments of a spoiled brat. It is no wonder his presidency was such a mess. WTH were they thinking when they elected him.
So glad is this just about at the end…….truely a reign of terror
November 10th, 2008 at 3:57 pmTry the barstid for war crimes, I say. Hang him and bury his sorry corpse next to Saddam Hussein’s.
November 10th, 2008 at 4:21 pmI think one of the most revealing things President Bush has said about how he regards his job and the American people was in an interview with Matt Lauer, in the run-up to the 2004 election. Bush was campaigning in Ohio
Lauer asked if he thought the people of Ohio were better off than they were four years ago.
Bush smugly responded that 51% of them probably think so.
I don’t know if he was referencing some Ohio poll that had him at 51, or if he was just explaining all that mattered to him was that more than half of Ohioans were happy.
That is the aggressively mediocre outlook of a guy who is happy to just get a passing grade.
November 10th, 2008 at 4:58 pmLeftside; I would prefer that Bushitler be executed for his war crimes, cremated, then scatter the ashes. Don’t let his grave become a neocon Nazi shrine.
November 10th, 2008 at 5:01 pmA way of coming to grips and moving on? Johnny Walker.
November 10th, 2008 at 5:22 pmHe’s right. Bush has a way of coming to grips with his mind-bending disasters, walking away and letting others clean up the mess. Here’s your mop and bucket, repubs; don’t say you weren’t warned…
November 10th, 2008 at 9:19 pmIf there’s any justice, he’ll be “gripping” prison bars.
