I am laughing so hard it is now difficult to find the appropriate level of rage this opinion piece deserves. The Grinch is responsible for the economic meltdown? Not the unabashed pilfering by the subprime goons, not the debt bundling driven by outrageous fees to the bundlers, it was The Grinch!?? Cindy Who save us – it’s time to sing in a circle in Whoville. You know what the real tragedy is here?

There are millions of people who can give more informed, more intelligent, more relevant opinions than this guy. Many of them are underemployed or unemployed. But he gets paid an above-average salary for this kind of poor performance.

If your job is to provide an opinion, then if you provide opinions that are stupid, ignorant, evil or all three you should lose your job and it should be given to someone who can provide a better quality opinion. The “marketplace of ideas” needs to start functioning like a real marketplace: people who sell crap should go broke.

I’m not saying everybody should agree with me. But they shouldn’t be so profoundly stupid. They’re just doing a simple formula:

1) pick one problem facing the world today
2) pick something the right-wing wants
3) say that the lack of #2 is the cause for #1
4) get paid

I suspect they’re just rolling dice on this formula now, rather than picking anything that even has a chance of being relevant.

I never had a problem with saying Merry Xmas until some of these A-holes started making a point of it. Now I reply Happy Solstice and hope their brain tumors explode!

And O is the economy ruined? Begs the question: What took it so long? What did these rightwing capitalist cultists expect after decades of selling out American workers so that their purchasing power will soon be shrinking to zero. Those responsible should hang.

Then that indeed will be a Merry Christmas.

Someone has been sniffing too much glue.

This is a multi-cultural, multi-religious, multi-ethnic nation with citizens whose origins or ancestries come from nations all across the world. We are not a homogeneous society, and not everyone celebrates Christmas. It is simple POLITENESS to wish someone “Happy Holidays” when one doesn’t know their religious identity.

No one is going to stop anyone from saying “Merry Christmas”, but neither should anyone be forced to do so. Considering the PAGAN origins of the modern Christmas holiday, if we really want to be sincere then we should be wishing one another a “Joyous Saturnalia” instead.

This guy who claims that the so-called “War on Christmas” is the cause of our economic problems is a LOON and should be fired on the spot. No one with such a ridiculous and childish view of the world should be given a platform to promote such stupid ideas.
