I’ll tell you why I have, roughly, a half-ounce of sympathy for Hill.

She was doing exactly what her masters, up to that point in time, would’ve wanted her to do, and said exactly what they would’ve wanted her to say. She’s like a hotter female version of Dwight Schrute in The Office. Both of them trying to please their masters best they can, how were they supposed to know when the rules change if there’s no memo going around saying what was acceptable 27 seconds ago is now verboten? Sure, she’s a reprehensible shrew, but that’s why she was hired, and now that’s why she was fired. It’s like getting canned for doing exactly what your job description entails. It’s like a McDonald’s fry cook getting fired for making an extra bag of fries: Too soon! You overstepped your authoritah! Hang up your apron! It’s like a prostitute getting fired for being “too good” at her job: Your john finished too fast! It’s like he didn’t really get his money worth!

Of course, Dwight Schrute isn’t real, whereas Hill only seems like a product of a fevered imagination.

Comment on misshusseinmolly’s point. I think Fox news is throwing this woman under the bus (a) because she is expendable and (b) as a fig leaf of journalistic integrity to hide behind. Further, motivation could be a homage to the new administration to mend fences. Fox will demonize Barrack mercilessly in the coming years (we all know it) but they steal want a seat on the president’s plane.

Alan Colmes has been doing a very good job too, lately but he’s a special case as he’s there to justify the Fair and Balanced bs for the WHOLE of FOX.

E.D. Hill was surely low hanging fruit, easily picked-off ( see missmolly’s comment). Besides they have to make room for some new hires, like Judith Miller and the soon to be welfare queens of the Bush administration.

Hatemongers like Hannity and O”Reilly keep the audience to which they appeal – the least common denominators among us; the ones who can’t think too deeply.
Hill is just another “pretty face” a blonde with tight-fitting tops and short skirts – a dime a dozen, at half the price. Brains need not be a qualification.
Some of the older conservatives who pledge allegiance to Fox preferred Hume, but he will no longer be on TV daily, as he becomes an “an alyst” (TP doesn’t like it when I use the word in one spelling). That leave OReilly and Hannity at the top – a dubious distinction.

There are many employees in government agencies, especially the BLM and Fish and Wildlife, who have had to keep their heads down for the last 8 years. They were dismayed at the wanton giveaway to oil and gas, mining and cattle ranching interests.
I’m choosing to believe we will see a rapid return to more sustainable policies and practices, and a weeding out of idiot appointees the likes of Gail Norton.

Don’t get excited. This one will be replaced by a younger model from the peroxide factory. Rupert may tolerate Shep Smith and will let Chris Wallace act like a journalist every once in a while but don’t expect Fox to start acting like a news network until you see the three winger airheads on the morning show get canned and the Palin appearances fall below one per week.

Good point, missmolly. I don’t think it was because of complaints, as I’m sure millions of people have complained about O’Reilly and Hannity to no avail. And they let Brit Hume mix his commentary role with his “news” role all the time. My guess would be that she tried out a “talking point” that wasn’t approved by John Moody first.
