I do not favour seceeding from the Union, If and when the government makes or endorses laws contrary to the Constitution, The govt then has already seceeded from the
people, which by the way is the real government. We the people only give our elected officials the privilege to govern as long as they strictly abide by the Constitution
as stated by the founding fathers of this country. Problem is the servants have taken over the house. They need to be put in their proper place, and the size their paychecks should be determined by the masters of the house, we the people, A true patriot will not leave their country but hang in there and attempt to mend it's every flaw. If it is over populated by a sleazy bunch of perverts. It will destroy it's self in time.
I pledge allegiance to America and to the Republic for which it stands, If it ever becomes a socialist or communist government it will be no longer a Republic and I pledge myself to be totally against it. So then we must do whatever it takes to bring it back to a real America again. In the meantime we must do our best to keep America American.
Capitalism is great for a country but unjust exploitation needs to be stopped. " A just weight and a perfect balance is God's delight."

It seems to me that what used to be thought of as "extreme" is now being pushed down our conservative throats. I think it would make wonderful sense to just divide the country in half...put all of those who support homosexuals, abortion, illegal immigrants, and every other form of unlawlessness and unGodliness on one side, and those who want the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to still be the God of their country on the other side. Voila! Problems solved; no more squabling or bickering. The Christians can live in peace, and all others can live in their peace.

In October 2001, I predicted to my friends that the United States will fall, and will be known as the "United Countries of America". With the way things are going here, in America...bad choices being made by our own government...the way they steal from the poor to give to the incompentent corporate bastards, who run their companies to the ground...we, the American people, can do better without the federal government. Breaking free from the federal government would be better for all! U.S.S.R. failed...U.S.A. is next!

Despite the nutty comments in this forum.

All states have that right... but its not a right.

Ie; There is nothing that keeps a state from secedding and in fact only 2 have specific options relating to this.

But most (other than civil war) wouldnt do it nowadays.

The fact is that Texas still retains the right to self-split itself into multiple states, but if contested it would have the actual right to secede then.

Other states can, despite what Lincoln & others tried to say.

Its still a part of the 'voluntary union of states' deal.

Its unfortunate that of late, many on the left, consider any disagreement or opposition to their ideas to be wrong, evil, or even want it made illegal.

In some areas they are already succeeding.
Examples:

1. Democrats (specifically Ed Kennedy & others) are fond of calling those who disagree with them "Hilter".

2. If you are accused of childabuse, you are automaticlally guilty, and it can be difficult (in some states impossible) to prove innocence, "though DNA is now helping prove it".
Ie; in most places you cannot confront the case worker who accuses you, even when she/he is lieing outright.

Reality is that too many crimes of recent decades have been proven per DNA to not be committed by the one convicted.

3. Hillary once said while 1st lady, that if one doesnt vote for her husbands healthcare that one should not have a right to vote... (since she was 'defacto' in charge of the idea, it was not proper for her to state this).

4. Continuation of the idea that increasing taxes and paying it is patrotic ...when the reverse is true.
Its patrotic to pay taxes, but to oppose unreasonable increases.. Since we are now paying in many cases twice what we think we are paying in taxes, its getting crazy.

Dont forget to include all taxes:
Fed,State, local, sales, fees, permits, licenses, property tax, etc, cap gains, taxes on taxes and even multilevel taxes.

I can't believe the hate that is being spewed on this site from people on the left. Unification is what we need, not calling out a talk show radio host on a comment take completely out of context. (If you heard the whole clip he in no way advocated secession. Beck questioned if it was actually allowed and has said again and again to support the President Elect Obama and the country ie. don't consider anything radical like secession or an anti Obama underground.) Think critically and don't believe everything stated in a clearly bias article. Most of you have only heard 27 seconds of beck anyway.

The only progress this country needs is a backward historical progress. (I know a complete oxymoron) That progress was brought on by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin and all of our other amazing, brilliant founding fathers. Look in the mirror before you so hastily judge other citizens and then aim that attention where it is deserved. The real problem does not lie in us, the people. It is the radicals in power on both sides of the political field. The Constitution is the only thing we should base our political views on. Let's never get back to a WWI Wilson America where individualism and opinion are oppressed and considered un-American. Whole point of this is to not be the "hateful-left" that a lot of you are being.

While I can't say I follow Beck's logic, I do think it is about time we had an amiable divorce (Libs and Conservatives). Going by the election results over the past few presidential elections, we're pretty close to a 50/50 ideological split. Red states/Blue states, I don't really know how we could come up with a fair way to divide up the land but I imagine there could be a solution that we could all live with.

Please do ... take those red states with their lower education, lower income, higher obesity rates, higher murder rates, socialized farming, hurricanes and tornadoes, and higher divorce rates and have yourself a ball. The red states tend to be net gainers from the federal treasury while blue states are net losers, so the Blue States of America (BSA) can use its surplus to build more infrastructure.

Here - Here, Mae. The left is the left and the right is the right. I do not expect to convince either side to agree no matter which side I am trying to represent. And at this point in time it does not matter. These people that are supposedly representing us are failing miserably, much to OUR expense...literally. We are fast becoming a third world country. The Federal Reserve is NOT connected to the federal government in any way. It is several banks that also have NO oversight and some foreign owned. The Eastern countries and Europe now own our debt and next Monday it will get worse. They OWN our economic future and it was the power and greed of our government that has brought us to this time. If we are able to have another election we should invoke our own term limits by voting OUT anyone serving more than one term. Those of you wishing to gloat over the election are not paying attention to the real issues having nothing to do with the results of that election. We STILL have the wolves guarding the hen house no matter which party won. These people in office know not what they do. If you have anything left next spring, pay off your bills, plant a garden, get a crank radio, buy some ammo and a big dog. In mid summer you may be thinking along the same lines as Glen Beck. Its not getting better real soon.

Constitutional silence does not disprove secession.

By passing laws that violate the Constitution such as gun laws, Patriot Act and numerous executive orders, then it could reasonably be considered breach of contract and grounds for secession.

It is unamerican not to hold the federal government accountable for its corruption. Where is the indignation? Are we so mesmerized by our blackberries that we won't get out and hold these crooks accountable? Raise your hands if you don't think we are getting shafted by the privately owned Federal Reserve with the full approval of the federal government. We don't elect the Federal Reserve Chairman. They are not accountable to the American people any more than Federal Express is.

Read up on your founding fathers, they warned us about these issues we face today. If you won't hold government accountable it will do whatever it pleases, and it is.

To bicker between party lines is distracting to the real issues and the political elite know it and use it to their advantage. Obama is human just like all the Presidents that came before him. Only time will tell if he upholds our rights or tries to test the limits of our Constitution like so many before him have, Rep. and Dem. alike.

The Constitution is the only thing we have to protect ourselves. Never be afraid to defend it, even if that means threatening secession. This is not a popularity contest, we are not in high school anymore. A political party will not protect your rights, only We The People in defense of the Constitution can do that.

Beck is a nitwit, but these bailouts are open, epic corruption that demands serious action.

I don't understand? I get why we all frustrated with Glenn Beck, but why are we not outraged at the theft of our money? Why are we defending the indefensible?

Why doesn't Beck just secede from society at large? I mean he seems only steps away from moving to a remote cabin in the mountains and firing up the manual typewriter to bang out the manifesto he's had on the back burner for so long.

The last time anyone suggested that states disagreeing with Federal policies should secede, we had the most bloody and destructive war on our own soil - a war that still affects us today. The memories of the battles, where brother fought brother, are still fresh for those of us who are surrounded by remembrances of the war. Most of us look back on the Civil War with memories of pain and suffering of our ancestors. I have no idea why Beck doesn't share those memories or even recognize the importance of that conflict.

So, no, Glenn. States cannot secede from the Union. Here's a novel idea: how about being a grown-up and participate in the political system like the rest of us do. Fight for the issues you believe in, like the rest of us do. Suffer the same disappointments that the rest of us suffer when the issues we support are neglected, abused or ignored by others in power.

What a whiner!!! I still don't understand how this man was ever offered a place on talk radio, let alone cable television. I know that he will be very happy at Faux News. No real news outlet would ever have Beck as a face on their network.

If Glenn Beck is agitating for secession, then maybe the GOP was running the wrong Palin? Maybe the GOP should start courting Todd Palin and his AIP buddies ~ seems like a perfect match to me.

I recently read somewhere, sorry, no source, that Texas does have a legal right to extract itself fro the US per se, because it joined the union by a treaty. Sounds logical. How bout them Cowboys? Take TO and go.

As it happens, just this week a noted professor of psychological warfare in Moscow (I kid you not) "predicted that the US will break up into six parts — the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong." He even suggested that "we could claim Alaska — it was only granted on lease, after all."

Glenn Beck should stop trying to juggle those knives and buzzsaws, since he lost his legs to stand on three weeks back because of them.

I don't think anyone from the left (maybe an anonymous contribution or five from Connecticut) will be giving to the Obama Wars right wing radio host veterans fund.

As much as I'd welcome a U.S. without Glenn Beck in it, somehow I don't think he's actually going to follow through with his stated offer to leave it.

The appropriate response to this is, every time he's introduced on any show for any reason, it can be as "and now, here's outspoken secessionist, Glenn Beck."

Somehow I don't think that's going to happen either.
