In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Gen. James Conway, the head of the Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, “Iraq is now a rear-guard action on the part of al Qaeda. … They’ve changed their strategic focus not to Afghanistan but to Pakistan, because Pakistan is the closest place where you have the nexus of terrorism and nuclear weapons.” Caroline Wadhams explains what we need to do to address the problem.
There is no evidence, none, that al-Qaeda ever considered Iraq the “central front” of their war. But Bush seemed to think it was, the same way he thought Saddam had WMDs and ties to bin Laden.

O.K.
WHY IS PAKISTAN CONSIDERED OUR ALLY OF TWAT?
America went into Afghanistan and al-CIA-duh ran into Pakistan. So America attacked Iraq?
Then, America blew up Iraq and al-CIA-duh tried to move back into Afghanistan, so America pushed them back into Pakistan with the assurances of Pakistan that Pakistan will keep al-CIA-duh safe?
Now, America, under Obama, will focus our forces on Afghanistan so as to keep al-CIA-dua focused on Pakistan?
Someone please parse this for me…

November 26th, 2008 at 2:50 pmI *knew* Bush had at least ONE major F-up left in him before leaving office, but between the “economy” and now “national security”, I’m wondering if America will survive the next 24 days.
November 26th, 2008 at 2:51 pmWe have blundered badly in Afghanistan and Pakistan, having put all of our eggs in the Iraq basket. Our collusion with the former military dictator Musharraf has made it more difficult for America to work with the new leadership in Pakistan and to work with the Pakistanis to clean up the Taliban and Al Qaeda strongholds in the NWFP and other places along the Afghan border.
November 26th, 2008 at 2:51 pm“U.S. Commander: Al Qaeda’s focus is Pakistan, not Iraq.”
Gee, ya think? Of course the Bubble Boy-in-chief and cronies knew that. It’s been all about the oil and the benjamins.
November 26th, 2008 at 2:58 pmRepublicans and Al Qaeda operatives in lockstep ideology. Both want to keep American troops in Iraq, both want to engage in perpetual war and both complain about Obama’s popularity and press coverage.
Too funny
November 26th, 2008 at 3:00 pmPakistan has Oil???
November 26th, 2008 at 3:04 pmBe careful what General is talking. Those who work for the Bush Administration will say what ever the White House tells them to say as General Petraeus does. Even the FBI has gotten in on the scare game by speading the fear of Al Aeada bombing NY again. These guys tried that to help McCain/Palin and it didn’t work. Most of the Generals are made they wont get their kick backs for lying to the American people and the troops.
November 26th, 2008 at 3:21 pmPresident-ELECT Obama said he will lead the way and the generals will carry it out.
November 26th, 2008 at 3:23 pmGuido the Loving OBGYN Says:
We should have carpet bombed the shit out of the Taliban and Al Kayduh and never stopped until the mountains were rubble.
Russia tried that.
Why do you think Afghanistan is so mountainous?
Wise up.
November 26th, 2008 at 3:27 pmNo doubt vile acts, but I think the world is much dirtier than most think.

Obama will deal with Al-Qaida.
LONG LIVE PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!
Obama is a racial-minority individual and does not like racism:
I know it may be hard to believe.
However, it is absolutely true that Ronald Wilson Reagan committed horrible, racist, hate crimes during his presidency.
A lot of people know about Reagan’s infamy.
And a lot of people will know about Reagan’s infamy—even until the end of human existence: they’ll find out.
Numbers 32:23: “Be sure your sins will find you out.”
