O’Reilly’s Great American ‘Holiday’ Quiz.

Despite his annual tirades against the so-called War on Christmas and people who say “Happy Holidays,” Fox News host Bill O’Reilly has a “Great American Holiday Quiz” up on the Parade Magazine website:

Loofah Boy is certainly a fresh piece of something

  2. Witch1 says:

Even for 3 free meal’s a day for the rest of my life I woulden’t enter his quiz or want his lousy book……Blessings

  3. Adamkun says:

That picture has clearly been edited. His horns and spade-tipped tail are completely gone!

  4. Bozo The Neoclown says:

i got a proposal for a new holiday- smack a faux journalist upside the head with a sack of hot nickels day, to be celebrated 365 days a year.

  5. jpopphan says:

Note also the complete lack of any “Christian” imagery in the graphic accompanying the piece.

    * Santa – not Christian; based in pagan beliefs
    * Kwanzaa – not (generally) Christian; based on African traditions
    * Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer – not Christian; a children’s story
    * Hanukkah – definitely not Christian; minor Jewish holiday
    * Decorated tree – not Christian; based in pagan beliefs
    * December 25th – not Christian; from the Julian calendar, date of pagan festival and also date of birth of Mithras
    * Bill O’Reilly – not Christian in any way that I can recognize; descended from pagans from Ireland

So… BillO is batting 1000 on his non-Christian holiday quiz.

    War on Christmas… yeah, right.

  6. hanshiro says:

O’Reilly is a red-herring clown. He is simply an obvious focus of disgust while the real b@stards continue to drive Constitutional rights off a cliff. While people are fuming over O’Reilly, the corporations behind Kristol and PNAC will use the so-called “missing billions” to dismantle anything resembling real justice and individual freedoms. The internet will be next.

Don’t waste your breath on that tool O’Reilly….it’s the ones who aren’t being watched that are the most dangerous.

  7. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

Can you actually flunk an O’Reilly test?

  8. CParis says:

Why bother with Jesus, Billo is a worshipper of that old-time religious figure – Mammon.
    What a cretin. Merry Commerce!

  9. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

I’m guessing (I refuse to go to any O’Reilly site) that the answer to each of the quiz items is “Bill O’Reilly”.

  10. Bozo The Neoclown says:

looking at the accompanying picture, bill-o the dill-do must be a general in “the war on christmas” he’s pictured with a family celebrating kwanzza, with star of david cookies floating about his head.

  11. Buckie Boy says:

Is the prize some of Bildo’s favorite things -

    A Vibrating butt-plug.

A falafel that holds up in the shower.

    A sexual harassment lawsuit.

A small built underage boy toy.

You know, I think I will just not enter that contest.

  12. rmwarnick says:

You have to admit that O’Reilly is brilliant at what he does. This is a time of year normally short on political news, so he made up a fake issue to fill air time.

  13. stewarjt says:

One question from the Holiday quiz:

Who is the MASSIVE TOOL on the far right in the above photo?

  14. DRxJ says:

    A holiday quiz?
Like “What color falafel does one use while pleasuring oneself with a vibrator?”
Answer: Red and green, of course.

    Happy Holidays all!

  15. Nevar says:

    From the Quiz…

    Correct!

    b) Boston

Puritan leaders in Massachusetts fined anyone caught celebrating the holiday because they considered it to be an a “dishonor to God.” Puritans considered Christmas to be a pagan holiday.

    NEXT QUESTION >>

    Correct!

    d) Theodore Roosevelt

To help encourage shopping, Theodore Roosevelt actually moved Thanksgiving back a week to its permanent date—the fourth Thursday in November—so retailers would have an extra week of holiday shopping. Some states, however, ignored is decision and continued to celebrate Thanksgiving on the then-customary date of Nov. 30.

    NEXT QUESTION >>

The last three or four questions are very political… disparaging of John Lennon, the ACLU,

I couldn’t resist taking the test, it seemed I was near the end and my computer started acting funny like there was spyware or something going on and I bailed out to disinfect.

  16. Leo says:

I was paging through Parade and, inveterate quiztaker that I am, started taking the quiz before I noticed who wrote the article.

He did have one funny question:

In New Amsterdam, now New York City, what was St. Nicholas called?

    a) Santa Klaus ?b) Kris Kringle ?c) Sinter Klaas ?d) Hey, you

  17. Bozo The Neoclown says:

    stewarjt Says:
    “MASSIVE TOOL”
otherwise known as “words bill o lielly has never heard spoken to him by a woman”.

  18. stewarjt says:

#16. Then, as now, he was called, “Hey! Whatta you lookin’ at?”

  19. Leftside Annie says:

Ah yes, good ol’ Billo. I’d like to use him for a piñata.

BTW, that’s a Latin American Christmas custom!

    ¡Feliz Navidad!

  20. dbadass says:

Ah my favorite nonissue. Still I really would like to watch the reindeer mounted elfin calvary raising the flag after being victorious in the epic battle for the Island of Misfit Toys…

  21. Chocolate Jesus says:

Some excerpts from Bills IQ test:

Anyone who tells thier children that Santa Claus isnt real before the age of 25 is an:

    a) socialiast
    b) communist
    c) palling around with terrorists
    d) a married homosexual welfare recipient
    e) all of the above

And yet the decorated tree is commonly recognized as a symbol of Christmas, which is Dec 25th, the date commonly recognized as the date on which Christians celebrate the birth of Christ. It’s almost as if the present significance of these symbols has replaced the past associations. ;)

Kind of says it all, doesn’t it?

  28. Nevar says:

Hitler corrupted an ancient Hindu (and Native American) symbol for his own use. Is that acceptable because it is a more recent interpretation of the symbol?
Blackwater USA has adopted an archaic symbol of healing and spiritual strength for it’s logo, does that mean that it’s symbolism is acceptable?
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was invented by Montgomery Ward in an advertising campaign. Does that mean it is now a sacred symbol?

    Merry Christmyth!

  29. dasm says:

Hopefully O’Reilly will be consistent & demand that all his viewers boycott his show.

  30. Leftside Annie says:

Hey, uprighty-tighty, there’s a whole HOST of gods who were (allegedly) born of a virgin on December 25th: Krishna, Horus, Mithra, and a bunch of other more obscure ones.

  31. sectionop92 says:

Why does anyone even give Billo space to wage his holiday guerrilla warfare exercises?

Give me two solid, proven examples of how this living virus on the American soul boosts the Christmas holiday spending with his rants and tirades alone or someone please point Jesus in his direction so the J-man can kick the Christmas out of him!

  32. T R L says:

The only reason I could possibly use billo’s book is if I ran out of toilet paper and I just got 24 pack plus why would I wanna wipe my azz with shit??

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  35. jtenenb says:

The best part of this quiz (yes I wasted 4 minutes I will never get back) is that the answer to what does chanukkah mean has this to say once you get the answer right:

Hanukkah, or the “Feast of Light” commemorates the rededication of the Temple after the Jews’ victory over occupying forces and the re-establishment of their religious and political freedoms.

Hanukkah is the FESTIVAL, not Feast…I mean O’Reilley is a moron, but you’d think the editors of that quiz would have caught that idiocy.

  36. Marie says:

Katy, the muppet family christmas has been d/c by the mfr. — the ones available in dvd form from private sellers at Amazon are over $80!! but I think it is available in vhs form for $25 or so from Amazon private sellers.

Yeah, tell that to the buddhists that created the swastika.
Are you going to tell the buddhist monks that the swastika isnt their symbol anymore..?

The symbols of the pagan holidays have merely been replaced in the minds of small minded people desparate to beleive some sky daddy that impregnated a human with his divine weenie is going to look after their immortal soul after they die. Those who followed the old ways were much more in touch with the energies of nature and wernt in such denial of thier natural human impulses…even if they did enjoy feeding the occasional religious nut to the lions. The whole pedarasty thing was a bit creepy of course, but judging from the number of catholic priests who cant seem to keep thier hands off young boys, that aspect of society doesnt seem to have been much improved by a change of religion.

The funny thing is, what you characterize as “replacement” is, for most xtians, merely ignorance..do you REALLY think most christians understand that dec 25th or christmas trees actually have no correlation with the birth of jesus?

The swastica is associated with the Nazis no matter what any one group wants it to mean. Just like Dec 25th and decorated trees are mostly associated with the birth of Christ no matter what you want it to mean. Of course most Christians know that the date of Jesus’ birth isn’t known and that having Christmas trees as part of the celebration is simply a tradition. Most Christians are unconcerned with what any other group, especially athiests, thinks about the traditions that have developed among Christians. ;)

    upright left Says:

You just think YOU get to define reality even though you arent very bright dont you? Things just become true because you say them in ignorance right? WHY would the tree be associated with Jesus when it is SPECIFICALLY SPOKE AGAINST IN THE BIBLE????? You really only come here to embarass yourself and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you never know what you are talking about dont you?

    Jeremiah 10:3

    For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

    4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
    so it will not totter.

5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch,
    their idols cannot speak;
    they must be carried
    because they cannot walk.
    Do not fear them;
    they can do no harm
nor can they do any good.”

It is really tiresome to read your stupidity wrapped up in such a condescending package. YOU dont get to speak for all Christians. You certainly dont speak for me and your pious scolding from your highhorse is sickening. You DO know you are pathetic dont you?

  51. upright left says:

Now Gene, even you must know that Jeremiah wasn’t talking about the Christmas tree. It hadn’t come in to use at the time, you see. Jeremiah was referring to those who worshiped idols. Christians only worship the Lord; the Christmas tree is just a decoration. I didn’t make the association between a decorated tree, Dec 25th and Christmas, nor did I cause the decline of the association of a decorated tree and Dec 25th with false gods and/or idols. Whether you like it or not, the association is what it is. Merry Christmas, bud!

Bud, check out the definitions of the words “worship” and “quote.” Christians worship the Lord and quote Leviticus and the rest of the Bible. ;)

Now Gene, even you must know that Jeremiah wasn’t talking about the Christmas tree.

You are an idiot UL. Are you REALLY saying THIS isnt a description of a Christmas Tree?

they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

    They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
    so it will not totter.

REALLY? I guess you never heard of synchritization. What we are talking about is the very ANCIENT worship of Sylvan. Another Winter Solstice celebration. They knew that very well during Jeremiahs time. Again its just that you never know what you are talking about and yet as ignorant as you are you feel the need to arrogantly and condescendingly tell US what it is all about. Christianity for me is about fixing myself and loving others for you it seems to be about loving yourself and fixing others.

  56. upright left says:

    ______
    EugeneDebs Says:

You are an idiot UL. Are you REALLY saying THIS isnt a description of a Christmas Tree?
    ______

It’s really great that you keep trying, bud. You’re going to get it eventually! Christians don’t worship the tree nor a false God. Even you must be able to see how the one true God might have a problem with people worshipping a false God or a symbol thereof. Christians don’t worship the tree nor is it a substitute for God. It is merely a decoration. A good minister could help you out if the difference still eludes you, bud. Merry Christmas. ;)

  57. EugeneDebs says:

    upright left Says:

Well you arent EVEN trying or you are very slow. As I said in the begining the Christmas tree is spoken against DIRECTLY in Jeremiah. The reason is it IS a form of idolotry. Even if that ISNT how it is being used now to say it is a SYMBOL of Jesus when it has for THOUSANDS of years been a pagan ritual shows that you just flat dont know what you are talking about. Again you arrogantly try to tell ME about MY religion. Since you are a moron that is very condescending. Since I CLEARLY know more about this than you do exactly WHAT gives you the ARROGANCE to lecture to me about what Christians like myself believe? I am weary of your arrogance, your condescension and your stupidity. I dont need a minister to interpret the bible for me. I know the truly stupid like YOU need to be TOLD what to believe but that isnt me. Since the bible says clearly that His precepts will be written in my heart why dont you STUFF your opinion about what I need and pay more attention to what you DONT know. As for what is eluding me again since I CLEARLY know more about this than you do your arrogant stupidity is a stench in the air. You are too stupid to see what eludes you why dont you worry more about YOUR stupidity and less about me?

  58. upright left says:

Well, gene, I’ll have to take your word that there are people who call themselves Christians and who worship a tree or believe it is a symbol of Christ. By all means, if you find such folks, let them know that they are wrong. They are probably the same people who believe they are Christians because they were born to Christian parents or because they go to church. Fortunately, most Christians realize that the Christmas tree is simply a decoration like the lights we put on our houses. Or are you aware of people who also worship the lights on their houses and believe that they represent Christ? You set them straight to, bud.

God definitely does give us understanding of his word. Even the folks at Westboro agree with that. Unfortunately, sinful man screws that up like everything else. Some folks like to change God’s word to mean what they want it to mean. You understand about that, don’t you bud. ;)

  59. EugeneDebs says:

So now you are lying. It was YOU who said the Christmas tree was associated with Jesus and even someone as bone ignorant as you must know I never said anything about Christians worshipping a tree. You have become a fool, shown you are flat out wrong about that association you create a strawman argument I never made. Yeah I understand about sinful people changing the word to agree with their bigotry and ignorance as you are a perfect example then again since EVERY man is sinful and the bible says directly that His precepts will be written in my heart I dont see the relevance. The bottom line is you KNOW you are ignorant and YOU need to be TOLD what to believe. I dont. I HAVE a bible and Nowhere in it does God say someone ELSE should tell me what it means nor that there should be any intermediary between Him and Me. If I need guidance I can call on Him how would any preacher help me better than He could? You are ignorant and you know it yet you still are arrogant and condescending enough to put YOURSELF out there as telling US what we are supposed to believe. The Christmas tree is a pagan idolotry symbol taken from the most ancient times, from a pagan ritual and has been adopted by Americans in the 1800’s. I dont think it does any harm but there is no QUESTION it is spoken against directly in the bible and saying it is associated with Jesus in any sense of dogma is flat out wrong only associated in that Americans have come to forget Jeremiah and associated it with the POMP of Chrismas. Ignorance and arrogance is a poor combination. Your constant mixing of them is tiresome. You are probably too stupid to do anything about the ignorance but you COULD cut down on the arrogance and condescension you moronic twit

  60. upright left says:

Gene, I seriously thought your comprehension was improving, but the problem persists. Don’t give up hope, though. Of course the Christmas tree is associated with the celebration of the birth of Christ. It doesn’t represent Jesus, it represents the gift giving that people do in honor of the greatest gift. See how the tree as the center of the gift exchange is different from the tree representing Jesus? Of course you do. You might reconsider that idea of talking to a minister. He can help you see where your desire to make reality be what you want it to be has skewed your perceptions of God’s word. Good luck with that! ;)

  61. EugeneDebs says:

My, my, you are incredibly stupid. YOU are the one that said the Christmas tree was associated with Jesus then denied it was spoken against in the Bible. I can only assume you did so out of abject stupidity and pure unadulterated ignorance. The real mystery is how you combine such an impressive level of stupidity wity your unremitting arrogance and condescension. You are stupid UL, very stupid. You are so dumb you really dont get that because YOU need someone to do your thinking for YOU, which a moron like you might, I DONT need anyone to do my thinking for me. Notice which one of us KNEW the Bible spoke directly AGAINST Christmas trees and which one keeps making excuses to just do what you want DESPITE what the Bible says and you want to tell ME what I need apparantly because I just know a whole lot more about this than you do. Your stupidity is really pathetic. You can STUFF your arrogant condescension. The LAST thing I need is any advice from someone as stupid as you.

    ______

If it was anyone but you, bud, I would think that repeatedly changing from saying the tree represents Jesus to saying it represents Christmas was deliberate. I’m sure you are right, gene. It wasn’t the worship of idols that bothered God, it was the fact that the people decorated a tree. Now you do know that Jesus isn’t an idol, right bud? You don’t equate worshipping Jesus with worshipping an idol, right? Don’t you fret about it, bud. At least your heart is in the right place. Merry Christmas. ;)

  64. EugeneDebs says:

You are a liar. YOU said directly the Christmas tree was associated with Jesus birth

The swastica is associated with the Nazis no matter what any one group wants it to mean. Just like Dec 25th and decorated trees are mostly associated with the birth of Christ no matter what you want it to mean.

That taken from YOUR post you pompous moron.

YOU can keep trying to change the argument you can squirm like the idiot you are. I have shown the facts clearly. I am the one that told YOU it was a form of idolotry fool. You apparantly didnt even KNOW its origin since you INCORRECTLY said it wasnt known in Jesus time. When you dont know what you are talking about, like NOW, you ought to just shut up instead of continuing to showcase how ignorant you are.
