Because we are supposed to be nice and excuse the Republicans no matter how nasty they are. They know that most of us will do just that. So, they feel free to be as big a dicks as they like.

I would think that it should be fair for an elected official to grant a TV interview from their office.

I remember when Al Gore had gotten into some trouble for making some campaign fund-raising phone calls from the VPs office (it was said that if he had just leaned out the window, he would have technically been “outside the office” and that would have been OK).

My general feeling is this. Al Gore should not have been making campaign fund-raising calls from the Vice Presidential office. Sarah Palin should not have been getting interviewed in the Governor’s office. But neither infraction disrupts life as we know it, and both would have best been handled with some kind of formal cease-and-desist order. A lawsuit is overkill in this situation. Save that sort of thing for more serious matters, like abuse of power.

The taxpayers of Alaska paid for her trip to the Governor’s conference.

I don’t think that Barbie Palin is going to be able to get away with charging the taxpayers of Alaska for things like staying at home and four star hotels for her children any longer. The Alaskan legislature has already stated that they are going to look into and curb her practice of charging the taxpayer for her comfort needs. I also suspect that they are keeping an eye on her travel and who is paying for it.
