Brolin: Bush liked the movie ‘W.’

The White House has been tight-lipped about its response to Oliver Stone’s movie “W.” and has generally refused to comment on it. When ABC News offered 25 loyal Bushies the chance to screen the film, all except Scott McClellan declined. But actor Josh Brolin, who portrayed the President in the film, said that Bush actually saw the film and enjoyed it:

w_ver3.jpgI heard recently that Bush saw the movie and liked it very much,” the 40-year-old actor told CNN during a media event last Sunday for the upcoming drama “Milk.” Brolin stars as Dan White, who shot and killed openly gay San Francisco city supervisor Harvey Milk (played by Sean Penn) and Mayor George Moscone in 1978. [...]

Karl Rove slammed the movie, and Bush liked the movie, go figure,” Brolin said.

Must be nice having all that free time to go watch movies and maintain your distraction from reality…

  2. Fred says:

haven’t seen it, is it a cartoon?

  3. ralph the wonder llama says:

Excuse me, but I’ll take Josh Brolin’s word that he “heard recently that Bush saw the movie and liked it” as something less than definitive.

  4. tokin librul says:

I prefer my bio-pics to have already-deceased people as their subjects…so i’ll wait to see it, in a couple of years, mebbe

    but mebbe that’s just me…

  5. Buckie Boy says:

Well a sick perverse side of me wanted to see it, but, well, I have had entirely enough of “W” the War Criminal.

Funny thing though, on November 5th I quit drinking altogether, go figure.

  6. Uncle Ho says:

If the chimperor liked it, then it’s a REALLY BAD flick.

  7. freeman says:

I’m sure it’s very entertaining but if you want to see a decent look back as W’s tenure as our president perhaps looking at parents in Iraq picking thru piles of the dead for their children’s body parts taken by say Robert Fisk would be a bit more revealing and accurate portrayal of his influence on world affairs ?

  8. freeman says:

Misery is not meant to be entertaining !

  9. Nevar says:

    (Brolin) ““I heard recently etc….”

In my experience, this is code for spinning a yarn

It may well be that Dufous has actually seen the movie, and that he does like it. At this point any attention he can get, good or bad, is desirable. I’m certain his most terrifying nightmare is to be forgotten. We’ll watch him grovel, apologize, whine, plead, kick himself around, anything to get attention. Now he’s the bad little boy who wants forgiveness…
“Just don’t leave me alone, pleeeeeeeze?”

I saw “W” and found it very boring. I went to it with an open mind but soon realized that I wanted it to be over way before it was, just like Bush’s presidency. Anyone who knows who Bush really is will find the movie pathetic and poorly written. It makes no attempt to capture the viciousness and arrogance of the Bush family. It’s all Oedipal, all the time.
On another site I wrote that it’s Stone’s worst movie. Somebody responded that I must not have seen “Alexander.” I haven’t, and won’t.

  11. Jackie says:

Bush stays high and drunk so much these days he doen’t even know the Movie was about him.

  12. EnnuiDivine says:

    W. couldn’t compare to Nixon, but it was a strong film nonetheless.

Have to watch it a few more times to truly appreciate it, though.

  13. ElBruce says:

Maybe he watched it with the volume turned off.

Or maybe he just thought it was “awesome” that somebody made a movie about him at all.

  14. xenon says:

If Stone had any stones at all, he would have produced a feature about the puppet master, rather than the puppet.

I think we all know who that is…

  15. Leftside Annie says:

So *very* happy to hear that Deciderguy liked it….

    /snark

  16. Great Frybread King says:

The Chimp-in-Chief is a narcissist. So he probably liked that there was a movie made about him and not the movie itself.

  17. DaTruth says:

A criminal that gets away with murder and deceit deserves execution but instead gets a ‘tribute’ in the big screen. Of course he likes it! Death to the liar idiot!

  18. Ivy9 says:

So he liked all the pretty pictures?

  19. sacopenapa says:

…one more reason not to see it!

  20. Dutch says:

I do not follow politics, and know very little about the subject. So i found the Movie Entertaining, I understand there is a lot of inaccuracies, that is what made it
interesting. But the accuracies explain ALOT!!
I’m very glad I watched it just to see how F-ed up politics are, which will interest me more from this day forth. I typically watch films more than once…I hope years down the road I come across this movie in the “comedy” section at blockbuster!!
If only we knew then what we know NOW!!
