Palin left out of RGA leadership.

By Ben Armbruster on Nov 14th, 2008 at 1:25 pm

Palin left out of RGA leadership.

In the wake of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) convention this week in Miami, many GOP governors were reluctant to embrace Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) as the party’s leader or presidential candidate for 2012. Today, the RGA made that sentiment official, by not voting her in to any of the organization’s leadership positions:

palinweb.jpg The Republican Governors Association announced its new leadership lineup today after their annual meeting concluded Thursday in Miami.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford was voted RGA chairman, taking over the top job from Texas Gov. Rick Perry who will now serve as finance chairman. Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is vice-chairman, while Florida Gov. Charlie Crist will serve as chair for the annual RGA gala, and Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue will head up the recruitment effort.

Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas, and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will also sit on the RGA’s executive committee. [...]

Not on the list? Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who also attended the Miami meeting.

Who else will join Failin' Palin under the bus?

When will the media (including TP) stop covering non-news news about this pathetic loser?? Weren't there some suicide bombers in Iraqnam today? Anything other than non stop Caribou Barbie coverage.

I see that good old Piyush "Bobby" Jindal didn't make the cut, either. Hmmmmm. Interesting. Very interesting.

  6. Marie Says:

If they ever hope to resurrect themselves, they had better dump Caribou Barbie - the sooner the better. We are all fed up with her; it looks like her fellow governors are also.

Love the pic! She's obviously praying to God to smite the Repuglycan Governors...! Or invoking some witchcraft to hex them...

Hopefully, this will mark the end of her spotlight and she will GO AWAY!

  14. 5th Estate Says:

Palin described her rejection as "partisan" and =sexist" and as soon as she could appoint a panel of Alaskans to unanimously vote her the new RGA Chairperson she would be vindicated.

  15. johnfyounger Says:

looks to me like the Republican Party is taking care of its business. this affront represents the most effective challenge to Palin's popularity. Somehow I doubt that she is ready to gracefully exit stage right just yet.

This is completely off topic, but your gay friends need your help, especially if you're straight. Tomorrow (Sat) there will be simultaneous demonstrations world-wide to protest basic human rights being stripped from or denied to gays and lesbians. At 1:30 EST, 12:30 CST, 10:30 PST etc., we will be gathering at city halls and state houses in hundreds of cities. If you possibly can, please show up. We can't do this by ourselves. We need our straight allies and all people of good will who believe in equal treatment under the law.
    Thank you.

I imagine a straight talking bus load of self-admiring repubs lounging around discussing who's going to be whom. Sarah gets up and stands on a small throw rug in the aisle near the drivers seat about to pontificate some obscure thought about how she's not going go down without a struggle. The driver looks over his shoulder and with a wink to the good ole boys in the back, presses a button and, the trap door under the throw rug she was standing on opens up and dumps under the front axle. One of them turns to John and says "next"
The GOP lubricates it's bus with the blood of its own and it needs frequent lurication.

  26. misshusseinmolly Says:

The linked article fails to mention whether Palin actively sought any of the leadership positions. It DID mention that several of the other GOP governors thought her presence was an annoying distraction. Palin had as much right to be there as any other Republican governor, of course, but I think the gripe was about the media circus that came with her, and the appearance it gave of her having a leadership role where none existed. It's tough to say whether or not Palin engineered the spectacle in Diana Ross fashion, but it was obvious she wasn't discouraging the spotlight, either.

I believe that Palin was chosen as the veep nominee because she made a nice sparkly figurehead who could parrot GOP talking points on command, not because she had any great vision or great leadership qualities.

Now that the campaign is over, the GOP governors are more interested in functional leadership, rather than flashy but empty spectacle. If Sarah Palin truly knows her capabilities and her limitations, she gets that. If not, this provides a much-needed reality check for her delusions.

And Gov. "Good Hair" Perry (as Molly Ivins used to call him), Haley Barbour, and Sonny Perdue (being the ol' boys in question) don't take kindly to some newcomer from way up north. Especially one who'll steal the spotlight from them. Down south, they expect their women to be seen and not heard... little lady, doncha know?

I'm with Andrew Sullivan on this question:

This deluded and delusional woman still doesn't understand what happened to her; still has no self-awareness; and has never been forced to accept her obvious limitations. She cannot keep even the most trivial story straight; she repeats untruths with a ferocity and calm that is reserved only to the clinically unhinged; she has the educational level of a high school drop-out; and regards ignorance as some kind of achievement. It is excruciating to watch her - but more excruciating to watch those who feel obliged to defend her.

Her candidacy, in short, was indefensible. It remains indefensible. Until the mainstream media, the GOP establishment, and the conservative intelligentsia acknowledge the depth of their error, this blog will keep demanding basic accountability.

  33. Curlew Says:

Regarding the suthen roots of the Repignofascist Party - we can thank Richard "I Am not a crook" Nixon for the suthen strategy and how its come to fruition today. However regarding where the Repignofasist "leadership" comes from today just go look at that NY Times map of the "bluing" of America. The only place where the Repignofascists made any increases voting in 2008 was in the Wal-Mart belt from SW Pennsylvania, through Appalachia to the Okieland and its Senator James Inhofe in Okieland. "nuff said, sho nuff."

Going on the assumption, based from any interview, that Palin's verbal skills are somewhere between piss-poor and WTF, what is her former English teacher at good ol' WHS thinking right about now? Also, with SP's alleged degree in journalism from working her way through any number of colleges.. what exactly did she learn? If I taught journalism at Idaho or ISU (or wherever in God's name she got her degree), I'd be embarrased as hell.

  61. Jackie Says:

What a slap in the face as Palin was their VP selection but now nothing. Looks like Sarah will have to help fix convicted felon Ted's votes as the last chance to say in the game. With all the complaints filed against her as Govenor she might have to go back to work for the oil company and even sell some of those expensive clothes she got from the RNC.

  62. Greytdog Says:

  63. stateofthedivision Says:

Apparently, the Republican Governors Association needed more than a narrative in their leadership positions.

You, yourself made that glaringly apparent to the entire nation. You are just one reason that there was a run on the Republican seats this past election. You are just one of the reasons why Republicans took that title off their websites our of fear or shame. You did not advance your party. You gained no new voters. You served to be divisive and subsequently alienated entire groups of voters. Go join the rest of the losers, soon to be joined by Joe Lieberman, and have yourselves a pity party...although I doubt you'd be welcome.

  86. Free TestKing Says:

Sara's position as a leader of Republican is not much popular among the people these days. she has to work hard to get her image back and known as a leader. I am interested in the topic and will provide more information later. I will try this just after my 70-290 for managing and maintaining a Microsoft windows server 2003 environment about which I am confident to pass in first attempt because I have already pass 70-649 which is for Microsoft certification as well as your page concern I must say that you have done a great job I must return on your page to read you more.
