When the cold war ended 1/2 of the countries economy was sold down the river , the golden goose was cooked . I believe the corporate military industrial complex was frantic for a new reason to exist .
If only the republicans voted for war and new weapons systems the goose have been served for Christmas dinner years ago .

Once again you lead away from the issue. There can be some degree of peace in the mid east with democrats running forign policy. The republicans do not want it to be peaceful there.

Lebanon and Iran were thought to be the most likely countries to become more democratic in the Mid East pre 911 . The war in Iraq finished off the hope in Iran throwing the government there to the hard liners . 28 days of bombing of the civilian infrastructure of Lebanon by Israeli hawks has thrown that country back decades and brought it to the brink of a civil war . The response in Lebanon ? Elect Hamas !

Joe Lieberman was actually elected V.P. of the united states by popular vote as a DEMOCRAT in 2000!
The telecoms threw a party at the Democratic national convention and the democratic debates were sponsored by the coal industry !
While I give some credence to your post above , isn’t it a bit naive to think that the democrats are not influenced by big money and that all their faults are caused by virtue of their civility and tolerance toward differences ?As you pointed out sometimes thing are not just black and white .
