Fox News shut out again at Obama press conference.

Fishbowl DC has been keeping tabs of which media outlets have been allowed to ask a question at President-elect Barack Obama’s five press conferences so far. They report Fox News is 0-5. “Questions instead went to such outlets as ABC, New York Times, CBS, Reuters and the Associated Press.”

  5. The Dogfather says:

There’s a reason for this, of course — it’s because Obama’s pressers are to interact with legitimate news organizations, not propaganda outlets. Hence, until Faux Snooze becomes a legitimate news organization (translation: “until hell freezes over…”), they will continue to be shut out…

This is simply a long-awaited adjustment to the master list. I’d call on the Toys R’ Us rep. before I call on Faux News.

  8. spencers mom says:

If FuxNews were ever to become a, you know, news organization, perhaps someone would be able to pose a question to the new administration.

As long as Fux continues to spin facts into right-wing opinion pieces in order to feed maggot-infested red meat to their cadavers, er, viewers, they have no place in a press conference to begin with.

    PEACE

  9. A Patriot Acting says:

“Can we really pull this off for 8 years?”

Well, the current Administration has managed to avoid the stalwart Helen Thomas for eight years. They even planted their own “press agents” (Jeff Gannon, FEMA employees etal) in the crowd to lob softballs for Dubya and his lackies. The Obama Administration should just cut to the chase in January and strip FOX reporters of their press credentials and ban them from setting foot in the White House and have the WH phones screened for bugs. They don’t even pretend to push their own special brand of crap as anything truthful anymore, just red meat for the GOP faithful.

  10. Nevar says:

The most amazing thing of all, is that President (almost) Obama is having regular and frequent press conferences.
    In person!
Has G. Dufous Bush given that many actual press conferences in his entire time in office?

You mean real questions like “Why won’t you admit that you are palling around with terrorists?”.

Obama is calling on news agencies who do ask real questions. He has no use for the Republican Propaganda Network.

“Is he afraid to answer real questions?”

No troll, he has faced more than his share of those allready. It’s more like not having the time to waste shooting down a constant stream of strawmen and coddling the propaganda organization that tried it’s best throughout the campaigns to undermine the man’s legitimacy through blatant and coordinated lies, even weeks/months after they were dispelled. I’d say they should be made to lie in the shit-laden bed that they made for themselves by being transparent shills for the GOP and PNAC.

Is he afraid to answer real questions?
    _____________________________________________________________

Um…”real” questions? Like questions about his patriotism, his religion, his eligibility to be president, and his “terrorist fist jabs”? Please.

Fear has nothing to do with it — it’s more of a time efficiency issue. Whenever a busy man (or woman) hold a press conference, there’s a limited time for asking and answering questions. During this limited amount of time, it makes sense to answer the questions coming from people who will actually pay attention to the answers and report them, and not to waste time answering questions asked of a news medium who is just going to report what they want to anyway.

Seems like a win-win all the way around. The news outlets who are genuinely interested in what Obama has to say will get that information, and those who have already made up their mind what they are going to say about Obama (like Fox News) go ahead and do just that.

  25. nanlichi says:

It used to be that the best example of fake news was the National Enquirer, but now Fox has taken over the top (bottom?) spot.

Fake stories of Elvis being spotted in a mall in Birmingham are replaced by fake stories of Obama’s birth certificate.

You can’t cure stupid. And Fox viewers are willfully stupid.

  30. gus smith says:

Hey, if Obama can be open-minded enough to put Hillary in his cabinet he can answer a few questions from FOX. Big heartedness and the symbolism of the gesture will go a long way toward reversing the Bush travesty’s. Fox is just one of the enemies that Obama must talk to, per his own prescription for diplomacy and running the country as a whole, and not by partisan means.

  31. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

Why would FOX need to ask any questions, anyway? Don’t they own the omniscient (i.e. know-it-all) Bill O’Reilly who can answer all the questions, after he asks them of course. It would be much more efficient than having Obama answer and then having to put his answer through the FOX spin-translator to get the answer they want to smear him.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I am suprised it took RupturedRetard this long to weigh in with the propaganda take on the issue. Afraid of the morons at FOX HA, it is to laugh. They are nothing BUT a propaganda organ of the right so why pretend they are a legitimate news service? Did you complain that Bush treated Helen Thomas this way? I am betting you didnt. I say they can give Fox a question every three or four years like Helen got. They can ask if Obama has stopped beating his wife. Obama can handle the question with wit and panache like Bush couldnt do even in his dreams then ignore them another four years. You really are brainwashed Ruptured, no one who has been paying attention will be fooled by the propaganda as you have been.

  33. fletc3her says:

The invitation to ask a question at a Presidential (well, -elect) news conference is precious and should only be granted to credible news organizations. There are dozens of reporters from better news agencies than FoxNews in the room.

  34. Jackie says:

Once Fox News hires real Journalist instead of bartenders and alcoholic/druggies and insane medical people then maybe a question can be asked. Fox News isn’t a news Station is a GOP witch hunt station with non Journalist reporting. Would you go to a dinner where the person was a construction worker playing like a cook but had never cooked in his/her life. Yes many Americans like the comedy/fake new reports on Fox News. The hate and lies are believed by many viewers and you see what situtation the US is in now with those reports. Obama is a serious educated President Elect and will only deal with professional educated serious Journalist who work for the best interest of Americans.

  35. EugeneDebs says:

    gus smith Says:

Sure he CAN but why should he? Why pretend Fox is a real news outlet and give them the legitimacy they never earned? If it were me I would strip ALL Fox news phonies of their credentials and have my press secretary pick ONE Fox guy they think the least odious and have THEM pick up their credentials every day at the begining of the day IF we decided to give them any THAT day. I would tell them negative press is fine. Propaganda and stupidity will be met with a complete and total loss of access.

  36. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

RaptureReady’s crowd should ask President-Elect Huckabee all the questions and quit giving loser Obama credibility by wanting to pose questions to him.

    gus smith Says:

Perhaps you can tell us why Obama “must” talk to Fixed News. Perhaps Obama has made a vow that he will only talk to legitimate news outlets. Since Fixed News is nothing more than an extension of the RNC, as it’s propaganda outlet, then there is no reason for Obama to call on them.

  39. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

  41. nofltwlt says:

Fox News must admit its own complicity in this matter. They have proven to be an appendage of the GOP and their reporting is so unfair and unbalanced that it has no value to a public seeking facts and truth.

  42. JerryJerr says:

Fox News constantly went after Michelle Obama. That’s why. Did Fox News ever go after Cindy McCain for breaking the law and getting away with it? Or Laura Bush’s phony account of how she “accidentally” ran her car into her ex boyfriend and killed him?

But Michelle Obama gave terrorist fist bumps and hates her country. Fox News crossed the line, as they constantly do, and are rightfully being punished for it.

He has even missed most of “teh gays” threads lately, so we know he is sulking. heh

  52. MapleStreet says:

As 27 Nanlichi implies – How many times has Obama answered questions from the National Inquirer ?

I also wonder how much of Faux’s peevishness is an inability to deal with their no-longer overinflated status from the Bush WH ??? And/or their trying to make enough noise – kind of like arguing with the referee so that he’ll be cautious to make a decision against you in the future.

  53. Liberal Kelly says:

Seriously… Why bother answering any questions from Fox News? It would be a total waste of time for they would take whatever answer he gave and twist it, mangle it, butcher it, deface, destroy, distort, contort, falsify, pervert, disfigure, alter, convolute, and ultimately destroy any semblance of his original answer.

Might as well pretend they’re not even in the room.

Yea Gus, this makes a LOT of sense…not.

Big heartedness and the symbolism of the gesture will go a long way toward reversing the Bush travesty’s.

Ummm…no they won’t. Again, this makes NO sense.

Fox is just one of the enemies that Obama must talk to, per his own prescription for diplomacy and running the country as a whole, and not by partisan means.

No, no, no…Fox isn’t an entity that needs to be engaged diplomatically, NOR are they a legitimate NEWS organization. They ARE very partisan and would NOT treat PE Obama in non-partisan manner if he chose to answer their illegitimate questions.

Your whole argument lacks any regard to context and is pretty much garbage.

  58. Hemlock for Gadflies says:

Assuming he can ignore the Hannityesque “afraid to talk to FOX” meme that even as we speak is surely percolating away to its optimal 3-hour-old coffee stank, Obama could basically do this forever. It’s sweet.

The only thing that would make it better is Obama pulling a Reagan and finally taking a question from FOX while walking to the presidential helicopter on the South Lawn — signaling that gosh-o-mighty it’s too bad but he can’t hear what you’re saying!

  59. Ed in NJ says:

  62. Bluestocking says:

I realize that I may be going against popular opinion here (and may be verbally eviscerated for it) — but I don’t think that FOX News should be completely left out in the cold. That’s something which the Bush administration has reportedly done consistently throughout the past eight years — sidelined or denied access outright to the representatives of any media outlets perceived as potentially being confrontational. While turn about may be fair play, I can’t in good faith condone any attempt to censor or restrain the press no matter who’s doing it — if it’s wrong when a Republican administration does it, it’s equally wrong when a Democratic administration does it and payback is not sufficient justification for doing it. Based on what I’ve seen of him so far, Obama is in my opinion more capable than Bush could have even hoped to be at holding his own in the face of confrontation anyway — and in so doing, he would prove himself the better leader.

  63. Marie says:

The chicago tribune today ran a full-page ad from the loony organization that is trying to have the election annulled because they claim Obama’s birth certificate is not real.

  64. martygrn says:

Why don’t we just call it black and white? ALL news media outlets are arms of a political party. I agree, Fox News IS RNC….but CNN IS DNC by just as large a margin! So he shuts the opposition out….so be it, it is only logical. For those who are still complaining about GW NOT calling on Helen Thomas, perhaps the reason is exactly the same?

  65. Vincennes says:

Well of course I wouldn’t call on Fox News. They’re not a real journalistic organization. It would be like Obama calling on someone from The Daily Show, except it actually bills itself as a joke.

She doesnt carry water for Dems she asks them the same hardnosed questions she does Republicans. So NO it is no where NEAR the same reason. Ok, so maybe Ms. Thomas was a bad example. In actual fact, she is probably the ONLY true journalist left in existence! ABC-none, CBS-none, NBC-none, FOX-nope, CNBC-not a chance….try anyone else? Print? USA Today-nope, NY Times-not even close, LA Times-no one, Washington Post-not a soul!

Basically, what I am saying is that ALL media/reporters are questioning from their own agenda. Be they RNC, DNC, or any other point of view. I have not seen a truly objective news piece, TV or written, in a great many years!!
