There is nothing in the First Amendment which prevents the Government from requiring a licensee to share his frequency with others and to conduct himself as a proxy or fiduciary with obligations to present those views and voices which are representative of his community and which would otherwise, by necessity, be barred from the airwaves.

There is NO “public” obligation that the FCC forces on private broadcasters. They pay their taxes to use the airwaves and that should be the limit of their “obligation” to the public.

And YES the FCC says DIRECTLY that there is a public service obligation that comes along with the license. It is very clear that the ONLY right you are concerned with is the RIGHT of corporations to MAKE MONEY. The right of ownership of the airwaves means nothing to you. For you ignorant wingnuts the right to make money trumps all other rights. Well that is YOUR delusions. We DO have a right in the say in how OUR RESOURCE IS USED.

It was also particularly STUPID of you to say we sold the airwaves that NEVER happend they BELONG to us now. The deal we made was they can use our resource to make their money but they have an obligation to operate their shows in a way that performs a public service and if they DONT their license does NOT have to be renewed. Your money is GOD philosophy is pathetic. It might seem socialist to YOU that since WE own the airwaves we ought to have a say in how they are used but to me it just seems like ownership rights. The number of people who still believe in George W. That is just stupid. There is NO FREE SPEECH ISSUE involved in the fairness doctrine. The Supreme Court has already ruled on this. Read the Red Lion decision and stop parading your ignorance. WE OWN THE AIRWAVES. There is supposed to be a public service obligation for those who make obscene buttloads of cash OFF OF OUR RESOURCE. It is a democratic decision how that works. All those who seek licenses know of the obligation if they dont LIKE it they can go into the dry cleaning business.
