Freedom’s Watch is shutting down.

Freedom’s Watch is shutting down.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports today that Freedom’s Watch, the right-wing advocacy group founded by Ari Fleischer and funded by Sheldon Adelson, “is pretty much kaput.” Freedom’s Watch spokesman Ed Patru “confirmed that much of the staff was on its way out,” but refused to say if the group would continue in the future:

As for the organization’s future, Patru maintained it was yet to be decided by the board of directors, which includes former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer and Sands Corp. President Bill Weidner.

“In the coming weeks and months, the organization will downsize,” Patru said. “In terms of the future and what role the organization will play, those decisions will be made in the very near future.”

Politico’s Josh Kraushaar notes that “the group is going out with one last blast in the Georgia Senate runoff” by running an ad that attacks Democratic Senate candidate Jim Martin, whose daughter was kidnapped, as being soft on crime.

Sheldon’s finances sank precipitously with the financial meltdown. His casino company is closed to being a penny stock.

Oh, and the big money boys betting on each other’s failure?

So long and don’t the door hit you where the good lord split you- on second thought, it is OK if it does.

Will Ari be moving over to Commissioner of Baseball? Or, will he have to fight GWB for the job?

Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands Corp–52 week high $123

It hit a low last week of less than $3 a share. That has to hurt.

  13. MapleStreet says:

But wouldn’t the repub losses in the election be all the more reason that they need to get their “mainstream” word out ?

The article alludes to the major financial supporter running into financial problems. But it seems like if they were at all viable as a political machine, the base would pick up some of the funding.

  14. Jackie says:

It’s hard out there for a crook Ari might apply for a job with the Obama/Biden Administration. Look he could be a spy for the GOP and maybe bring chaos to bring them down for McCain/Palin to somehow get in office. Scotty is doing the best he can to suck up even Bennie want to keep his Fed job. Poor Bennie doen’t know what he’s doing but just following orders but the pay is good.

    Quoting wikipedia.org:

“Freedom’s Watch has tight connections to the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) and the American Enterprise Institute. The group was conceived at a Florida meeting of the RJC in March 2007 in part to counter MoveOn.org and help the Bush administration sell its Iraq policy. It was founded by a dozen conservatives of immense wealth, most notably Sheldon Adelson, who donated almost all of its initial funding.[6] Four out of five members of Freedom’s Watch original board are Republican Jews, and four of the eight initial donors are Jewish [...]”
