Obama trying to avoid picking intel officials associated with Bush’s policies.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Obama is “moving more slowly on his intelligence picks in an attempt to find experienced officials who aren’t associated with the Bush administration’s controversial interrogation policies.” After former CIA official John Brennan withdrew his name from consideration due to his prior support for key Bush policies, retired Navy Adm. Dennis Blair emerged as a front-runner, though the decision hadn’t been finalized. “Blair is free of any association with two of the intelligence community’s most controversial issues: the CIA’s harsh interrogations of terrorism suspects and the National Security Agency’s warrantless wiretapping program.”

Bipartisanship is a lofty goal, given the events of the last 8 years, & it has to start now with the transition teams.
One prime example: Dr. Susan Rice as U.N. Ambassador, compared to John Bolton.

Placating Muslims or any ethnic/religious group for that matter, do not appear to be among Obama’s top priorities right now, Omar. His plate is pretty full dealing with the myriad of blunders and attrocities commited by Bush. I’m sure once he fixes the economy, ends the occupation of Iraq, catches Bin Laden and forges a troop withdrawal pact with Afghanistan he’ll get right on that for you!

In 1999, as militia and Indonesian military violence was escalating Blair went to Indonesia and instead of ordering the Indonesian military to back off, offered understanding and further U.S. military assistance.
