Lieberman lies: ‘I never felt that Barack Obama was unready.’

In an interview with Hartford, CT, local Fox affiliate Fox 61, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) denied that he had ever suggested that Barack Obama was “not ready to lead.” “I never felt that Barack Obama was ‘unready,’” he told the host. Watch it:

As MyLeftNutmeg’s video makes clear, Lieberman was lying. The host pushed back, warning him that bloggers who watched this interview “are going to have a field day with it.”

Jaffa Joe still has all the GOP-splooge he ever sucked stashed in his dewlaps…

  2. Uncle Ho says:

He’s called Joe LIEberman for a reason. Reid, and other Dems have no balls for letting this schmuck keep his chair.

  3. galmud says:

Perhaps Lieberman “never felt Obama was unready to be President” but he just lied through his teeth to get his buddy elected

  4. LibertyLover says:

You know, I can’t decide who has gotten more air time lately: Sarah Palin or Smiling Joe. Perhaps they should take it on the road.

  5. Bushie says:

This episode shows what we knew to be true; the Senate has a low ethical standard and individually zero integrity. That Obama not only allowed the caucus to act as it did, but actively petitioned for the outcome speaks volumes on what we can expect of the new Administration and Congress.

  6. nanlichi says:

‘I never felt that Barack Obama was unready.’

That is probably a true statement. That being said Joe, then you lied your fcking ass off when you stated that Obama was unready. The fact is that Joe said Obama was unready.

  7. nanlichi says:

Sorry galmud, you beat me to it.

  8. CheeseFlap says:

    Tokin you inspired me:

    Stash it in dewlaps
Save it for a rainy day
    Ah the memories

  9. hivanh says:

Liebermann, Palin, Chambliss, DeLay, Boehner: they all get way too much press coverage for saying nothing or contradicting themselves. Give it a rest.

  10. Kay says:

Of course, LIEberman our beloved senator from Israel is all smiles because the next admin will cater and bend over bacwards for AIPAC thus continue our reckless foreign policy.

It’s the Myth of 60 Seats. It gives the Dims cover, even though it is itself a meaningless number. They will say they have to cower to the wrath of Lieberman because hs’ll by the (mythical) 60th Seat.

But of course this is all cow-flop. With 70 seats, the Dims couldn’t guarantee 60 to vote cloture on any progressive measure, or any nomination o utside the ‘center-right’ mainstream of the Congress generally.

By my count, there are at LEAST 12 DINO votes available to block pro/lib moves: Loserman, of course, but also the rest of the Dim side of the gang of 14 from the ‘94-96 congress, plus Baucus, Byrd, Rockefeller, the two Nelsons, Lincoln, probalbly Carper, Feinstein, and Salazar…

  12. misshusseinmolly says:

If Lieberman “never felt” that Obama was “unready”, he is either lying now, or he was lying when he essentially accused Obama of being just that during the campaign.

What I don’t understand is that in this day and age when we have cameras, recorders, YouTube, internet, etc., politicians STILL think they can get away with “I never said that”.

  13. Wayne says:

    LIEberman Lied?
    I’m shocked, I tell ya!**

**I’m shocked his tongue doesn’t catch fire and melt out of his evil head.

  14. Leftside Annie says:

Pssst, Joe – we, uh, *do* have recording devices and suchlike….

    Just sayin’.

  15. Zimzone says:

Perhaps it’s all a part of Michele Bachmann’s ‘Urban Legend’?

The Senate, America’s House of Lords, protects each other first, regardless of party. (Look at the Stevens’ lovefest.)

I guess having to spend all that time with Lindsay Graham is punishment enough for Droopy Dawg.

Joe is a chameleon. He’ll change colors, stances, issues or partners in a holy minute, depending which way the wind’s blowing…or he’s blowing.

  16. shoeless says:

So Lieberman doesn’t know how that whole videotape thing works, eh?

  17. tokin librul says:

“Ah NAIVUH cawled thet culuhd boy “Macaca,” an’ iyuff Ah dayid, ewe jis tuk ayit outtn cawntext, boy…”

  18. Jackie says:

Well this clears up any questions for the voters of CT. that their Senator is an open face liar and proud of it. There are to many times to count when Lieberman said Obama wasn’t ready. As it stands Lieberman is publicly making a bigger fool of himself to save the Republican Party. I look forward to the chess game Obama will play with Lieberman and McCain, it should be interesting.

  19. raynman says:

I’m hoping that this isn’t a case of Obama kowtowing to to the mythical 60 votes.

Instead, I’m hoping that this is a case where you have a huge hammer (because he can never ‘unsay’ his words thanks to the internets) constantly hanging over Lieberman’s head. And so, when certain things need to get done that heretofore Lieberman balked at, the hammer starts swinging and Lieberman is forced to act.

Then again, it could be as it appears… we protect our own.

Obama did not actively petition for the outcome. All he did was to say that he wanted LIEberman to caucus with the Democrats. He DID NOT say that he wanted them to allow LIEberman to keep his chairmanship. He allowed the Senate to make up their mind on that one. I suppose he could have ordered Congress to now allow LIEberman to keep his chairmanship, but that would be a lot like what Bush did with his Republican congress.

  23. LanceThruster says:

Sen. Quislingman has found that his lies never catch up with him so why should he start worrying about it now?

  24. zuch says:

If there’s any doubt remaining that Joe Lieberman is a Rethuglican, this ought to dispel such doubts: He can lie, straight-faced, and without a twinge of conscience, knowing full well that the tapes prove that he’s a liar. He’s right up there with Bachmann and Palin….

    Cheers,

  25. unbelievable says:

Someone really needs to explain how magnetic imaging works to Joe. Really. Becausehe does not seem to understand that the stuff he previously said on camera can be replayed over and over and over, proving what a liar he really is.

Sadly, we’re stuck with him until 2012 until the voters of Conneticut can finally kick him out.

  26. motorfingaz says:

The Dems did the right thing by letting JL keep his post.

The media would’ve made Obama and the Dems look like arrogant bullies if they had not.

Brilliant move by Obama and the Dems in the Senate. Keep Ole JL on the run by making him look like the true liar he is!

  27. Max-1 says:

    .

    What…?
… Liarman is now the denyerman.

  28. Nevar says:

It’s encouraging that a FOX affiliate in his own state is willing to challenge the mealy mouth.

  29. drlarrymitchell says:

Total conjecture on my part, but…
Has anyone floated the idea that perhaps Lieberman operated as a double agent within the McCain campaign? Given the way things have turned out, it kind of makes a weird sort of sense. Obama was mighty OK with letting Joe keep his seat, and not because they need his vote.
    Just wondering…

  30. the Lone Voice of Reason says:

Just waiting for his pants to burst into flames

  31. SP Biloxi says:

LIEberman caught on video! Hope CT constituents have some sense to not re-elect him.

  32. MapleStreet says:

It used to be you could tell a repub from a dem by their political stance: conservative vs. liberal.

Now it appears that you can tell a repub by the way they spin and contort themselves to deny what they said or didn’t say – an don’t seem to realize that the tubes of the internet are full of youtubes.

By this later definition, Joe LIE has caught the repub disease.

Total conjecture on my part, but…

I think Lieberman is an agent for the Defense Industry, and a certain small Middle Eastern rogue nuclear state whose primary export is armaments.

  34. sacopenapa says:

A Traitor who has become an irrelevant old fart.

  35. Keith H. says:

    But more importantly.
What does old joe shoot from the back tees ?

  36. tarazan says:

It will be a surprise if this man says anything truthful.

    He always lies.

He has been fooling millions of Americans for sometime;he fooled Democrats who even selected him to be their VP nominee.

Now he lies that he never said Obama is unfit to be a president.

    Any surprise there !!!.
    Not to me.

  37. wolfsinger says:

I’m sick and tired of Lieberman.

Joe is a sanctimonious self-serving turd.

I’m sick and tired of Reid!

Harry is the sanctimonious self-serving Turd’s ENABLER.

Hold Reid accountable then the Turd. It clears air and smells like justice.

  38. ElBruce says:

Ahem. The last clip in this compilation clearly contradicts his statement above.

  39. kpaul says:

    He lies through his face!

  40. TraitorJoe says:

What a piece of garbage this schmuck is!

  41. wolfsinger says:

    Seriously,

When are we going to get organized and call for Reid’s ouster as Senate leader?

He’s up for re-election in 2010. Do we have to wait that long to have him replaced as Senate leader? Because “Leader” is the last thing he is. This Joe story shouldn’t even be a blip on the radar. Reid’s abject incompetence makes it so. Enough!

It smells in the Senate right now. Its time to clear the air. Am I missing a memo? Who is willing to challenge him in the Senate and where do we sign up to support him/her?

  42. barrelhse says:

Shoot me or shoot him. And, Jesus, tell him not to talk with dick in his mouth- or elsewhere.

  43. impeachy keen says:

Possibly between the ADD youth, the senile elders and the sleeple, old Joey Joe Joe really doesn’t have to worry about very many people catching his lies.

    Thanks again, Connecticut!

  44. BearCountry says:

I don’t think that we have to worry too much about joLIE in 2012. I believe that he will retire rather than spend energy and political capital in a losing race. He will just move on to being a lobbyist in support of the same clients he now has.
