Judge rules against Bush administration in White House email case.

U.S. District Court Judge Henry Kennedy ruled today that two private groups — CREW and the National Security Archive — may continue to pursue their case against the Bush White House to recover millions of possibly missing electronic messages. “The Bush administration had argued that the courts did not have the power to order the White House to retrieve any missing e-mails.”

Update “This is a major victory for the public interest in accountability at the White House,” added Archive General Counsel Meredith Fuchs. “Through this lawsuit we have preserved over 65,000 computer backup tapes. This decision means those tapes will survive the end of the Bush Administration so that Congress, the courts, and eventually the public will be able to learn about the decision-making that took place over the last 8 years.”

Go for it, time to take them down…

The courts – our courts – don’t have the ‘authority’ to retrieve the emails – our emails? WTF!

You all know that we are not allowed to discover which banks got our $1 trillion bucks too, right? How can Bush and Co. bankrupt the treasury without the taxpayers (the bosses) even knowing who took the money? Exactly which planet do I live on?

GOOD! That’s a lot of info to sift through. How many people are just a little nervous now? And can you imagine how much has already been forever lost?

    overheard in Oval Office today-

Bush: Get me Rose Mary Woods ASAP! What do mean, she’s dead? I don’t care. Cheney doesn’t have a soul and that doesn’t stop him.

Like they haven’t dissapeared most of the incriminating stuff away long ago. They had Homeland Security at their disposal.

Here’s my chance to put in a Plug for this weeks Frontline, on PBS. It’s all about Lee Atwater, who taught Karl Rove how to Win Elections.

Ronald Reagan sold Weapons to Terrorists ( Iran) and then LIED About it to the American People. There were a few minor convictions in the Iran Contra Scandal…but MOST of it got Swept under the Rug. And the Fact that Reagan’s VP , George Bush Sr. was elected to succeed him had a lot to do with this SWEEPING.

After the 1988 Democratic Convention , Gov. Dukakis enjoyed a 15 point lead in the polls…yet by election day….he lost to Bush Sr. WHY???

Lee Atwater, Willie Horton, and a goofy Picure of Dukakis riding around in a Tank.

I’m looking forward to watching this week’s Frontline.

Cheney and company have been destroying evidence for a couple of years now.

Hopefully there will be something left there to throw these WAR CRIMINALS in jail for life….many want the death penalty for them, but I don’t believe executing anyone solves anything, let them suffer in prison for life…and paint their cells lime green and bright day-glow pink.

18 missing minutes sunk nixon…….just because they are gone doesn’t make them less relevant. A good IT could get them all back.

It’s also probably a moot question since it looks like Obama is going to be playing the “conciliator” rather than holding these people responsible for their actions. I have to say I will be sorely disappointed in him if he does that.

  12. Badger says:

Wouldn’t it be Ironic, If Obama’s Attorney General used the NSA spy technology to get the Goods on Bush and Cheney.

In February, a former White House computer expert told Congress that the White House had no complete inventory of e-mail files, that there was no automatic system to ensure that e-mail was archived and preserved, and that until mid-2005 the e-mail system had serious security flaws.

And here we have one more example of the incredible incompetency of this administration. In addition, they also violated, big time, the Federal Records Act. Thank you Judge Kennedy! Big slap down of the administration claiming the court had no power to force the White House to adhere to the law. Man, I’ll tell you I’m really nervous, and wondering if this administration will actually vacate when it’s their legal time, or if the Administration is going to declare some kind of national emergency that necessitates martial law and the postponment/suspension of the transition to the new administration. I don’t breath easy until the afternoon of Jan. 20th.

The ruling allows the lawsuit on e-mail recovery and archiving to go on. The suit still needs to be heard.

The Bush administration has had a running start at this . Assuming there are some records left to preserve , perhaps we will finally get to know what happened during the lead up to the Iraq war , the Valerie Plame affair and the attorney firing scandal . A laundry list of criminal offences comes to mind !
May this ruling help to hang the Bush crime family and friends out to dry .

  18. freeman says:

Impeach , I’m with you , this is FAR from over !

  19. freeman says:

    Bilbo # 11 , agreed !
We will have to wait and see if Obama is really anything more than a smiley face put on the same policies .The appointment of Rahm Emmanuel (?)and his waffling on FISA are not good signs in this regard .
    Here’s hoping I’m wrong .

  20. stateofthedivision says:

Dates of missing e-mails include the Bush administration’s woeful response to Hurricane Katrina.

  21. DNFP says:

Even if the new Dem majority turns it’s back on he Shrub illegalities, hopefully bringing them to light will further diminish the Dumbya’s attempt at any positive “legacy”.

  22. k says:

Big thanks to CREW & the National Security Archive:)

  23. CaptainJohn says:

to bad the hard drives that may contain the accidentally missing e-mails will be accidentally beaten flat with accidental bricks
